Welcome back to IRL, a new column where we dissect, defend and gripe about the gadgets we're using in real life. This week, Dante gets a firesale TouchPad, Dana ditches her Shuffle for a Sansa Clip Zip, Tim's on a boat with the DeLorme PN-60 and Darren explains why, exactly, he's still clinging to his Nexus One.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/09/irl-nexus-one-sansa-clip-zip-delorme-pn-60-and-the-hp-touchpa/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>IRL: Nexus One, Sansa Clip Zip, DeLorme PN-60 and the HP TouchPad</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/09/irl-nexus-one-sansa-clip-zip-delorme-pn-60-and-the-hp-touchpa/">IRL: Nexus One, Sansa Clip Zip, DeLorme PN-60 and the HP TouchPad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 09 Sep 2011 14:58:00 EST. If you've been working out with help from tunes on your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/11/sandisks-sansa-clip-upgrades-to-8gb-stays-tiny/">Sansa Clip MP3 player</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/31/sandisk-makes-room-for-unwanted-slotmusic-cards-in-new-sansa-cli/">Sansa Clip+</a>, chances are you've gotten a bit trimmer -- and you're not the only one. SanDisk's launched a thinner and upgraded version of its song slinger, the Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player. The newest incarnation plays all standard major music formats, comes in red, blue, black, orange, white, grey and purple, and has 4GB or 8GB worth of storage with room for more via microSD. It's launching in Europe next month, but is currently available in both the US and Canada for $50 and $70 depending upon how many jams you want it to hold. Thanks to its <em>massive </em>1.1-inch display, the Clip claims 15 hours of battery life, which should be just enough time to keep up with your daily workouts, right? Jog on over to the full PR after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/25/sandisk-launches-50-sansa-clip-zip-mp3-player-makes-for-a-chea/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SanDisk launches $50 Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player, makes for a cheap workout date</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/25/sandisk-launches-50-sansa-clip-zip-mp3-player-makes-for-a-chea/">SanDisk launches $50 Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player, makes for a cheap workout date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 08:55:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">SanDisk's original Sansa Fuze may have had a solid run -- it's been a particular favorite among those looking for a good, inexpensive player that doesn't skimp on features or audio quality -- but there's no question that it was long overdue for an update, and SanDisk recently came through on that front with the completely revised Sansa Fuze+. Boasting a considerably sleeker design, the Fuze+ replaces the Fuze's venerable tactile click wheel with a capacitive touch panel (but not a touchscreen), and it hangs onto many of the features that made the original Fuze stand out, including a microSD card slot, FM radio, and support for a wide range of formats (including FLAC and AAC). Are all the changes for the better? Read on for our full review. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-0/">SanDisk Sansa Fuze+</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-0/#3421564"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/sandisk-sansa-fuze-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-0/#3421565"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/sandisk-sansa-fuze-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-0/#3421569"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/sandisk-sansa-fuze-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-0/#3421571"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/sandisk-sansa-fuze-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-0/#3421573"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/09/sandisk-sansa-fuze-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SanDisk/">SanDisk</a>'s finally updated its Fuze PMP with the Sansa <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Fuze/">Fuze</a>+. The newly designed device boasts a 2.4-inch LCD, with three capacities -- 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB -- to choose from. It also comes in red, white, purple, blue and black in the latter two models, while the 16GB only comes in black. Other than that, it's pretty low on features: the Fuze+ (you'll be happy to know) features full compatibility with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/slotRadio/">slotRadio</a> (and all microSDHC cards), supports all the major file formats, and a new barebones user interface. The Fuze+ lineup is available today, and the 4GB will cost you $79, the 8GB model will run $89, while the 16GB is priced at $119. Full press release follows below.