Fear not, Six Flags goers, this year's Fright Night festivities are bound to get your heart rate going (yup, we really just wrote that lead). Everyone's favorite Resident Evil publisher is bringing its latest game – Resident Evil 6 – to Six Flags parks nationwide starting on October 6.Pre-ordering a copy of RE6 (through GameStop stores or online) nets you a discounted ticket to Fright Fest, a voucher for "one free haunted attraction," and "exclusive ride time" on unnamed roller coasters. You can also play the game at "interactive demo stations," though, you know, you'll have had the game for four days at that point. You could always pretend you've never played it and just look really good in front of strangers, we suppose, but then when do you look good excelling at a video game in front of strangers?

Unbearably long queues, bawling kids, and exorbitant prices: it takes a lot to make a visit to any theme park bearable. Is a chance to play Wario Land: Shake It and win some neat prizes enough? Let's hope so, because over the coming weeks, the platformer will be appearing on demo kiosks at ten Six Flags theme parks. At two of those locations (Six Flags Magic Mountain near Los Angeles and Six Flags St. Louis) on September 27, the player who completes a specific level in the fastest time will win a holiday to New York and a "Bottomless Coin Sack," containing a Wii, the game itself, a DS, and a gift certificate for Six Flags merchandise ( ... yay?). Hit the break for a full list of participating parks and dates.%Gallery-26293%

Do you like rollercoasters? Haunted houses? Sideshow games? Now you can enjoy them all, simply by sitting on your couch. Six Flags Fun Park is now in development for the Wii and DS, and it's no surprise given the previous mutual agreement. Hopefully, after being best buddies with the Wii for so long, Six Flags and Brash Entertainment will have the decency to put out a quality game.It won't be a management game like the excellent Rollercoaster Tycoon series, but rather a -- big surprise -- collection of mini-games and virtual rides. Before dropping your dollars, weigh up the alternatives. Would you rather buy the game, or spend the money on a day's entry to the real Six Flags? The choice is yours, and we have some fresh screens in the gallery to help you with the decision.%Gallery-24451%

  • Brash Entertainment making a Six Flags game?

According to a listing over at Gamefly, Brash Entertainment, the folks behind the Alvin and the Chipmunks games on the DS and Wii, are hard at work on a title centered around the Six Flags theme parks. Brash, who are knee-deep in other movie license games, is taking a departure from their usual stomping grounds, should this listing turn out to be for an actual game. And what should we expect from this game if it's to become a reality? We have no idea right now, but we will say that we have seen plenty of games that confine you to a theme park, so we're leaning toward this being a sim title. The real question is would you want to manage a virtual Six Flags on your DS?[Via Siliconera]

  • Something to do while in line at Six Flags

Six Flags has just announced a deal with Nintendo, in which park patrons in 10 of the chain's locations will face random encounters with Nintendo products between April 5th and November 2nd. 4-person DS "street teams" (though the streets are confined entirely within the parks) will offer DS demos to people waiting in line for rides, and in other locations around the park. Good timing -- we'd rather mess with electronics before the log ride. The "Wii Experience" will return this year as well, with Wii demos inside Six Flags parks.Six Flags didn't announce which 10 of its 21 parks will have the DS street teams onsite, so, uh, don't go to Six Flags just to play DS games.

  • Nintendo teams up with Six Flags

Theme park chain Six Flags announced today that the Nintendo Wii is now the "Official Gaming Console of Six Flags," meaning that the Wii will be available for free play at "Wii Gaming Stations" at "select Six Flags-branded theme parks" (which of Six Flags' 26 parks will get the Wii is unclear). In exchange, Nintendo will promote Six Flags through an upcoming contest on nintendo.com. The marketing deal seems to be, in part, an effort to lure in kids who would rather stay home and play video game than go to a theme park. "When this audience is not in our parks, more often than not they are at home playing video games -- and now they can do both in one place," Six Flags CEO Mark Shapiro said in the release. With the announcement, Nintendo joins companies like Cold Stone Creamery, Kodak and Home Depot in throwing thinly-veiled marketing messages at customers that paid good money just to ride some freaking roller coasters without being bombarded with ads and will you look at these lines I mean where do all these people come from seven dollars for a hamburger what am I made of money next year let's go to the beach. Sheesh! [Thanks awiifemale, Via Reuters]

Chris over at Gearheads of War posted a YouTube link of Megadeth's performance of their new Gears of War song from the Six Flags gaming session a few days back. I don't believe this is a video of the entire song and of course it's YouTube quality, but I can't make out a word of it. Actually, it sounds like a lot of electric guitar and screaming... but maybe that kind of music tickles your fancy. Anyway, it's Sunday and you're bored so go check out the vid already.
