We're knee-deep in silly season, so it was already a stuffed-enough PlayStation Store update. Factor in that we've just had the first Tuesday of November and therefore the PlayStation Plus slew of games, well, we've got a fair bit to get through here. First off, there are the retail releases that get their downloadable accompaniments. That's MotoGP 14 (PS4 $60, PS3 $40 and Vita $30), The Wolf Among Us ($25 on PS4 and Vita), the standalone Toy Box download for Disney Infinity 2.0 ($20 on PS4 and PS3 for a limited time, regular price $30), Rocksmith 2014 ($60 on PS4), and finally the small matter of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ($60 on PS4 and PS3.) If you've got $100 to burn, you qualify to be a Digital Pro thanks to CoD: Advanced Warfare - Digital Pro Edition. Earning this prestigious title comes with the added benefits of the season pass, a bonus multiplayer map and other in-game goodies.

Having already appeared on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, Ubisoft's virtual guitar tutor Rocksmith 2014 is now ready to jump to the next generation of gaming consoles, namely the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Though the ESRB already outed the new-generation version of Rocksmith 2014 last month, Ubisoft's official announcement has only just arrived. According to the publisher, the game will launch on November 4 and will feature 1080p graphics and support for both consoles' streaming and video capture capabilities. Like all PlayStation 4 games, Rocksmith 2014 will feature Remote Play on the Vita handheld, a feature which Ubisoft claims is "perfect for players looking to review a song in its entirety without feedback, study specific sections of songs or practice in another room when it's more convenient." Those who already own Rocksmith 2014 on either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 will be pleased to hear that any DLC songs they've downloaded will transfer to their console's next-generation counterpart. If you have no DLC, don't fret - that's a guitar pun - the game comes with 50 songs in tow and there are 300 additional tracks available for download. [Image: Ubisoft]

Rocksmith 2014 looks set to bring rock and/or roll to the PS4 and Xbox One, at least according to the ESRB and Korean Game Rating Board. Both regulatory bodies issued the ratings for the two consoles over the weekend, though Ubisoft hasn't announced any new versions of its guitar tutoring game. We've reached out to the publisher to find out more. As PlayStation LifeStyle reports, this isn't the first sighting of the supposed new versions. UK retailer Zavvi is currently listing the game for Xbox One, while in July a now removed Amazon Italy listing (via The Riff Repeater) noted players will be able to transfer purchased DLC from the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the PS4 and Xbox One respectively.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified, I kept thinking I could never live without Cake's music in Rocksmith 2014. Fortunately, that's no longer a concern. The latest addition to Ubisoft's electronic guitar tutor includes five of Cake's most popular songs: "The Distance," "I Will Survive," "Short Skirt/Long Jacket," "Never There" and "Stickshifts And Safetybelts." "Rock N' Roll Lifestyle" is notably lacking, but that's still a solid complement of the group's post-grunge singles. As with all Rocksmith 2014 DLC packs, you can purchase each of these songs individually for $3, or grab them all at once for $12. All of this content is now available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. [Image: Ubisoft]

You're not paranoid, Rocksmith 2014 owners: Ubisoft does indeed have more DLC coming your way, and this time it's three hit singles from '90s grunge band, Garbage. Those looking to relive the glory days of Clinton, Beanie Babies and denim overalls can learn to play "Only Happy When It Rains," "I Think I'm Paranoid" and "Stupid Girl." Songs are available for $2.99 purchased individually, or for $7.99 when purchased as a pack. And don't worry, you don't need to be a '90s kid to get this - everyone with access to Xbox Live, the PSN or Steam can download the songs now. [Image: Ubisoft]

Oh the times, they are a-changin'. Or rather, the times, they are a-stayin' the same, because once again, Rocksmith 2014 has new DLC for all aspiring guitarists on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. This time, it's rockabilly legend Bob Dylan's songs up for grabs. You can get "Like A Rolling Stone," "Just Like A Woman" and "Subterranean Homesick Blues" for $2.99 each or $7.99 for the three-song pack on Xbox Live, PSN or Steam. As hard as some of Dylan's songs might be for your fingers, they'd be a whole lot harder if Rocksmith 2014 also required you to sing along in Dylan's voice. [Image: Ubisoft]

The latest act to join guitar tutor Rocksmith 2014 is Matchbox Twenty, a band you'll recall from the soundtrack of nearly every romantic comedy released in the latter part of the 1990s. Included in this latest DLC offering are five songs: "Unwell," "Push," "3AM," "How Far We've Come" and "She's So Mean." Like the prior Rocksmith DLC releases, which showcased bands such as Weezer and Oasis, all five of these tracks can be purchased for $12. If you'd rather pick up a few songs piecemeal, each is individually priced at $3. The Matchbox Twenty DLC is currently available for every incarnation of Rocksmith 2014, whether its on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or PC. According to publisher Ubisoft, Rocksmith 2014 can teach novices to play guitar in only 60 days, which should give you just enough time to assemble a band, book a few gigs, then watch the whole thing collapse due to drugs, sexy groupies and the prying eyes of the E! True Hollywood Story. [Image: Ubisoft]

