Blog Azeroth Shared Topic: World of Warcraft collections
Each week, Blog Azeroth hosts a Shared Topic for bloggers to answer on their own blogs and then link to in the forum. Last week, Noahdeer from Be MOP asked: World of Warcraft has added many different items for players to collect, whether it be collecting pets, mounts, transmog gear or knickknacks about the lore. This week's topic asks what you do collect in the game and what is your prized item from that collection? I don't really collect on purpose. I do collect battle pets, but I haven't tried to catch 'em all, yet. And I like my mount collection, but I haven't camped bosses for hard-to-get ones like real collectors do. However, I have accidentally gathered quite a few objects across my many characters: quest items. I don't like throwing quest items away. What if I go back to do the quest even though I've out-leveled the area ages ago? I might want to go for the achievement some day. And, yeah, some of these items may be obsolete, but do I want to go look up each one to find out? Naw, I just let them get all moldy and mildewy in my bank.
Blog Azeroth Shared Topic: What other skills should your class have?

Last week, Effraeti from Awaiting the Muse asked: We all have our favorite classes, and sometimes, even with our favorites we wish they had just a little something more. Like another skill that would be super cool and perfect to our class. Like for my Shaman, I think I should have more elementals. If you could have another skill or two for your class, what would it be? My answer? More druid ports. Way, way, way back in the day, when druids first got the teleport to Moonglade spell, we were told it was the first of our ports. That text went away after a while, along with any hint of any other ports ever hitting the druid spellbooks. When I used to play Everquest, there were two classes that had ports: wizards and druids. They were in constant demand for porting people to their respective portal sites. It's obvious that the original plan was to borrow the same idea, at least for self-portals. Maybe Blizzard didn't want to seem too copy-catish? I don't know. But I was bummed that my druid never saw another teleport spell.
Blog Azeroth's Furtive Father Winter gift exchange begins
Do you blog about World of Warcraft? Are you excited about the Feast of Winter Veil? Do you like giving and receiving virtual gifts? If so, get on down to Blog Azeroth's Furtive Father Winter forum post and sign up for their 4th annual gift exchange. You just need to provide your name (doesn't have to be your real one), your blog URL, and your email address in order to participate. How it works: Participant information is accepted until Saturday, December 15. On Dec. 16, we find out who our gift recipients are via email. Deliver your gift via email between Dec. 20 and Dec. 31. Publish the gift you receive on your blog, crediting the gift-giver. The "gift" is a blog post with inspiring content for your recipient, which could include "prose, poetry, music, graphic art, screenshots" or anything else that you think your recipient would like to receive. You'll of course have to read your recipient's blog, twitter feed, etc. in order to get to know him or her enough to create a good gift. Redcow is organizing the event as usual, and it looks like it will be a festively good time. I'm going to be a Furtive Father Winter on my website. Will you be joining me?
Shared Topic: What is your WoW headcanon?
Each week, Blog Azeroth hosts a shared topic for bloggers to answer on their own blogs and then link to in the forum -- except for last week. I think everyone may be busy. So I chose to answer a previous Shared Topic. akabeko from red cow rise asked: Canon refers to the actual events and characters that exist in a fictional world. Headcanon refers to any situations or characters that are imagined by fans of said fictional world. Sometimes they are silly, like the fact that Garrosh's favorite treat is lemon squares. Sometimes they are serious, like positing that tauren store grief in the lungs. For my writing, I've come up with a lot of headcanon. Got a theory about a torrid romance between your favorite auctioneer and the patrolling guard? Given any thought to where mounts and pets go when they aren't summoned? Do you know how your characters do their laundry, or what Baine Bloodhoof does in his free time? What are your headcanons, and where did you get the idea? I went to Tranquillien for some story inspiration, but all of the blood elves there seem even more catty than usual. Are they bitter for being banished to the Ghostlands? Or were they the winners in some catty contest? I just don't care. So I went to Brill.

Last week, Noahdeer from Be MOP asked: We all know of the Seven deadly sins (Wrath, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Lust, Envy and Gluttony) and we all succumb to aspects of them at one time or another, but is there one particular sin that affects you more than the others when you play World of Warcraft? Are you a bit too prideful about your armor set? or Do you look upon someone with envy when they have a piece of armor that you don't have yet? *This is not suppose to be about the Christian/Catholic religion, more about the vices that we all experience* The thing about the Seven Deadly Sins is that they don't really refer to anything mild. Envy isn't "Hey, that's a nice car. Wish I had one." It's Envy: Extreme Edition. "Hey, that guy has a nice car. I hate him for it. It should be mine. I need to get it from him ..." But we'll go ahead with the Seven Deadly Sins: Mild to Moderate Edition. What's my WoW sin? 50 shades of lust.