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/31/sansa-debuts-newly-designed-fuze-pmps/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SanDisk debuts newly designed Sansa Fuze+ PMPs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/31/sansa-debuts-newly-designed-fuze-pmps/">SanDisk debuts newly designed Sansa Fuze+ PMPs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 31 Aug 2010 10:32:00 EST. And here we thought <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SanDisk/">SanDisk</a> had up and buried its once-thriving <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Sansa/">Sansa</a> PMP line. After all -- it was this company's CEO that said "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/04/sandisk-ceo-concedes-you-cant-out-ipod-the-ipod/">you can't out-iPod the iPod</a>." For whatever reason, it looks as if the memory mainstay is about to try its hand once more in the saturated media player market, with a Sansa Fuze+ rumored for release in the near term. As you can clearly see above, there won't be anything <i>too</i> special about the Fuze+, though the 2.4-inch QVGA display, capacitive touch controls and inbuilt FM tuner are certainly appreciated. It'll ship in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB flavors, supporting the usual file formats (AAC, MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, Audible, MPEG4, H.264, WMV, etc.) and offering a rechargeable battery good for 24 hours on the audio side and 5 hours on the video side. USB 2.0 support is thrown in, as is the <i>absolutely riveting</i> confirmation that it'll be "ready for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/slotRadio/">slotRadio</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/slotMusic/">slotMusic</a> memory cards." Knowing that, we aren't so sure if our minds can take the wait till September 12th, but we'll do our best.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/18/sansa-fuze-leaks-out-with-slotradio-support-24-hours-of-batter/">Sansa Fuze+ leaks out with slotRadio support, 24 hours of battery life</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 18 Aug 2010 17:29:00 EST. It's a truth that many open-minded observers have known for awhile now: Apple <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ipod/">rules the roost</a> in the portable media player market, and everyone else is just trying to keep up. Sorry, but it's true. So true, in fact, that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SanDisk/">SanDisk</a>'s own CEO has finally come forward to admit it, recently stating in a <em>Fortune</em> interview that "you can't out-iPod the iPod." And believe us, such a statement probably wasn't easy for Mr. Eli Harari to make. Remember, this is the same fellow that spent boatloads of dough on an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/22/sandisk-wants-you-to-say-idont-to-ipod/">"iDon't" anti-iPod campaign</a> back in 2006. 'Course, SanDisk is still a (very distant) <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/09/sandisks-boast-were-number-two/">second place</a> in the sector, and its flash memory is used in all manners of PMP devices. Still, it's a huge relief to finally hear the mastermind behind <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/slotMusic/">slotMusic</a> confess that he doesn't actually believe such gimmicks will put it on a fast track to first place. Then again, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/23/shocker-americans-spend-more-time-with-pc-than-spouse/">crazier things</a> have happened.<br /><br />[Image courtesy of <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dnorton/2399419321/">dnorton</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/04/sandisk-ceo-concedes-you-cant-out-ipod-the-ipod/">SanDisk CEO concedes: "You can't out-iPod the iPod"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 08:43:00 EST. It could come to nothing, but the enterprising crew at DAPReview just dug up a SanDisk trademark filing for a player called the "Sansa Tap." The mark hasn't been granted yet, but it's been a while since we've seen a new Sansa -- and no, the thoroughly ridiculous <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/15/sandisks-slotmusic-albums-and-20-player-now-ready-to-be-ignore/">SlotMusic Player</a> doesn't count. We'll see how it goes -- we'd love SanDisk to blow our minds with some crazy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/sandisk-acquires-musicgremlin-slips-it-in-front-pocket/">MusicGremlin-powered</a> touchscreen player, but something tells us the company might be a little distracted with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/06/sandisk-likely-to-cut-15-of-staff-as-it-downsizes/">other</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/22/samsung-withdraws-bid-for-sandisk-hurts-with-words/">problems</a> right now.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dapreview.net/news.php?item.4475.1">DAPReview</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/04/sandisk-working-on-sansa-tap-trademark/">SanDisk working on "Sansa Tap" trademark</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 04 Mar 2009 07:07:00 EST. Just when we thought <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SanDisk/">SanDisk</a> had taken a hint and stopped promoting its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/slotMusic/">slotMusic</a> initiative entirely, in flies this. Quite honestly, we weren't aware that it could get any worse, but this friends, is worse. The Sansa slotRadio player includes a fairly intriguing 1.5-inch OLED display, a useful FM tuner and a slotRadio card with 1,000 hits that were "handpicked from the Billboard charts." Oh, and we hope you dig 'em (all of 'em), because there's no way to remove or alter them. For real. The device itself is expected to ship to three or four suckers early this year for $99.99, and additional 1,000 song, genre-specific slotRadio cards will be offered up separately at $39.99 apiece. And we thought the NOW That's What I Call Music! theme was a train wreck -- way to show 'em what a real disaster looks like, SanDisk.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.oled-display.net/sandisk-launches-slotradio-player-with-a-15-inch-oled">OLED-Display</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/sandisk-slotradio-player-comes-with-jam-packed-card-like-now-b/">SanDisk slotRadio player comes with jam-packed card: like NOW, but infinitely worse</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 04:15:00 EST. <div align="left">Going jogging for more than a hundred consecutive hours? Then the old models of SanDisk's teensy-tiny Sansa Clip audio player won't satisfy you, but this week a new variant hits with a capacious 8GB of storage -- a plenty-fair amount for the $99 price, and downright triumphant for a clip-on. That kind of storage wouldn't make sense in a Shuffle-like device with no display for song browsing, of course, but it's welcome in the Clip 'cause it actually has such a screen (it's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/oled">OLED</a>, if you were wondering). Like the other Clip models, it's got 15 hours of battery life, though, so it still won't make it with you on your daily jog from Boston to Pittsburgh. Full PR after the break.<br /></div>

