"Legacy of the First Blade," the first of two Assassin's Creed Odyssey DLC expansion storylines, starts next week with its first episode. "Hidden" arrives December 4th and kicks off the story of Darius, who killed the Persian king Xerxes (in the series' lore, at least) and was the first assassin to wield the franchise's trademark hidden blade.

Of course Assassin's Creed: Odyssey will have a season pass. The first add-on pack will drop sometime in December, according to a post on the UbiBlog, with "two major new story arcs told across multiple episodes." Each episode will land six weeks apart from one another, there will be three episodes per arc according to IGN and the full-on second arc will be released sometime next spring.

We're only a few short weeks out from swinging through New York City in Marvel's Spider-Man, but today the team at Insomniac is talking about everything you'll do after you wrap the story. Because this is a huge AAA game, of course there's a season pass with additional episodes. Collectively, they're called "City That Never Sleeps." It's a trio of add-on stories in this case, with the first, "The Heist" out October 23rd, or, a few scant days before Red Dead Redemption 2.

'Far Cry 5' season pass takes you to Mars and Vietnam

It's almost time to head to Hope County, Montana. In addition to Far Cry 5's American vibes, there will be more to explore if you pony up for the game's season pass. The trio of adventures will have you battling the undead in "Dead Living Zombies," the Viet Cong in "Hours of Darkness" and gigantic spiders in "Lost on Mars." Sure, aside from "Hours of Darkness" these sound pretty over-the-top, but they aren't out of the ordinary for the series. For example, Far Cry 3 had the awesome, '80s-inspired "Blood Dragon" add-on pack that starred Michael Biehn.

Killing Nazis and protesting are two of the most American things you can do. And if you need another avenue for (virtually) doing the former, that's where the first expansion for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus comes in. "The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe" changes up the base game's formula with a new protagonist who, thanks to his football skills, can run through walls and Nazis alike. Sounds good? There are two more packs incoming, and you can pick them up as part of the $25 season pass.

After a few delays, South Park: The Fractured But Whole will finally be released next week. If you're curious what the super-hero-themed RPG's season pass offers before laying down another $30 (assuming GameStop hasn't already guilted you into buying it), we've got you covered. Come launch day on October 17th, you'll only have access two two things: a costume and perks pack and Towelie, the pothead towel, who will give you tips in-game. Both will be sold separately; the former will cost $4.99 on launch day, and the latter will be $1.99 a week later.

You'll be playing as more than just the broken-schmeckled B.J. Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. That's because the game's three expansions will feature a different protagonist fighting for America by punching and murdering the Nazis standing in their way.

'Ghost Recon: Wildlands' $40 season pass packs two big expansions

Ghost Recon: Wildlands comes out next week. I know, I almost forgot about it too. But if an open world filled with guns, high-speed chases and sniping over huge distances in Bolivia is more your speed than robotic dinosaurs or some random game with a princess, you might be interested to know what Wildlands has in store after launch. You know, for when you've long since finished its campaign and dominated the competition on the packed-in multiplayer maps.

It's more than a little weird that it's taken until now for the folks behind last year's Mafia 3 to announce add-on packs for the game. But that's just how the world works lately. The additional story missions start with "Faster, Baby!" at the end of March. The expansion focuses on stunt driving and car chases, according to the game's blog. More than that, it offers up a new section of the New Orleans-esque setting.

A Steam page for Resident Evil 7's Season Pass has revealed what you're getting if you pay extra for the feature. The pass apparently comes with two volumes of "banned footage" composed of three episodes each, as well as an additional story content. Volume 1's episodes are entitled Nightmare, Bedroom and Ethan Must Die, while Volume 2's are 21, Daughters and Jack's 55th Birthday.

Watch Dogs 2 is scheduled to hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 15th, followed by PC on November 29th, but Ubisoft already has its eyes on your post-game experience. The Watch Dogs 2 Season Pass costs $40/£30 and includes five add-on packs: the T-Bone Content Bundle, Human Conditions, No Compromise, Root Access Bundle and Psychedelic Pack. The first three bundles land on PS4 30 days before hitting other platforms, and the final two are day-one additions for anyone who picks up the complete Season Pass.

'Dead Rising 4' DLC is as ridiculous as you'd expect

Golf, but with ridiculous instruments of death like a fire-breathing triceratops head instead of woods and irons. That's the pitch for Dead Rising 4's season pass of add-on bits and sounds like the best kind of absurdity. Specifically, the "Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf" mode that'll come out some time after the base game's December 6th release date. A post on Xbox Wire says that the game of undead putt-putt is made all the more difficult with zombies acting as hazards and generally getting in the way on the mini links. It isn't the Outlaw Golf sequel we've been clamoring for, but at least it's something.

The first 'Dark Souls 3' add-on doesn't hit until this fall

Given that plenty of folks went to impressive lengths to play FromSoftware's latest game early, I'm betting the following Dark Souls 3 news isn't going to sit well with them. Why? Because you'll have to wait until this fall to play anything beyond what's in the base game. That's according to UK enthusiast site Videogamer. And even then, that's only the release window for the first of two post-launch add-ons. Any other details are as scant as an Estus Flask when you really need it, but you can expect new bosses and enemies in addition to gear for your undead warrior.

