So let's get to it: October 12 Hasbro Family Game Night (Battleship, Connect 4, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Boggle and Sorry! Sliders discounted to 400) October 19 Resident Evil 5's Versus mode (discounted to 240) October 26 Fable II Pub Games (discounted to 400) Pub Games is the only title with its planned discount listed, so you'll have to wait until the appropriate time to know how much the others are discounted for. • Capcom asks how you want RE5: Alternative Edition's extra content

Over at Capcom Unity, they're polling individuals on what they would like to see in a localized version of the recently revealed Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition. In Japan, the title is coming on a new disc to the retail space, but Capcom is still entertaining different delivery solutions for North America and Europe, namely digital distribution as DLC for the original game. Since Capcom's had success with the Versus add-on and recent digital wares such as SSF2THD and Marvel vs Capcom 2, it's willing to go that route if the demand is high enough. So Capcom put up a poll and, if you want your voice heard, we suggest you make with the clickings. As for tangible, things-you-can-see-in-front-of-you-right-now news, we'd like to direct your attention to GAME Watch. The site's put up some screens from the new "Lost in Nightmares" mission that takes us back in time to the classic team's jaunt through the Spencer Mansion and, as you can see above, Jill's defense of her status as the Master of Unlocking.Source - Capcom asks: What do you want in RE5: Alternative Edition?Source - New screens from GAME Watch

Last week, the Tokyo Game Show brought in over 100 posts worth of news, previews, interviews, galleries, and videos. Clearly, a lot happened. If you're looking for a comprehensive list of all the goings-on during TGS 2009, Joystiq has you covered -- and organized! The awkwardly named Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is the forthcoming motion control-enabled update of RE5, complete with PS3 waggle and a new flashback mission starring Jill Valentine set in the Spencer Mansion. While the new content may find its way to the Xbox 360 in a "different format," you can assume the motion controls will be a PS3-exclusive. However, since the above trailer doesn't say anything about motion controls and instead focuses on the setting (remember that fight?), Xbox 360 owners can just pretend it's for them as well.

When Jun Takeuchi surprised Tokyo Game Show attendees with a motion-controlled version of Resident Evil 5 (subtitled "Alternative Edition"), he also revealed some new included content, reportedly a flashback scene set in the Spencer Mansion featuring Jill Valentine. According to an IGN translation of a Dengeki Online article, the new scene (and whatever else Alternative Edition includes) may not be constrained to Sony's platform. Dengeki says that the new content may come to 360, but in a "different format," possibly implying a DLC release on Xbox Live Marketplace. It's great news, but keep in mind: there will only be motion control–support on one platform.

Remember when it was first announced that Resident Evil 5 wasn't coming to the Wii, and fans got really upset, because Resident Evil 4 on the Wii was totally awesome? It seems that decision wasn't made due to Capcom's oversight of said awesomeness -- rather, it looks like they chose to bring that experience to the PS3 with the ball-pointed PlayStation Motion Controller. Seriously, check out this gameplay sample (video posted after the break) from Sony's TGS keynote and tell us that doesn't look exactly like RE4 on the Wii. Okay, the PS3 version is significantly prettier -- and due to the fact that Sony's controller has no nunchuck (which forces the player to hold a SIXAXIS in one hand and the wand in another) the controls look a bit more awkward this time around. During Sony's second press conference at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom's Jun Takeuchi took the stage to demo the PlayStation 3's new motion controller with his game, Resident Evil 5. That's right, Sony will be bringing motion control to a handful of existing titles, including a re-released RE5 in Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut this coming Spring.Sony also showed off LittleBigPlanet being controlled by two people, one wielding a motion wand while the other used a DualShock 3. Apparently a mess of other titles will be getting the motion treatment -- 13 in total (seen here, mostly in Japanese see update below) -- with Flower and Pain standing out as notable examples. Update: We've got the full list right here.%Gallery-73849%

Sure, the company's Tokyo Game Show keynote was a bit of a bore, but in a second press conference for Japanese media, Sony did what it could to make up for it by revealing Biohazard 5: Alternative Edition, the first PS3 title we've heard of to support the new motion controllers -- and better still, it's due out Spring 2010. Also confirmed is the existence of 13 first-party titles with motion support coming at some point next year, including Pain, EyePet and Flower. Both Biohazard 5 (known in the US as Resident Evil 5) and a LittleBigPlanet tech demo were shown on stage, and pics from the announcement are being uploaded now, so stay tuned! Update: Some new details of the LittleBigPlanet motion control demo from our friend Ittousai of Engadget Japan. In the presentation, one player was playing the normal way via DualShock while a second person was "assisting" by means of the motion control.

  • 'RE5: Director's Cut' to feature Jill, voice of Jill spills

Well, maybe featuring Jill is not quite accurate -- "it's gonna be, uh, at least, somewhat involving Jill Valentine," confirms voice of Jill, Patricia Ja Lee, fresh from recording new voice and perhaps mocap work for Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut. That's right: Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut. It seems that P.J. Lee has also inadvertently announced a new, more twisting, more turning version of RE5 in the works. What else do we know? "It's some good scenes." Catch the full blab after the break.