SanDisk just released a firmware update for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sansafuze">Sansa Fuze</a> -- pretty minor, except it adds in support for FLAC and Ogg, which should make fans of jam bands and lossless music encoding extremely happy. Nothing much else of note here apart from some UI tweaks and bug fixes, but Fuze owners will be appreciative, we're sure.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dapreview.net/news.php?item.4340.2">DAPreview</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/04/sansa-fuze-updated-to-support-ogg-and-flac/">Sansa Fuze updated to support Ogg and FLAC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 04 Oct 2008 17:18:00 EST. Well it took three years, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/02/26/rockbox-open-source-firmware-but-more-importantly-rockboy/">Rockbox</a> 3.0 has finally made it on the scene, with a major overhaul in the sound decoding department and support for several new players. This open source firmware replacement is chock full of tasty new features, including codec support for over 15 formats like FLAC and Ogg, 5-band parametric EQ, MPEG video, multilingual interface, Doom and a pile of other games, not to mention freedom from iTunes. Oh yeah, and it can talk to you via a spoken interface -- which comes in handy for not driving off bridges and what not. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ipod">iPod</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iriver">iriver</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sansa">Sansa</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iaudio">iAudio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/gigabeat">Gigabeat</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/archos">Archos</a> models are all supported, though Archos didn't get many of the major 3.0 improvements like expanded codecs.

Quite a bit of time has elapsed since we last saw fit to mention <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/13/musicgremlin-launches-the-gremlin-mg-1000-wifi-dap/">MusicGremlin</a> on these pages, but the long-lost outfit has found itself relevant again thanks to SanDisk. Announced today, the latter firm has acquired the former, and we're told that the acquisition will (expectedly) fall under the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Sansa/">Sansa</a> audio / video business unit. According to Daniel Schreiber, general manager and senior VP of the aforesaid unit, MusicGremlin's "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2004/07/13/musicgremlin-feeding-your-mp3-player-wireless-downloads-after/">digital distribution platform</a> and capabilities will provide SanDisk with adaptive and innovative technology that will play a key role in the development of future Sansa products for consumers," though he didn't elaborate much beyond that. To be frank, we have some serious respect for the Sansa line as-is, so we're quite interested to see what impact (if any) this will eventually have on the crew we've come to know so well.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/sandisk-acquires-musicgremlin-slips-it-in-front-pocket/">SanDisk acquires MusicGremlin, slips it in front pocket</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 10 Jun 2008 08:00:00 EST. Just like that obscure <em>Burt Bacharach</em> album, some DAPs just need a little time to grow on you. Now that SanDisk's comparatively inexpensive <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/fuze/">Sansa Fuze</a> has been out and about for a couple of months, we're imploring you dear readers to cast out your opinions on the minuscule device. Are you satisfied with the interface? Have you been disappointed by the sound quality? Was this thing just one feature away from being perfect? 'Tis a shame SanDisk didn't phone you up before mashing the green button and sending these on their way, but here's your shot to tell all who will listen what could be done better in revision two.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/16/how-would-you-change-sandisks-sansa-fuze/">How would you change SanDisk's Sansa Fuze?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 16 May 2008 18:30:00 EST. So we've had a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/fuze/">SanDisk Sansa Fuze</a> hanging around the office for a few days and already we can tell you that fans of the Sansa line will find it a welcome addition to the line. The interface feels pretty snappy and it's got some of the geeky things you're after (FM radio, microSDHC), a solid 1.9-inch display, and a price $70 cheaper than the nano at the 8GB level. Plus, we know it sounds old school, but we're really into the tactile click wheel, and the Fuze has the best one we've used in a long time. Check out the photos below, including a couple side by sides with a you-know-what.