Are you just a few marks short of achieving your dream of being able to play Gunstar Heroes on every gaming platform known to mankind? You can go ahead and check "PC" off your list -- the game, alongside other classics like Alien Soldier, Landstalker, Light Crusader, Shining Force, Shining Force II, Shining in the Darkness, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage 2, ToeJam and Earl, ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron, and Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair have all arrived on Steam as part of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Classics Collection 4. You can grab each of these gems (well, some of them are gems, anyways) for $2.99 a pop. You could also grab a bundle featuring 10 of the games above for $7.50 -- though this collection is missing both ToeJam and Earl games, so like, what's the point?

The best way to observe today's Genniversary, of course, is to play some Genesis games. Sega has done a quite thorough job of making sure even the Genesis-deprived among you can do so without having to resort to eBay or a used game shop. After the break, we've rounded up options for buying and playing Genesis games on modern systems. You'll be playing Sonic sooner than -- what's something really fast?

A special "Sega Fun Pack" on Amazon.com offers two Sega PS2 games for the price of one. Sure, one of those games is Shadow the Hedgehog, but the other one is Sonic Mega Collection Plus, which is a collection of good Sonic games! It's Sega and Amazon's way of softening the painful impact of owning Shadow the Hedgehog, we suppose. Or Sega's way of reminding us that the series' most recent low points aren't necessarily its lowest. At $20 for both, it's actually not a terrible deal. You can finally satisfy your curiosity about what it's like to play a game about a cartoon hedgehog with a gun, and then you can play some Sonic to clear your palate!Other Sega Fun Packs include a PSP Sega Genesis Collection/Sonic Rivals 2 pack for $30, and a Wii Sonic and the Secret Rings/Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz pack, also $30.

The Sega Genesis Collection has been earning some good reviews from critics. Featuring 28 games at a bargain price, it's certainly a steal (especially compared to the insane prices of Sega's Virtual Console offerings). However, Modojo points out the titles that could've been part of this collection to make quite possibly the greatest game anthology ever. Here's but a sampling of their suggestions:
