When it comes to remixes and mashups, music licensing deals and royalties become tricky business. Thanks to a new deal with Dubset, though, Apple Music will gain an entire collection of the tunes. Dubset's MixBANK distribution platform ensures that both artists being sampled and the DJs creating the mixes get their share of the royalties. The company does this by using MixBANK to identify any copyrighted music in a remix and clearing its use with the proper labels and publishers.

Here's a great way to start off the weekend for sure. lockexenocide on WoW LJ points out this remix of Thorim's "In the mountains" speech, and I like it a lot. It's part of a speech Thorim gives when you first pull him, thrown in with some phat beats and cuts. Unfortunately, LJ doesn't know who put it together, but even stranger, a search reveals a another Thorim remix in the Youtube video above.I'm surprised there aren't more remixes of Blizzard's music and/or audio -- these sound really good, and it'd be fun to hear someone like The Maiden of Virtue ("Cast out your corrupt thoughts!") or Noth ("Rise, my soldiers! Rise and fight once more!") get this treatment. There's probably a whole bunch of cool ways aspiring DJs could cut up and remix some of Blizzard's audio.Update: Here's a cool Yogg Saron mix from Thebum in our comments.

If you've never heard Tanguy Ukulele Orchestra, you're missing one of the few ukulele-flavored treats in the gaming realm. Just a guy with a computer, a voice, and a ukulele, Tanguy makes (often rough) arrangements of game themes such as The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, and Gyakuten Saiban. Recently three more tracks appeared on the site, including an Alex Kidd medley, the first stage of Double Dragon, and the moon music from Duck Tales. Great stuff, and we dig the organic, ukulele-in-the-livingroom feel.

We don't know when it became in vogue to dub over Pokemon cartoon clips with audio from 300's trailers, but that appears to be what's hot on the streets nowadays. And when we say "the streets," keep in mind that we mean Youtube. Some mashups are better than others, so we've pasted three of these animated adaptations for you to cast your hot-or-not votes on past the jump. If you've ever wanted to see the likenesses of King Leonidas and Mewtwo played out, today is your lucky day.[Thanks, Ali!]

Wow. We asked for Halo 3 ad remixes earlier today, and we already have our first one. Frankly, this one is going to be hard to top. Set to the theme song from Team America: World Police, it's about as good as it gets. Props to the creator for maintaining all of the dialogue and sound effects, too. Check out the video after the break (lyrics NSFW).