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on/">SanDisk Sansa Fuze hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on/#715780"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on/#715787"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on/#715788"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on/#715781"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on/#715783"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on-05-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/23/sandisk-sansa-fuze-hands-on/">SanDisk Sansa Fuze hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 23 Mar 2008 15:07:00 EST. Remember that Sansa Fuze from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/10/sandisks-sansa-fuze-gets-official-priced/">yesterday</a>? Well, we've gotten some sweet PR on it with a few more details we didn't hear about yesterday. The device will come in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB configurations, feature playback of MP3, WAV, Audible, WMA, MPEG-4, and JPEG files, and will be compatible with subscription services like Rhapsody To Go, Napster, and eMusic. As we mentioned in the previous post, the 4GB model will be available in black, red, pink, or blue, while the 2GB version only comes in black, and the 8GB is only available in silver. The models are priced at $79.99, $99.99, and $129.99, and will be available sometime in April.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/11/sandisks-sansa-fuze-gets-more-details-shipping-date/">SanDisk's Sansa Fuze gets more details, shipping date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 11 Mar 2008 08:49:00 EST. Check it -- HandStands isn't just <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/04/sandisk-sansa-fuze-leaked/">making kit</a> for items not yet conceived. Oh no, SanDisk's Sansa Fuze is indeed more than a figment of someone's clever imagination. Judging by a product listing at Amazon, this media player is set to ship "within one to three months" and features a 1.9-inch display, FM tuner, built-in microphone for voice recording, a battery good for 24 hours (audio) / 5 hours (video) and a microSD / microSDHC expansion slot for good measure. As of now, we know that the 4GB unit in red, pink or black will sell for $99.99, but there's no word on whether more (or less, for that matter) capacious / colorful models will eventually emerge.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dapreview.net/news.php?extend.4249">DAPreview</a>, thanks Nick]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/10/sandisks-sansa-fuze-gets-official-priced/">SanDisk's Sansa Fuze gets official, priced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 10 Mar 2008 02:15:00 EST. Accessory maker HandStands appears to have a Sansa Fuze 3-in-1 accessory kit -- but SanDisk doesn't yet have a Sansa Fuze, you feeling us? We don't know much more than that at this point, but from what we can see it's either a big mix-up, a not-half-bad photoshop, or a forthcoming player that looks to take on the iPod nano. We already saw the Sansa View get <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/23/sandisks-sansa-view-gets-unboxed/">unboxed</a>, but there's just something special about catching a gadget up under the hot, hot lights here in Vegas. Pictured below is a gaggle of shots of the aforementioned media player, but you'll have to settle for images of the 16GB iteration. 'Course, the folks at the booth swore up and down that the just-announced (and curiously absent) <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/sandisk-releases-a-32gb-sansa-view-4gb-sansa-clip/">32-gigger</a> looks <em>exactly</em> the same, so yeah, you shouldn't be missing out on anything.<br /><br />

We can't say we're exactly <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/23/sandisk-prepping-a-32gb-sansa-view/">surprised</a> to see the 32GB <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/sansa+view">Sansa View</a> at this point, but SanDisk's also bumped the <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/sansa+clip">Clip</a> up to 4GB as well -- which is pretty sweet, considering it's staying at the same $79 pricetag. Unlike the rest of the line, the new Clip only comes in silver, but it's polished to a mirror finish, so you can get your floss on tiny-style. The 32GB View won't be surfacing until February, at which point it'll command $349 of your attention -- and not much else, since it looks exactly the same as the previous versions. If you're still curious, it lurks for you after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/sandisk-releases-a-32gb-sansa-view-4gb-sansa-clip/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SanDisk releases a 32GB Sansa View, 4GB Sansa Clip</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/sandisk-releases-a-32gb-sansa-view-4gb-sansa-clip/">SanDisk releases a 32GB Sansa View, 4GB Sansa Clip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 07 Jan 2008 13:57:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sansa+view">Sansa View</a> might have just hit, but it looks like SanDisk's already looking ahead -- the specs link on the View page lists 8, 16, and 32GB capacities with a top-end price of $330. Of course, there's no indication when this bad boy might come out, but those of you who had just gotten comfortable waiting for the right View probably don't mind waiting a little longer.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dapreview.net/comment.php?comment.news.4130">DAPreview</a>, thanks Vizion]<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Looks like it could be false alarm. Pretty much every player on SanDisk's site is showing sizes up to 32GB, even the device we know damn well don't havethat much storage, like the mysterious new 8, 16, and 32GB TakeTV, e200 series, etc. Thanks, Clay!<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/23/sandisk-prepping-a-32gb-sansa-view/">SanDisk prepping a 32GB Sansa View?