The always-entertaining retrogaming site Racketboy has just posted a feature that, while only a little retro (seriously, is last year retro now?) serves our interests nicely. This is especially relevant as the holidays approach and we all want to give meaningful gifts while retaining meaningful bank balances. They've posted a list of ten great DS games that you can get for $15 or less. You may have to do some hunting for a sub-$15 copy of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, or any copy of Scurge: Hive, but handy Amazon and eBay links are provided to assist you. In our opinion, a system can only be really good once the AAA titles start hitting sub-budget prices, and that is exactly what is being illustrated by this article. Great games in diverse genres at a fraction of the ridiculous price of a new next-gen game.

Scurge: Hive tortured everyone who was waiting for it with frequent delays. If you have, in turn, delayed your purchase of the isometric Metroid-esque game, you have been rewarded with a shot at a really cheap copy. GameStop has new copies for $10, which is pretty much worth it for the boxart alone.Speaking of superficial matters, GameStop is also selling a cheap DS Lite case from Intec with smart-looking game storage compartments for $4.99. Sure, it's no $3 leather case, but it looks pretty nice and keeps scratches away. Plus, with no color, you don't have to worry about what color case you'll end up with.

Cheap-Ass Gamer made an important observation: the DS just had far too many AAA titles in 2006 for its own good. Amongst the chaos and personal financial destruction of games like New Super Mario Bros, Metroid Prime: Hunters, Final Fantasy III, and Brain Age, it was quite easy to miss some of the gems hidden in the rough. Thus, CAG has made a list of games you might want to go back and visit as the holiday game rush ends (though not really ... Phoenix Wright 2 comes out this month and is certainly your first priority). Check it out, and discover the lost.