DICE has announced the next map and character DLC pack for its wildly popular Star Wars: Battlefront game. The new pack, dubbed Outer Rim, will feature two new maps including a close-range field within Jabba the Hutt's palace and garage complex as well as a second map for Sullust (which already has one in-game), a lava-laden industrial planet.

  • $30 'Fallout 4' season pass guarantees all add-on packs

A real-life Pip-Boy might be painfully out of reach, but Fallout 4 developer Bethesda has something else that might make up for it: a season pass for add-on content that actually sounds like a hellacious deal. Bethesda admits that it doesn't even know what future packs will look like, but says that they'll start hitting early next year. Thirty bucks for "all of the DLC we [Bethesda] ever do" sounds like a great idea, though. Almost every piece of post-launch content for Fallout 3 fundamentally changed how the game played in pretty significant ways, be it turning the role-playing game into an objective-based affair with "Operation: Anchorage," a survival horror romp in "Point Lookout" or "Mothership Zeta's" corridor-shooter sensibilities, so there's precedent for some neat stuff coming down the pike.

  • TiVo OnePass finds your favorite show no matter where it is

TiVo DVRs have been powering binge-watching since they first hit the market, but now that means something different. Instead of diving into an archive of recordings or even disc-based boxed sets, we're usually queuing up a few seasons from a streaming internet service, and now TiVo can help with that. An update coming to Roamio, Premiere and Mini devices will evolve the old "Season Pass" recording into OnePass, which searches out episodes across the multiple video apps the boxes have access to. It doesn't matter if they're recorded, have yet to air, pop up on streaming (Amazon, Netflix, Comcast VOD, Hulu, Vudu -- you get the idea) or are just coming soon to streaming, they all show up in one easy-to-navigate screen. It's a simple extension of what TiVo's various boxes already do, but it's something you won't get from cable/satellite, and set-top boxes like Roku or Apple TV usually don't have access to traditional TV sources.

  • Apple refunds Breaking Bad iTunes passes in wake of split season

When AMC split the last season of Breaking Bad in two, it annoyed iTunes Season Pass holders who had to pay twice to finish Walter White's saga. Rather than point angry viewers in AMC's direction, though, Apple is shouldering the burden (and trying to dodge a lawsuit) by issuing refunds. Customers who bought the not-actually-last season of Breaking Bad are receiving $23 iTunes credits that they can use for another Season Pass if they so choose. The refund comes just before the series wraps this Sunday, but it's a welcome recompense for viewers who were caught off guard. Check out Apple's email to customers after the break. [Thanks, Abraham]

  • Microsoft says that Xbox 360 season passes will carry over to Xbox One

    by

If we may paraphrase a sacred text, Microsoft giveth and Microsoft hath taken away. Earlier today, the company announced that the Xbox One would be launching in only 13 markets (as opposed to the originally planned 21), but not all news out of Redmond is bad. To allay the concerns some Xbox 360 owners had over switching over to the new system, Microsoft has announced the Season Pass Guarantee. Basically, all it means is that season passes purchased on the 360 will carry over to the Xbox One, provided you own the same game for both consoles. Big names like Activision, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft are on board and have plans on offering exclusive content for season pass holders for games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 on both systems. The Xbox One may have gotten off to a rocky start, but Microsoft seems keen on smoothing the transition when the console hits stores later this year (for some of us, at least).

  • TiVo teases long-awaited HD guide upgrades for fall DVR update

    10.26.2012

When we originally reviewed the TiVo Premiere DVR back in 2010, one of our laments was that its revamped HD guide style didn't cover all of the screens in its menu system, and the issue still existed when we reviewed the XL4 earlier this year. Finally, that's being addressed, as TiVo VP Margret Schmidt has confirmed the upcoming fall update will bring reworked screens for the To Do List, Season Pass Manager and My Shows (for networked DVRs), and tweeted screenshots. Also of note are a number of Comcast areas recently added to the list of places that support Xfinity VOD via TiVo, so check your zip code to be sure. As far as the update goes, as usual, if you'd like to be first on the list to try it out, go ahead and sign up on the Priority list right away.

  • Sky+ app gets Series Links just in time for them to become irrelevant

Demanding American consumers make sure that if a DVR app doesn't ship with global Spotify support or HDD-management capabilities, it's kicked to the kerb. Demure UK consumers command less respect -- we're happy if our software does anything useful at all. That's why Sky hasn't rushed in updating its Sky+ app for iOS and Android, but in December it'll finally enable users to add Series Links (like Season Passes, only shorter and with fewer filler episodes) at the push of a touchscreen. Sadly you don't get the option to stream from your home box, so don't uninstall that Sky Go app if you're looking for a profanity-laden dose of Deadwood at the grocery store.