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Oct 2007 19:12:00 EST. Barely a month after getting <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/10/the-sandisk-sansa-view-returns/">reintroduced</a>, the 16GB SanDisk Sansa View has been acquired, unboxed and lovingly photographed for your viewing pleasure. No real surprises here (well, aside from the Best Buy logos scattered about), but inside you'll apparently find a stash of paperwork, the player itself, a USB cable, earbuds and an Installation CD. For a closer look at what's waiting within, be sure and hit the read link.<br /><br />[Thanks, Randall B.]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/23/sandisks-sansa-view-gets-unboxed/">SanDisk's Sansa View gets unboxed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Oct 2007 04:42:00 EST. Ok, our new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/22/sandisk-announces-sansa-taketv-fanfare-video-download-service/">TakeTV</a> arrived, and this time it works perfectly. (The first one we got was a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/22/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/">pre-production unit with a bum remote</a>.) Here are a few more things we noticed about the TakeTV and its accompanying Fanfare video download service:<br />
<ul>
    <li>The TakeTV interface still has a very unpolished, raw look and feel to it. It's also just the bare essentials, with only a few options for video settings (just aspect ratio, NTSC / PAL, and which video type you prefer: letterbox, pan and scan, fill, etc.).</li>
    <li>On the upshot, being flash-based and light weight, the system boots near instantly and videos take just a couple of seconds to load.</li>
    <li>It properly recognized our XviD and DivX files, but didn't like AVC1 encoded movies, and surprisingly enough, didn't like our standard encoded MPEG-4 Handbrake-ripped DVD. (It's supposed to play back MPEG-4 files, maybe we did something funny, who knows.)</li>
    <li>On the other hand Fanfare looks very slick, but the interface -- done in Flash -- is way too busy, making it sometimes difficult to tell what's going on. It's definitely in need of some simplification and polish.</li>
    <li>Downloaded DRMed videos are, surprisingly enough, in XviD. But they're wrapped SanDisk's proprietary TrustedFlash rights protection. Files are .smbt.</li>
    <li>Downloaded videos are about 350MB per 30 minutes. That's 1.6Mbps (200KBps); given that high a bitrate you'd think these videos would look friggin' great, but the sad fact is they look more like 600-800Kbps, tops, so don't be too disappointed when your Fanfare downloads don't look all that amazing.</li>
</ul>
So our day one thoughts on TakeTV + Fanfare? Well, $99 or $150 for a device that plays all our favorite video formats is kind of a no brainer, especially considering the cost of entry for a lot of other devices in the same category is significantly higher (the $300 / $400 Apple TV comes to mind). We're not sure this whole system is ready for prime time just yet -- but neither is SanDisk, which is why Fanfare is launching in "beta". Maybe with the right hardware and software tweaks this could be a very compelling cheap-or-free download service paired with a very easy to use hardware solution, but for right now we think there are quite a few kinks to iron out.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-and-fanfare-hands-on-take-two/">SanDisk Sansa TakeTV (and Fanfare) hands-on, take two</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-and-fanfare-hands-on-take-two/#451780"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-fanfare-hands-on-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-and-fanfare-hands-on-take-two/#451781"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-fanfare-hands-on-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-and-fanfare-hands-on-take-two/#451788"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-fanfare-hands-on-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-and-fanfare-hands-on-take-two/#451784"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-fanfare-hands-on-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-and-fanfare-hands-on-take-two/#451782"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-fanfare-hands-on-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/22/sandisk-sansa-taketv-and-fanfare-hands-on-taketwo/">SanDisk Sansa TakeTV (and Fanfare) hands-on: TakeTWO</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 22 Oct 2007 20:34:00 EST. Well, after about a day and a half of anticipation, we've got a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/22/sandisk-announces-sansa-taketv-fanfare-video-download-service/">TakeTV</a> of our own to fool around with. First thing that struck us: this ain't your mom's USB flash drive -- unless your mom carries around a Zachmorrisphone, because the TakeTV is big. (But it's not really intended for taking out of the house and using on the daily, so it's not like that's really any big deal.) The remote is thin and blister-buttoned (meh) but the play button is unusually, satisfyingly large. The video dock the TakeTV plugs into doesn't have any rubber grips though, so the thick cable is liable to push it around (or over). Other than that, we haven't much else to say since our unit (which was possibly pre-release hardware) is having some trouble getting up and running. Check back soon, we'll let you know how Fanfare and the rest works out.