Betcha didn't see that coming, did you? Who in the world could have guessed that a digital short about the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror, directed by Rob Zombie (House of 1,000 Corpses) and illustrated by Tony Moore (The Walking Dead comic), would be so violent and horrifying? Thanks for sharing, UbiBlog! Okay, we kid. Right from the announcement that Zombie and Moore would debut an animated short at Comic-Con this year, anyone could have guessed that the flick would be anything but puppies and rainbows. Still, things get seriously M for Mature here, as the short features plenty of decapitations, grisly injuries and a close-up eye stabbing. Maybe don't watch if you've just eaten. [Image: Ubisoft]

We've seen Assassin's Creed Unity's hooded justice-seekers hunt their prey in conceptual trailers and gameplay demonstrations, but it seems like another perspective will debut at Comic Con International in San Diego later this month. A listing for a Unity-focused panel describes the showing of an "animated short" inspired by Unity, which will be shown by musician and film director Rob Zombie and Tony Moore, an illustrator whose work includes Image Comics' The Walking Dead series. Judging by the listing, the panel will also focus on Unity protagonist Arno, general details about the game and "new announcements" for the Assassin's Creed series. If you're able to go, Unity's "Heads Will Roll!" panel is scheduled for July 25 at 2:00 p.m. Pacific in room 6BCF. [Image: Ubisoft]

KickBeat is a PS Vita game announced back in May by the pinball-loving developers at Zen Studios in which you'll lay the smack down on enemies in time to a musical beat. This week during Gamescom, the company released a trailer, as well as a partial track list for the title, which is set to arrive later on this year, exclusively on Sony's newest handheld. You can find the announced track list after the break – it ranges from the gritty Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, to the groovy Styles of Beyond and even Mandarin Chinese rapper Shen Yi. That's a positively eclectic selection right there, and Kickbeat will also include a tool for players to create playable tracks from their own music as well. So if that works as planned, there will be no end of tunes to play as you kick a fool's heads in.

Rob Zombie and, by extension, White Zombie scare us. It's not a Slipknot kind of visceral scare, but more of a brooding terror. So, we'll be using a picture of a bulldog puppy in a pumpkin this week. Next week's Rock Band DLC features the aforementioned Zombies and a track from The Darkness.

The details Microsoft is hosting a special Game with Fame event in which a few lucky Xbox owners will be able to watch a movie with Rob Zombie over Xbox Live. That film, unsurprisingly, is the unrated version of Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects. All you have to do is rent (SD 240/$3, HD 360/$4) or purchase (SD 800/$10, HD 1440/$18) the film from Zune Marketplace and send a friend request to RobZombie GWF. The event starts on Friday, February 19 at 8:00pm ET. If you get a party invite, then you get to watch "a selected segment" of the film with Rob Zombie, who will provide "a live director's commentary on the cruel and sadistic activities of the Firefly family." The grim reality that sets in if you win Now you have to think of something to talk about with Rob Zombie. The grim reality for Rob Zombie Two hours of people asking when White Zombie is getting back together. [Via G4TV]

Harmonix and MTV are billing next week's Rock Band DLC update as a spooky, Halloween-themed selection, mostly due to the inclusion of some Rob Zombie classics and a new Wolfmother set (zombies and wolves are scary, right?). Right? But the really scary part, for us, is the addition of two tracks from Morningwood -- now you'll be able to play the Daisy of Love theme song. Creeeeeepy. Also, we have to raise a very important issue: How can you have a Halloween music store update with no "Monster Mash?" How is "Monster Mash" not in the Rock Band Store right now? And whatever happened to my Transylvania Twist? Select a platform below to view complete DLC listing:

Fun fact of the day: Steve Miller Band's "Space Cowboy" and "The Joker" are not the same song, but "Joker" is often referred to by both names because of its first line, "Some people call me the Space Cowboy..." Just keep that in mind as you're shopping for Rock Band DLC next week.Steve Miller Band 3-Pack (440 / $5.49) "Space Cowboy" (160 / $2) "Take the Money and Run" (160 / $2) "The Joker" (160 / $2) Individual songs "I Stand Alone" - Godsmack (160 / $2) "Feed the Tree" - Belly (160 / $2) "Wind Me Up" - Ghost Hounds (160 / $2) "Typical" - Mute Math (160 / $2) "War Zone" - Rob Zombie (160 / $2) Videos for these songs can be found after the break (except for "Wind Me Up," which we couldn't find -- sorry, folks!). All tracks are masters and will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively. The DLC content for Wii's Music Store should be up later today, according to Harmonix's Sean Baptiste.