In edition to the swanky PC setups featuring the game, Capcom had some other Resident Evil-themed goodies, like Majini makeovers. There was also a station for printing out personal Tricell employee ID badges. See the party in pictures in the gallery below, and check out a quick video of the shindig above. %Gallery-71974%

Now, before you go all click crazy, you should know that you'll find no nudity in this post, so you can just bury those dirty, filthy impulses back under your Judeo-Christian upbringing where they belong. However, a calendar made for fans by Karen Dyer (the voice and body of Resident Evil 5's Sheva) may be a touch more risque than your place of business is comfortable with. Don't say we didn't warn you.The calendar is free, comprised of PDFs and available right here ... or you can just wait to see it hanging from the wall of your local zombie mechanic.[Via The Escapist]

  • Ace Attorney and Resident Evil bring Capcom a favorable Q1

    07.31.2009

Capcom just released its financial results for its fiscal Q1, which ended on June 30. It doesn't look like we'll be reporting any major Capcom layoffs anytime soon, as the company managed to post increased sales for the quarter.Net sales for Q1 were ¥19.497 billion ($203.68 million), up 19.2 percent from Q1 last year. Operating income rose 23 percent, to ¥3.664 billion ($38.277 million). Capcom attributes the positive numbers to continued sales of Resident Evil 5, along with successful Japanese launches for Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and the PSP version of Sengoku Basara Battle Heroes. "As a result," Capcom announces, "we marked the best net sales, operating income and ordinary income since quarterly release announcements began."Less responsible for Capcom's record success: Bionic Commando and the localized version of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, as well as the arcade business. Can't win 'em all.

  • Producer: Wesker not returning to Resident Evil (yeah, right)

It's going to be difficult to be completely spoiler-free for this one, so fair warning. During a panel at Comic-Con, Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata was asked if Albert Wesker would return in a future Resident Evil title, considering Resident Evil 5 leaves you believing he's gone. According to SIliconera, Kawata says Wesker's days in Resident Evil are over. "Even if you want Albert Wesker to come back there is no chance of that happening," Kawata told the audience. Of course, Kawata forgets that Wesker will be seen in the upcoming Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, which takes place in Raccoon City during Resident Evil 2's storyline. As for Wesker going the way of the Dodo, we'll believe that when we see it. Or don't see him, we should say.

No, that's not a screen from Joystiq Publishing's upcoming actioner, Vanessa and The Bear ("Half Accounts Receivable Temp, Half Sadomasochist, All Hero!") It's actually a pair of the new costumes you'll able to get if you pick up the upcoming Resident Evil 5 PC release. We've just got one question: Who, exactly, did Chris piss off so bad that they're dressing him like the lovechild of Don Johnson and The Gimp?

Finding it hard to get interested in the June NPDs? Perhaps a visual aide from the folks at Gamasutra will help boost your enthusiasm. They've compiled the sales figures from all of 2009's NPD charts to find the top five best-selling games of the year thus far on each of the three home consoles. The big winner so far on the PS3 is Killzone 2, trailed closely by Resident Evil 5. On the 360, Resident Evil 5 is currently in the lead, followed by a surprising contender -- UFC 2009: Undisputed. The Wii's current leader is -- who'd have thunk it? -- Wii Fit, followed by Wii Play. For the full five for each platform, check out Gamasutra's writeup.

This is one of those utilitarian posts where there's not a whole lot more information to impart to you after you've read the headline. Resident Evil 5. PC. Sept. 15. Fin.OK, well, we guess we could tell you that you can run the PC version in stereoscopic 3D with GeForce 3D Vision glasses. There are also new costumes and an improved mercenaries mode with three times as many not-zombies to murder.See, that other stuff was barely enough for a paragraph. However, this has now become a not inconsiderable block of text, and we feel perfectly comfortable moving on, confident that you, the reader, have gotten your money's worth. Good day.

  • Resident Evil 5 on Wii 'isn't likely,' still 'possible'

    by
    Richard Mitchell

    07.09.2009

It's probably best to read that headline in the purest technical sense. At a recent promotional event, Capcom Chief Producer Masachika Kawata was asked by games™ magazine about the possibility of a Wii version of Capcom's fantabulously successful Resident Evil 5. Kawata responded that while the Resident Evil 4 engine would work "perfectly" to recreate the gameplay of Resident Evil 5, the graphical quality of the PS3 and 360 versions couldn't be matched. To that, we say, "duh." He elaborated that a rail shooter like Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles "makes much more sense on Wii," adding that a port of Resident Evil 5 "isn't likely to happen."That said, Kawata noted that Capcom has been "surprised" by the graphical prowess of Cavia, the studio behind Darkside Chronicles, adding that "it may actually be possible after all...." And that, Wii gamers, is that: It's possible. Of course, we all already knew that, but it's nice to hear it coming from Capcom.

What a marvelous age we live in. We remember having to buy soundtracks to our favorite Japanese games through mail-order or at the occasional convention. Thanks to Capcom's deal with Sumthing Else Music Works, you can buy soundtrack collections from the publisher's games right over the Internet. Downloadable game music isn't exactly new, with Square Enix having made notable strides, but it never fails to wow us.The announcement that the Resident Evil 5 soundtrack collection will be available today is one of the more impressive downloadable soundtrack offerings yet. The three-disc collection (well, it's three discs in its physical incarnation) contains 86 tracks from the game. You can also go get it at a store today, if you happen to leave the house for some reason. Pricing for the digital version has yet to be shown, but Amazon is selling the disc collection for a mere $18.98.

  • What would you do with a foot-tall Wesker?

Oh, sure. We know the term "foot-tall Wesker" contains limitless potential for innuendo, but we beseech you to fight your immature urges while answering the question posited in this post's headline. The 12" Resident Evil villain in question is an extremely detailed action figure from Hong Kong toy producers Hot Toys (check out a full-size render of the toy after the jump). You may have seen their Sheva and Chris models as well, though we find they lack Wesker's Rob Van Winkle-esque je ne sais quoi. So, seriously. What would you do with a foot-tall Wesker? Use him as a doorstop? A paperweight? Plant him near your cabbage garden to scare away rabbits? The possibilities are endless.[Via Kotaku]