WoW has revolutionized my life, and I say that without hyperbole. I think you all know the big reason, but I'll save that for last. (Note: The image above is one of my favorite header screenshots out of all posts I've written here. It really has nothing to do with this topic.) Distraction from pain Pain sucks. Labor pain sucks a lot. Labor pain that lasts for hours and hours and the hospital won't admit you because you just aren't ready yet and you need something to take your mind off the pain but nothing seems to work and ... yeah. But Azeroth had pretty colors and music and friends to joke with who were interested in my status. WoW got me through the early parts of The Eve of the Spawning.

This week, frinka from Warcraft Street asks: If it were possible, would you want Blizzard to put all characters in a single realm/game world by realm type -- PvP vs PvE vs RP? Why or why not? When I first started playing MMOs with Ultima Online, I was severely disappointed that we weren't all playing in the same world. It just seemed to me that it wasn't truly massively multiplayer if we weren't all playing together. When Anarchy Online first began, they tried to keep it to one world but ended up creating a second one after a while. I really felt the single realm was a big part of what made the game unique. (It was the zoning that made me stop playing, though.)

Does someone in the community respond to a post or a tweet and get you all speechless because they actually responded? Is there anyone you are waiting to have respond directly to you? Is there someone that you would like to chat to, but are too chicken? Am I the only one who puts other bloggers on a pedestal? This is such a weird and awkward question to answer for so many reasons, particularly because of where I work. I guess that's a bit of a Captain Obvious statement. I work with so many people I admire -- really amazing writers, and knowledgeable too. I am very fortunate. Every time I get thanked for linking to a blog post from the general WoW community, I get a thrill. After all, I'm only linking it because I admire the work. It's not like I'm randomly choosing blogs from a bingo tumbler cage thingy. Hmm, it would be rather difficult to write blog names on those little balls. OK. It's not like I'm randomly choosing blogs from some random blog-name generator thingy. "Cynwise's Warcraft Manual! You have been chosen by the random blog-name generator thingy! Here's a link." Yeah ... no.
Blog Azeroth: The nicest thing anyone's done

This week, frinka from Warcraft Street asks: What is the nicest thing another player has ever done for you in game? I refuse to choose! Well, honestly, when it comes to all the nice things that have been done for me, I don't think I could narrow them down to one if I wanted to. You see, It came from the Blog and sister guild The Insiders are full of wonderful people who have helped me out more times than I can count. From when I first took over as Guild Mother to now, my guildies have been supportive and kind. They are truly some of the nicest people I've ever met. Some of the things they've done: Pets Lots and lots of pets. My IcftB characters are rotten with wonderful and often rare pets. Prizes Any time I'm short on prizes for a contest that we may have during an event, The Insiders and gang help me out. Usually the prizes are more pets. They like pets. Camaraderie Whenever I log on, I'm guaranteed to have people to chat with and join me on outings.

This week, frinka from Warcraft Street asks: Knowing what you know now about the game, what name other than World of Warcraft would you give it? Why? Since WoW is based on the Warcraft races and lore (though not the gameplay), it's hard to imagine it by any other name. But I guess they could have gone with something else, as long as it had Warcraft in the title. Warcraftquest Warcraft Online Age of Warcraft Warcraft Reloaded Warcraft Universe Maybe I'm just used to it, but World of Warcraft has a much better ring to it than any of those.

This week, dragonray from Azerothian Life asks: What is in game that you want, but you can't have? Is there an animal you want to tame, a critter you want to collect, a tabard that has the perfect design for a transmog set etc etc. What is it you want, but know you can't get your hands on and have to stare at longingly whenever you log in? I wish I had the original World of Warcraft Collector's Edition companion pets: Mini Diablo, the Zergling, and the Panda Cub. I don't have to stare at them longingly whenever I log in, because people rarely have them out. But I do have to look at the Collector's Edition box on a daily basis.

This week's topic: If Blizzard added your main as an NPC in WoW, where would they be located and what would be their function? Give us a shot illustrating the fact. Though Roblinator isn't exactly my main and she's only level 62, she is the guild leader of WoW Insider's It came from the Blog, so I'll use her for this topic. Roblinator the Goblinator would hang out across the way from the bar in the Goblin Slums. They have been saving a place for her, complete with libations! Please ignore the laundry. It's the neighbor's.

The Daily Quest: You face Jaraxxus

MrVoletron is at it again over on Youtube, coming to us with a Jaraxxus remix this time around. People have been requesting this one endlessly from the poor guy, and I must say, he did a good job with it. Utterly hilarious. This past week, Blog Azeroth's Shared Topic was RPG Nostalgia, with many World of Warcraft bloggers throwing in their two cents. What's yours? The new information released today on Icecrown access progression makes this post a little outdated, but it's a good read nonetheless: Matticus makes a case for the limited attempts approach in raiding.