The Rocksmith 2014 DLC train keeps rollin' with five new Rise Against songs available for Ubisoft's guitar game. As always, the individual songs cost $2.99, while the 5-song pack will run $11.99. The songs chosen by Ubisoft to highlight the Chicago punk rock group are: "Prayer Of The Refugee," "Give It All," "Satellite," "Make It Stop (September's Children)" and "Swing Life Away." "Swing Life Away" is a change from most of Rise Against's library, as well as most of Rocksmith 2014 in that it's recorded acoustically. So yeah. Take that to Trivial Pursuit night. You're welcome. If Valentine's Day left you short on love, fret not: Ubisoft has got a big KISS waiting for you. A new DLC pack for Rocksmith 2014 has come bearing three songs from the '70s rock group of big hair, outlandish makeup and one very long tongue. "Detroit Rock City," "Heaven's On Fire" and "I Was Made For Loving You" are all available to purchase for $2.99 apiece, or together for $7.99. We won't say it's required that you put on the group's iconic makeup and costumes if you should decide to play these songs, but it's totally required that you put on the makeup and costumes. The latest batch of DLC for Ubisoft's guitar tutor Rocksmith 2014 adds a handful of singles from early-90s college radio mainstay REM to a game that already boasts tracks from Oasis, Aerosmith and Weezer, among others. Included in the downloadable content release are five tracks: "Uberlin," "Everybody Hurts," "The One I Love," "Shiny Happy People," and "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?" As usual, each of these songs bears a $3 price tag, though you can grab them all at once for $12. Ubisoft claims that Rocksmith 2014 is able to teach users to play the guitar in just 60 days, though you may need to allot extra time to "Everybody Hurts." Lengthy crying jags can take a lot out of you.

Grab a brush and put (on) a little makeup, because you'll want to look your best when you're rocking the house with new System of a Down songs available for Rocksmith 2014. Three songs - "B.Y.O.B.," "Toxicity" and "Aerials" - are now available to System of a Download on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Each song costs $2.99 when purchased individually, or $7.99 when bundled together. Hey, isn't there a pretty popular System of a Down song being left out here? Weezer is the latest Generation Y nostalgia act to hit the Rocksmith 2014 DLC rosters in a new downloadable pack that delivers five of the group's more popular singles. Included in the release are "Hash Pipe," "My Name Is Jonas," "Island In The Sun," "Buddy Holly" and "Undone - The Sweater Song." As with previous Rocksmith additions, each of these songs will set you back $3, though you can grab the entire lot for $12. Hiring the cast of Happy Days to reenact the "Buddy Holly" music video might be a bit more costly, but Henry Winkler seems like a good sport.

Post-grunge British invasion staple Oasis is the latest band to join the Rocksmith 2014 setlist, with a new DLC pack that delivers a handful of the group's biggest hits. Included in the release are five singles: "Wonderwall," "Champagne Supernova," "Some Might Say," "Supersonic" and "Live Forever." Each song carries a $3 price tag, though you can purchase them all at once for $12. Ubisoft claims that Rocksmith 2014 will teach aspiring musicians "to play guitar in just 60 days," though if you want the full Oasis experience you're going to need to finish all five of these songs, publicly claim you're the reincarnation of John Lennon, then lose your teeth during a bar fight in Munich.

Merriam-Webster defines stockholm syndrome as "the psychological tendency of a hostage to bond with, identify with, or sympathize with his or her captor." If Rocksmith 2014 is holding you captive, you can be downright ironic thanks to Muse's "Stockholm Syndrome," now available as part of a 5-song DLC pack for the game. The pack's other songs included are "Supermassive Black Hole," "Time Is Running Out," "Hysteria" and "Muscle Museum." The whole kit-n-kaboodle is yours for $11.99. You can also buy the songs individually, though they'll cost $2.99 piecemeal. Muse joins previous DLC runners such as Radiohead and Green Day, which means the game can unofficially provide the soundtrack of '90s/early '00s teenage angst.

If you've already played the entirety of Rocksmith 2014's set list behind your back while your guitar was on fire ... well, maybe you should go on tour. Five songs from Alice in Chains have been added to its DLC lineup though, so you'll still have something to practice with when you're not on stage. You rock star, you. The new offerings include "Man In The Box," "Hollow," "Would?," "Check My Brain" and "Them Bones." You can pick and choose by paying $2.99 per song, or you can buy them up collectively for $11.99. • Rocksmith 2014 expands playable catalog with Iron Maiden, Hotei tracks

    11.06.2013

Ubisoft has released a new batch of downloadable content for its guitar instructional game Rocksmith 2014 Edition, adding a metalicious 5-track injection from Iron Maiden, along with new songs from legendary Japanese guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei. Rocksmith 2014's new Maiden tracks include "2 Minutes To Midnight," "Aces High," "Run To The Hills," "Fear Of The Dark," and "The Number Of The Beast." Thankfully, Rocksmith does not require players to master the nightmarish percussion track from "Run To The Hills" -- Rock Band Endless Setlist veterans can insert a sigh of relief here -- though its lengthy solo will prove even more challenging for novice guitarists. Tomoyasu Hotei's additions include the singles "Thrill" and "Bambina," along with the Kill Bill theme "Battle Without Honor or Humanity." The guitarist's tracks have previously been featured in Konami's Guitar Freaks series, and Hotei himself starred in the impossibly cheesy PSOne rhythm game Stolen Song, so he's certainly no stranger to the world of video games. Rocksmith 2014's new tracks are priced at $2.99 individually. An Iron Maiden five-pack is also available for $11.99, while the three-song Hotei pack will cost you $7.99.

Just in time for everyone's favorite pumpkin-related holiday, Ubisoft has announced the addition of five Smashing Pumpkins tracks to Rocksmith 2014. Included in the pack are five of the band's biggest, mid-90s singles. "Today" and "Disarm" originally appeared on 1993's Siamese Dream, while "Tonight, Tonight," "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and "1979" hail from 1995's Melon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. These songs join "Cherub Rock," another cut from Siamese Dream already featured in Rocksmith 2014. The Smashing Pumpkins DLC pack is currently available for download from either the Xbox Live Marketplace or Steam. A PlayStation 3 iteration of the DLC is due on November 6. Each song can be purchased individually at $3 a piece, though if you pick up all five new tracks at once you'll only spend $12.
