Back in the long, long ago of 1995, well before the armies of deviantARTists and international cosplayers rose to power, anime and manga-inflected goods were rare commodities in the Western world. Sailor Moon was on TV, albeit in mangled form, and we got the creme-de-la-creme of RPGs like Chrono Trigger, but that was it. Everything else was out of reach. Why, if you were the sort that harbored dreams of mixing that Sailor Moon melodrama with the steady stream of turn-based battles from Final Fantasy VI, all you could do was order a wall scroll and draw in your Trapper Keeper. Little did you know that such a game actually existed in Sailor Moon: Another Story. Joystiq Streams is realizing all of our fantasies today at 4PM EST when we stream Sailor Moon: Another Story at Joystiq.com/Twitch. What's it going to be like? We have no idea, since we've never played it. Rest assured, though, it will be aggressively '90s. Joystiq Streams broadcasts at 4PM EST at Joystiq.com/Twitch every Tuesday and Thursday, but we regularly stream throughout the week so make sure to follow us on Twitch to know when we go live. Breaking! Sailor Moon has washed up in Italy, years after her abrupt disappearance from US syndication. Following a new initiative to globalize Ms. Moon's brand of magical girl ... sailing (is it?), Namco Bandai Europe has announced the world's first Sailor Moon DS game -- and, in fact, only the second Sailor game to be released outside of Japan, ever: La luna splende, which, as you may have gathered from the title, will be exclusive to Italy. La luna splende, planned for release this spring, looks to cash in on the Sailor Moon revival in Italy, where Toei Animation has been broadcasting a remastered version of the anime series since last March, according to Wikipedia. "Adventure, fantasy, fun, action ...," teases the Google translation of Namco Bandai's Italian announcement, "these are the watchwords for next spring." Hmmm ... maybe it's more convincing in Italian: Avventura, fantasia, divertimento, azione ... ecco le parole d'ordine per la prossima primavera!

A group called "Destiny Revival" is honoring the dormant Sailor Moon franchise by creating five Sailor Moon brawlers created in the free Beats of Rage engine. Two are available so far, and now the group is branching out and tempting widespread attention (and thus lawsuits from Toei) with the announcement of the development of a Wii homebrew Sailor Moon game.In a Sailor Moon Forum post, developer kungpow12345 unveiled the first screens of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, a new game done in the style of the Super Famicom Sailor Moon games. Even if you're not particularly interested in fighting evil by moonlight and winning love by daylight, it's a homebrew brawler for the Wii, and that is excellent. kungpow12345 is hoping to have a playable version of Pretty Guardian ready for next year's Otakon in July.[Via GoNintendo]
