'Overwatch' season two takes cues from 'League of Legends'

Overwatch's 15 million-plus players are going to see some pretty big changes come the game's second season. First up is how rankings work. The current 1 - 100 skill ranking is going away in favor of a 1 - 5,000 rating that breaks down into seven tiers like bronze, silver, gold and, at the highest level, master and grandmaster -- similar to League of Legends and, most recently, Halo 5: Guardians. Game director Jeff Kaplan says that the idea behind this overhaul is to make it feel less like you're performing poorly overall just because you had a bad night. "We want skill rating to be a gauge of where you are as a player," he says in the video below. "We don't want that number to be the thing you associate with you as a competitive player."

Can't wait until Wednesday for the season two premiere of Mr. Robot? No problem -- the show's official Twitter account just posted the first episode. Watching it on Twitter might not give the full home theater experience, but we suspect fans will be ready to see Elliot Alderson and his fellow (surprisingly realistic) hacktivists more than once anyway. The tweet went up at 8:30PM ET on Sunday and says it won't be here long, so move quickly if you'd like a look before it gets pulled. A follow-up tweet reveals it's also premiering on Snapchat, YouTube and USA's own website, so there are plenty of options if you don't want to wait until the 13th. Update: And it's gone. In a stunt fitting for the show, the episode's premiere apparently kicked off presented as a hack into a Facebook Live Q&A that was streaming. The first two episodes will be back Wednesday night at 10PM ET, but until then viewers can check out the Mr. Robot_dec0d3d.doc special episode, and install an emoji keyboard made for Android or iOS devices.

Netflix is bringing back 'Fuller House' for a second season

Less than a week after its debut, Netflix already renewed Fuller House for a second season. The Full House reboot arrived last Friday to less than stellar reviews, but it caused plenty of nostalgic chatter on the interwebs. The streaming service typically brings back its original series for a second run, and it couldn't have been easy to reunite the cast for this particular show. It's still early for any concrete streaming numbers, but Netflix's decision to act fast could be evidence Fuller House has been a popular choice over the last week.

Netflix's second Marvel series, Jessica Jones, doesn't arrive until November 20th, but it's already teasing the next round of Daredevil. Season one was well received earlier this year, and this past weekend the cast dropped by New York Comic-Con for a panel and to meet with fans. You can check out the half-hour panel discussion embedded after the break, as well as a trailer that recaps season one and gives us glimpses at new characters Elektra and Frank Castle. Daredevil season two on Netflix is headed our way in 2016, along with a new series for Luke Cage.

  • Award-winning Netflix original series House of Cards returns on Valentine's Day 2014 with a second season

In what we can only hope will be a dog murder-free second season, Netflix announced this morning that original series House of Cards returns on February 14th, 2014. Apparently Netflix is big on releasing original programming alongside holidays -- smart, considering the binge-viewing around said time periods. It's a big date for the Kevin Spacey vehicle, with the entire 13-episode season launching on Netflix at once in all territories Netflix is available (the US, Canada, the UK, Latin America and Ireland). The show received a smattering of Emmy nominations earlier this year -- HoC is one of several major plays Netflix is making into original programming. Both Orange is the New Black and Arrested Development's revival led the Netflix initiative in 2013, and it looks like the same series that popularized original Netflix content will continue that push in 2014. A new teaser popped up today alongside the Valentine's Day launch news, featuring Claire in a not uncommon place: smoking a cigarette by the window. See it for yourself below! Update (12/13): Just as season two of Lilyhammer pops up on streams around the world, Netflix has released a two minute teaser trailer for season two of House of Cards. Check it out after the break.

While waiting for season three of Game of Thrones to start airing March 31st, fans of HBO's series will be able to snag the second season on Blu-ray February 19th. Even if you've already seen it (whether on TV, via a borrowed HBO login or...other sources) there should be some new elements with Blu-ray exclusive "HBO Select" features including an interactive "War of the 5 Kings" guide to keep track of who is doing what / where / when, animated histories, in-episode guides with more information on characters (like the iPad companion app did) as they appear and "dragon egg" surprises. Check the press release after the break for a full account of features, or hit Amazon to preorder the 7-disc set (w/ digital copies) for $55.99.

  • The Big Bang Theory S1 and S2 will finally hit Blu-ray July 10th

Considering the usual subject matter of The Big Bang Theory it's a bit bizarre that the first couple of seasons weren't already available in high definition, but Warner Home Video has now announced they will be released on Blu-ray July 10th. While later seasons have already seen Blu-ray releases, those looking to start back at the beginning for Leonard, Sheldon, Penny and the rest of the crew had been stuck with DVDs. Assuming you're a fan of CBS' comedy series, you can preorder each Blu-ray / DVD combo release now, priced at $23.99 for the first season and $54.97 for the longer second season. Of course, what we're really wondering is what this means for other orphaned releases that only have some or none of their seasons available on Blu-ray as studios have shifted strategies, we're still waiting for How I Met Your Mother season one. Drop a note about any other shows you're following that have holes in their HD releases in the comments below, or just check out a video clip of the show with the canned laughter cut out -- it's... different.

  • NBC Universal brings Heroes to Blu-ray August 26

Heroes fans can get their full HD fix August 26, when the DVD boxed set of season two is released on DVD, it'll also hit Blu-ray and bring along season one for the ride. No word on price or what extras are in store (or if 1080p will somehow make the whole twins subplot less meaningless, just a thought), although the S1 set on HD DVD last year included HDi internet connectivity, and we don't expect anything less from BD-Live. Universal is going day and date with its movies starting with Doomsday, while NBCU's first dual-format feature film should hit shelves ahead of the holidays.
