Last year we ran into Seth Green at CES and asked him his favorite 3 apps. As we reported later, Shodogg (an app Green has invested in) is an app for easily sharing videos across devices wirelessly. We're at CES this year and will keep you posted on any cool products we find.

  • Shodogg makes a grand debut at CES

A new company that debuted at CES is looking to figure out a way to give users of web video (both content owners and viewers) exactly what each of them wants without ruining the experience for either side. Shodogg wants to be the middleman of the video experience, tapdancing on the line between protective content owners and content-hungry users. If you have a web-enabled television (and if CES was any indication, that's a question of "when," not "if"), and you are playing a video on your iPad, you can send that video to the TV easily and as securely as possible. The idea is similar to what you have with AirPlay via the iPhone/iPad and Apple TV, except that Shodogg is intended to work with any smartphone and any web-enabled screen -- you can 'toss' your videos to the TV, control them with your phone-as-remote, and maintain playlists for yourself or share them with friends (like Boxee does now). While Shodogg plans to support all varieties of handsets and screens, right now the company's signup-only alpha test is limited to the iPhone and to a small set of browsers. Participants in the alpha can try out the connected video playback features, but not all the bells and whistles will be working yet. I am an optimist, so to me Shodogg is a very exciting thing: users and content providers both win, and I hope that all parties involved will be interested since it strikes a balance that seems to meet everyone's requirements. Full disclosure: This particular company caught my eye because Seth Green was there representing them, because he is a Shodogg investor and advisor. We went to find out what they were about, and in speaking with Seth, it turns out they are trying to do something really interesting. Other advisors include the CEO of JibJab and an NBCU exec, so it is entirely possible this could be the thing that tips the scale for video consumption. You can check out the demo video below. Mass Effect 2 is bound to have some recognizable actors, what with 90 actors voicing 546 characters with 31,000 lines of dialogue. EA revealed today that the cast includes ... oh, by Grabthar's hammer, here's the list: Martin Sheen (Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez's dad) -- Illusive Man commanding Cerberus Shohreh Adhdashloo (sexy voice lady from FlashForward) -- Admiral Shala'Raan vas Tonbay Seth Green (hand in your geek card if you don't know) -- Joker Yvonne Strahovski (wiener lady, lust of Chuck) -- Miranda Lawson Adam Baldwin (a man named Jayne... or the man they call Jayne) -- Kal 'Reegar David Keith Keith David (Halo's Arbiter) -- Admiral David Anderson Michael Dorn (Star Trek TNG's Worf) -- Gatatog Uvenk Tricia Helfer (2020 Oscar winner after people stop treating her like meat) -- EDI, voice of the "new Normandy" Michael Hogan (Colonel Saul Tigh) -- Captain Bailey Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity from The Matrix, singular, no sequels exist -- especially not Revolutions) -- Aria T'Loak We also can't forget Jennifer Hale, who is reprising her role as the real Commander Shepard, nor Mark Meer, the male Shepard and known expert at cutting the council off at weird times.

  • Robot Chicken coming to PlayStation Home Theater

We've come a long, long way from the opening days of the PlayStation Home Theater space, where the debut trailer for Twilight played in an endless cycle of brain-melting teen melodrama. Today, if you drop by the networking service's silver screens, you'll be able to view some programming that's probably more in your wheelhouse -- clips from Adult Swim's Mego-infused comedy series, Robot Chicken.Whether or not you enjoy Seth Green's stop-motion brainchild, we think we can all agree that it's a step up from teasers for vampiric romance novel adaptations. Unfortunately, we're physically incapable of watching Robot Chicken without succumbing to waves of nausea, a side-effect from our youthful diet of G.I. Joes.

When we first heard that the creators and writers of adult swim's stop-motion comedy goldmine, Robot Chicken, were going to be creating DLC adventures for Spore: Galactic Adventures, we knew the results would be ... unique. Now EA has released a short video showing Seth Green, Tom Root and the rest of the show's writing staff "at work" on the content, followed by a run-through of what they came up with. "Unique" doesn't describe it; in fact, we're not sure any word could. "Nutshit," maybe. So thanks, Robot Chicken. You've managed to make us want to re-install the game, if only to find out whether Whiney rhino actually obeys the evil clown and shovels the poo he fears so much. Spore, June 23 is your day to shine.

The Robot Chicken writing team is designing a free downloadable campaign pack for Spore Galactic Adventures, set to be available at launch on June 23. The campaign was conceptualized by Seth Green and Matt Senreich, then presumably executed by their underlings. The DLC includes "exploding poo, angry yetis, ruler yielding librarians and more," of course. The team's exploits (in creating the DLC, we hope) will be tracked at the Spore WTF site. At least getting the Robot Chicken crew involved might get "the targeted demographic" talking about Spore again.

  • Joystiq on the Video Game Awards yellow carpet

Warning: video is NSFW Joystiq attended Spike TV's 2006 Video Game Awards last week, and here's the video to prove it. We literally had to shove our way into our designated spot at the press line and jockey for position with other outlets like Hustler and The Greater Cuyahoga News-Press. Once we were set, we asked the hard-hitting questions that have been on gamers' minds for some time. Some highlights: Joe Rogan literally going insane on camera talking about virtual reality Mark Ecko talking about Britney Spears' underwear allergy Samuel L. Jackson not popping us in the face One word of warning, the video isn't safe for work by a long shot. Joe Rogan uses some very colorful language near the end that has to be seen to be believed ... then again, maybe not. It is Joe Rogan after all. The 2006 Video Game Awards air tonight on Spike TV. Tune in if you want to see Sam Jackson drop some F-bombs, Stewie Griffin insult Sam, and Sarah Silverman insult every gamer in the world. The best thing about it is the Burning Crusade opening cinematic that premieres during the show. That and the skits about the motion-capture guy. Nothing is funnier than jokes about balls, right? Alternatively, you could also go back and start beating Gears of War on insane. The night is yours!
