It's a sad day for the WildStar community. Carbine's Community Director Troy "Aether" Hewitt announced today in a post on the WildStar site that he is stepping down from his position and leaving the studio. He confides in the community the reason for his departure: "Without going into too much detail, recent tragedies in my family require that I return home to be closer to my family [...] It was a decision I can only define as agonizing, but in the end, my family needs me." While this may be disheartening news for many fans, Hewitt is confident that he leaves the community in capable hands. In addition to the North American and European community teams, Hewitt specifically mentions three "forever friends of [his] and industry leaders in their craft" that will be taking care of the community in his absence: Carbine's new VP of Brand, Mona Hamilton; Director of Interactive Marketing, Christophe Bahamed; and new PR Manager, Michael Shelling. In closing, Hewitt tells fans, "While this is goodbye for now, I guarantee you that we'll be playing WildStar together on launch day."

  • Analysts: Mists of Pandaria sales disappointing

Is Mists of Pandaria a sales disappointment? Analysts at investment bank Lazard Capital Markets have estimated that this week's expansion has sold between 600,000 and 700,000 retail copies since its Tuesday launch. This is a significant drop from the 3.3 million unit sales of Cataclysm, World of Warcraft's last expansion which shipped in December of 2010. One important caveat is that Lazard doesn't take digital sales into account, but VentureBeat reports that the firm believes "digital sales won't make up for [MoP's] poor retail performance."

Crygil sprung an odd announcement on us all tonight shortly before 2 a.m. EST: The Wrath of the Lich King beta is over.I actually did a double take when I read this. Date check out? Yup, 11/4/2008. Time? Yup, 1:52:22 a.m. EST. Actual blue poster at forums.worldofwarcraft.com? Yup.Ouch. Beta over at 2:00 a.m. PST.No end event? No advanced notice? Just goodbye? This hurts. It's kind of like that girlfriend who you thought was really great, only to find one morning when you wake up that she's gone and all her stuff isn't there anymore. All you're left with is a note: "It's over."Well maybe it's not that bad, but still. I know I wasn't the only one expecting an end event like they've had during past betas, or during some PTRs. Those were fun, had lots of people and interaction with Blizzard. There was even one PTR event where a few other writers and I got whisked away by a GM.I gather we'll all have to wait to experience an end event in the future. Oh well. At least we have the memories of past fun to look back on.%Gallery-18020%

Alright, listen. We need everyone who doesn't already own a copy of Brain Age to go out and buy one. C'mon, people, sooner is better than later. While you're out, you can pick up a copy for everyone that you know. Perhaps then we'll finally see additional DS Lite colors here in the States.Seriously, what gives? Suddenly, even Nintendo of Korea (who only just got the DS Lite) is rolling out the rainbow, including the brand new Metallic Rose and Gloss Silver models! Where's the love, guys? Reggie, please ... go to bat for us! Make it happen. [Via GoNintendo]