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/">SanDisk Sansa TakeTV hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/#451146"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-hands-on-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/#451142"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-hands-on-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/#451140"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-hands-on-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/#451145"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-hands-on-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/#451143"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/sansa-taketv-hands-on-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/22/sandisk-sansa-taketv-hands-on/">SanDisk Sansa TakeTV hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 22 Oct 2007 16:20:00 EST. Vanilla USB flash drives are so pass&eacute;, so for those who want a little more flavor more from their generic sticks of memory, might we point you to the SanDisk Sansa TakeTV, apparently freshly leaked by way of buy.com? (It also briefly appeared on PC Mag's site and SanDisk's forums among other sites.) Sure, the TakeTV an 8GB flash drive, but it's also intended to plug into a USB dock with TV outs (and remote), which is capable of reading and decoding the DivX, XviD, and MPEG-4 video files up to 720 x 576 and 7Mbps for playback on your TV. All the old school simplicity of home sneakernet combined with the one-stop-shop convenience of a USB flash drive. Unfortunately buy.com won't tell us when it's out or how much it'll cost, so no one gets to take home TakeTV just yet.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> This whole thing sound familiar? It might, SanDisk announced its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/sandisk-intros-usbtv/">USBTV</a> initiative at CES this year, so it looks like this is the first resulting product. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out.<br /><br />[Thanks, Matt]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/20/sandisk-sansa-taketv-8gb-video-player-leaked/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SanDisk Sansa TakeTV 8GB video player leaked</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/20/sandisk-sansa-taketv-8gb-video-player-leaked/">SanDisk Sansa TakeTV 8GB video player leaked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 20 Oct 2007 03:43:00 EST. The last time we saw two high profile figures engaged in an entertaining wager Microsoft's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/14/the-engadget-interview-j-allard-microsoft-corporate-vice-presi/">J Alllard</a> had to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/11/caption-contest-j-allard-ngai-croal-mashup/">sport N'Gai Croal-esque dreadlocks</a>, and now Lyman is matching ZDnet columnist David Berlind's pledge to go bald if Zune is able to overtake Sansa in domestic sales. Berlind originally made the proposal in response to a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=bach">Robbie Bach </a>claim that Microsoft would snatch the coveted number two position from SanDisk after the upcoming holiday season, which would require a daunting 7% improvement in market share and leapfrogging over Creative. So far Bach hasn't responded to the challenge -- he has until October 31st -- which makes us think that he isn't really all that confident in his assertion, or perhaps just preoccupied with more, um, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/12/xbox-360-exec-robbie-bachs-personal-red-ring-of-death-insider/">important matters</a>.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/10/pride-hair-on-the-line-for-2007-zune-holiday-sales/">Pride, hair on the line for 2007 Zune holiday sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 10 Oct 2007 13:51:00 EST. <div align="left">Altec Lansing was among the first to offer a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/12/altec-lansings-m602-made-for-ipod-and-uh-zune/">speaker dock</a> for the original Zune, and it now looks set to accommodate the latest batch as well, with the company apparently nearly a release for its "Designed for Zune" inMotion iM414 speaker system. While we're a bit skeptical of Altec Lansing's claims of "immersive, crystal-clear sound," the system does look to be fairly decent as far as these things go, with it boasting some 3.2-watt speakers with 2-inch neodymium drivers, a built-in FM radio, a remote, and a spare input jack for your other audio gear. It'll also, of course, charge your Zune while it plays, and it'll even hold some batteries if you want to tote it along with you. As they've <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/08/altec-lansing-to-launch-inmotion-im510-speaker-dock-for-sandisk/">shown in the past</a>, Altec Lansing hasn't forgotten about SanDisk users either, with the nearly identical inMotion iM413 model for Sansa players also said to be "coming soon," for the same $100 price as the Zune version.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9793437-1.html?part=rss&amp;tag=feed&amp;subj=Crave">Crave</a>]<br /></div>

Are you interested in a really, really small DAP? As in: so small you will most definitely lose it some place, like, say... between your car seat cushions, or in a pile smooth skipping stones? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might want to look into Sansa's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/25/sandisks-sansa-clip/">Clip</a> -- just about the teeny-tiniest media player we've ever had the pleasure of handling. Actually, the thing feels pretty good when you get your mitts on it, sort of like a shrunken iPod, with a really nice, clear OLED display. At the low prices they're asking for these ($40 for the 1GB, $60 for the 2GB), you can probably afford to lose a few. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SanDisk/">SanDisk</a> decided to bring another screen to the clip-on party with its new Sansa Clip. Apple's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Shuffle/">Shuffle</a> and Creative's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ZenStone/">Zen Stone</a> have been rocking the form factor for a while now, but only the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/21/creative-zen-stone-plus-lobbed-at-consumers/">Zen Stone Plus</a> is much use for browsing through your music collection. The Sansa Clip player sports the same OLED screen that can be found on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sansaexpress">Sansa Express</a>, but comes in both 1GB and 2GB flavors, for the lovable price points of $40 and $60, respectively. SanDisk even found room for FM and voice recorders, and the usual MP3 and subscription-friendly WMA support. The Sansa Clip promises 15 hours of battery life, and should be out in September in your choice of black, red, pink and blue.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/515">Audio Junkies</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/25/sandisks-sansa-clip/">SanDisk's Sansa Clip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 25 Aug 2007 13:47:00 EST. <div align="left">It looks like SanDisk has decided that a few of its Sansa media players were due for a refresh, and it's now rolled out some changes in hopes of attracting the Back to School masses. Perhaps the biggest change comes to the company's WiFi-equipped <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=sansa+connect">Sansa Connect</a>, which retains all the same specs but gets a full hundred dollars knocked off its price tag, with it now coming in at just $150. The other refresh comes to the company's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=sansa+shaker">Sansa Shaker</a> line, which gets a new 1GB model that'll retail for $50 -- the existing 512MB can also now be had for a mere $35. Of course, while SanDisk is pitching this as a Back to School promotion, there's nothing to stop anyone from taking advantage of it for themselves.<br /></div>

Good news for all you video-playing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SanDisk/">SanDisk</a> owners out there, as the creator of your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/PMP/">PMP</a> just inked a licensing agreement to support <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/DivX/">DivX</a> in the very near future. As a part of the deal, future SanDisk video products will include interoperability with the DivX Stage6 video website, and while it wasn't directly stated that firmware would be pushed out to upgrade existing units, we've got our collective fingers crossed. Unfortunately, SanDisk apparently isn't quite ready to divulge exactly what products (if not all of the video-playing varieties) will indeed be stickered with a DivX-certified logo, but it did say that it would relieve that tension and let us all know "later this year."<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/32462/118/">TGDaily</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/13/sandisk-inks-licensing-agreement-to-support-divx/">SanDisk inks licensing agreement to support DivX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 13 Jun 2007 16:31:00 EST. In a bizarre statement that proudly "applauds <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/amazon">Amazon</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/emi">EMI</a> on the launch of its newfangled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/16/amazon-announces-drm-free-mp3-music-store/">unprotected music store</a>," the company goes out of its way to proclaim its "excitement for Amazon's DRM-free music download portal," and moreover, cranks up the contradiction further by stating that the firm is a "consistent advocate of consumer choice that believes this launch is an important step forward." While we try not to read too much into that, there's a pretty stark difference between these adoring comments and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/08/sandisk-does-up-its-own-open-letter-drops-the-ball/">ones just months ago</a> that aimed to "protect content creators and the long-term health of the industry" by utilizing DRM on digital downloads. Regardless, it has become fairly clear that SanDisk probably just goes with the flow and hopes to put blinders on everyone else rather than actually saying what it means, but as of this moment, we're felicitous that SanDisk is seeing the light.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.electronista.com/articles/07/05/16/sandisk.on.amazon/">Electronista</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/17/sandisk-pulls-a-180-applauds-amazons-drm-free-music-store/">SanDisk pulls a 180, applauds Amazon's DRM-free music store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 17 May 2007 09:59:00 EST. While most of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=sansa+connect">Sansa Connect</a> coverage has <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/06/hands-on-with-the-sandisk-sansa-connect/">treated</a> the little fellow fairly well up until this point, we knew it was only a matter of time before someone got their hands dirty and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=dissected">cracked</a> it open. Sure enough, the unashamed folks at AnythingButiPod had no qualms peeling back the plastic and taking a look inside, as SanDisk's portable WiFi audio player was carefully returned to a state it once found itself in on the manufacturing line. So for those of you whose eyes light up at the mere sight of PCB, click on through for a few more snaps, and then hit the read link when you're ready for more.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/05/sandisk-sansa-connect-gets-dissected/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SanDisk Sansa Connect gets dissected</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/05/sandisk-sansa-connect-gets-dissected/">SanDisk Sansa Connect gets dissected</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 05 May 2007 22:50:00 EST. Calm down fellas, you haven't let <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=valentine%27s+day">Valentine's Day</a> slip up on you or anything, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sandisk">SanDisk</a> is looking out for those who like to look way ahead, or for those with in-the-know mums who need a new pocket-sized <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/dap">DAP</a> for Mum's Day. The Sansa C250 digital audio player falls into the bargain-priced <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/01/sandisk-intros-sansa-c200-player/">C200</a> series, and while a black iteration has been available for some time now, those who haven't caved and snapped up the highly-regarded <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/26/sansa-express-takes-its-turn-gets-reviewed/">Sansa Express</a> can grab a pink or red C250 in 1GB or 2GB flavors. They also sport 1.4-inch color displays for showing album art and JPEG thumbnails, an FM tuner, radio recording abilities, a voice recorder, USB 2.0, a microSD expansion slot, and a removable, rechargeable Li-ion cell that purportedly offers up 15 hours of battery life on a full charge. The 10.4-ounce music machine is currently on sale for a penny under $80 at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=best+buy">store you love to hate</a>, while the less spectacular black version will save you $20.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/29/sandisks-sansa-c250-goes-red-and-pink/">SanDisk's Sansa C250 goes red and pink</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 29 Apr 2007 10:06:00 EST. It's no secret that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sansa">Sansa</a> lineup of music players have fared <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/01/sandisk-sansa-e260-review/">pretty well</a> in crunch time, and according to a glowing PCMag writeup, the diminutive (and simply titled) 1GB Express is no different. While it's difficult not to draw obvious connections between this pack 'o gum sized <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/dap/">DAP</a> and Apple's first-generation <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/01/11/the-apple-ipod-shuffle/">Shuffle</a>, the built-in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=OLED">OLED</a> alone gives it a serious edge. Additionally, reviewers raved over the included niceties (you know, the FM tuner, voice recorder, and microSD expansion slot) that aren't usually found on bottom-end players. Both the clean menu navigation and pocket-friendly size were also commended, and while the "crappy earbuds," unsurprising lack of an AC adapter, and "a modest 14 hours of battery life" were looked down upon, that still wasn't enough to stop the crew from handing out a 4.5 out of 5 rating.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://chipchick.com/2007/04/sansa_express_shuflle_killer_is_out_and_it_rocks.html">ChipChick</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/26/sansa-express-takes-its-turn-gets-reviewed/">SanDisk's Sansa Express takes its turn, gets reviewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 26 Apr 2007 22:15:00 EST. The Shaker, which just went "official," includes the dual headphone jacks, built-in speaker, 512MB of memory and SD card slot we told you about. What we weren't clear about is the "interactive Shake feature," but it turns out it merely skips to the next track, and there's nothing stopping your child from controlling playback with the control band at the bottom of the device -- no need for physical exertion when a twist will do, right? SanDisk plans to launch this puppy in the US for $40 by late April, with the rest of the world to follow later this year.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/17/sansa-shaker-mystery-solved/">Sansa Shaker: mystery solved</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 17 Apr 2007 15:31:00 EST. We've seen plenty of times where <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=good+toys+go+bad">good toys go bad</a>, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sandisk">SanDisk</a>'s latest Sansa music player looks like a pretty solid bet. The forthcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=sansa">Sansa</a> Shaker features a tubular design with blue and pink color schemes to appeal to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/01/runats-mp3-player-finds-use-for-kids-and-old-sd-cards/">younger set</a>, and aside from sporting 512MB of internal capacity, dual headphone outputs for BFF listening, an SD flash card slot for loading up additional tracks, an integrated speaker in case you've lent out your earbuds, and unique "band" playback controls on the top and bottom of the tube. Interestingly, the Amazon product page refers to a mysterious "interactive Shake feature" to be included as well, and while no hard release date nor price is currently listed, we imagine SanDisk will try to keep this one in the $50 range and get it here sometime before summer.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2007/04/sandisk-sansa-shaker-for-the-tots.php">AnythingButiPod</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/14/sandisk-sansa-shaker-does-mp3s-for-the-kids/">SanDisk Sansa Shaker does MP3s for the kids</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 14 Apr 2007 22:43:00 EST.
