The Elder Scrolls: Castles is like Fallout Shelter for Skyrim fans
Bethesda apparently shadow-dropped a new mobile game set in the Skyrim universe. The Elder Scrolls: Castles is a building management sim along the lines of Fallout Shelter.

Subscribers are getting 'Skyrim,' several Tom Clancy and Kingdom Hearts games, five more Ratchet & Clank titles and much more this month.

Bethesda is releasing a 10th anniversary edition of 'Skyrim'
Bethesda is releasing yet another version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, this time to celebrate the popular title's 10th anniversary.
Acclaimed 'Skyrim' mod 'The Forgotten City' hits consoles and PC this summer
It's an updated, standalone version of the award-winning mystery experience.
Quakecon's Steam sale offers steep discounts on 'Doom' and 'Wolfenstein'
QuakeCon is right around the corner, and Bethesda is determined to capitalize on the wave of good vibe for id Software's gaming legacy -- including, we'd add, the looming 25th anniversary of Doom II. To that end, it's launching a QuakeCon sale on Steam that runs until July 30th. There are steep discounts on recent id-associated titles like the 2016 Doom reboot (67 percent off), Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (also 67 percent off) and Rage 2 (50 percent off), not to mention classics like the Quake Collection (67 percent off) and the original Commander Keen series (50 percent off).
Elon Musk: 'The Simulation, The Simulation, The Simulation'
A young woman wanted to know how much she needed to beg to take a selfie with him. A young man wanted to know if he could get his CyberPunk 2077 hat autographed. These are the kind of questions people were asking Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, during a panel at E3 2019. Musk, who was joined by legendary video game designer Todd Howard (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4), spent most of the conversation talking about how gaming has influenced his life, his vision for the industry and, of course, "The Simulation." Almost every response from him ignited cheers from the crowd at E3, who were the latest people to witness the Church of Elon Musk at a technology conference.
'Skyrim VR' is now easier to play and better to look at
Bethesda's Skyrim went full VR about seven months ago, and it's now getting a pretty significant update. That's a good thing, as not everyone was super pleased with this version of the venerable RPG. According to UploadVR, the title will receive improved visuals, a new main menu and some significant changes to the Move controller configuration.
'Skyrim' comes to Amazon's Alexa
Bethesda is aware. Enough Skyrim ports. Enough already. Cut. It. Out. The game maker showed a shred of self-awareness of its endless wringing of the long-running franchise and appeared to faux-introduce Skyrim: Very Special Edition, a voice-based reimagining of the RPG for Alexa. The kicker? It's real and it's available now (just don't expect to actually do anything with it).
'Skyrim' is coming to the PSVR, after all
Fallout 4 isn't the only Bethesda title getting the VR treatment. During Sony's E3 keynote on Monday, the company confirmed leaks from earlier in the week that it is also porting Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to the PSVR. Unfortunately, there's no word on when the game will actually be released.
'Zelda' and the Master Sword come to 'Skyrim' on Switch this fall
When Nintendo used The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to tease its new hybrid portable game console, a lot of us were left confused. Sure, portable Skyrim sounds great, but is it enough to get gamers to buy the game for a second or even third time? No? How about if Bethesda throws in support for motion controls, Amiibo and adds in the Master Sword?
Watch Bethesda's E3 2017 event live right here at midnight ET
When it comes to E3 press conferences, Bethesda is kind of a wild card. The company is the steward of iconic franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Dishonored and Doom, but its press conference is often something of a surprise. The company has a habit of reviving old franchises unexpectedly, or releasing games just months after their public announcement. It's almost best to avoid predicting what the company is going to announce and just sit back and enjoy the show. And that's where we are -- welcome to the Bethesda E3 press conference! You'll find the company's livestream embedded right here on this post, as well as on YouTube and Twitch.
Watch the Nintendo Switch event in less than 12 minutes
What a night. While you were (probably) fast asleep, Nintendo ended months of speculation by revealing a ton of new info about its upcoming console. Most important, the Switch launches globally March 3rd and will cost $300. Nintendo also announced a number of new games for the system, including Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, a custom Switch version of FIFA, Xenoblade 2, Skyrim and a weird but fun-looking new IP -- Arms. There are also new titles and ports from big hitters like Ubisoft and Square Enix, and we're even promised a sequel to No More Heroes.
Here are all the trailers from the Nintendo Switch event
When Nintendo revealed its mysterious NX game console as the Switch in October, we still didn't know much. Yes, it was a hybrid portable game console with new games in the Super Mario, Legend of Zelda and Splatoon franchises -- but how much was it going to cost? When was it coming out? What else would we be able to play? Now that the console's official reveal is over, we have answers: $300, March 3rd and a whole lot. On top of teasing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo's Switch reveal event showed us trailers for a new Fire Emblem game, a second Xenoblade Chronicles, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and so much more.
'Skyrim' and 'Fallout' immortalized as virtual pinball machines
Xbox One and PC owners can now get their hands on Bethesda's all-new Skyrim, Fallout and Doom... themed pinball machines. Available today as DLC for the free game Pinball FX 2, Microsoft gamers can trial these new tables for a limited time at no extra cost. If, however, you find yourself wanting to return to Bethesda's machines, the pack of three will set you back $11 (£8).
'Skyrim Special Edition' audio took a step backward
As a rule, remasters of classic video games are supposed to be clear steps forward in audiovisual quality. However, Bethesda didn't get that memo before launching Skyrim Special Edition. PC and Xbox One owners have noticed that their version of Skyrim is using highly compressed audio that's noticeably worse than in the original release. You're fine if you have the PS4 version (or are willing to modify your PC copy), but it's a rude surprise for everyone else.
Skyrim, NBA 2K and new Mario are coming to Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch looks like an impressive piece of hardware capable of going from the living room to mobile with the swipe of a hand, but it's nothing without a lineup of acclaimed, high-quality games and fresh experiences. In the Switch's debut teaser trailer, we got a glimpse at some of the software hitting Nintendo's new hardware, including a new 3D Mario game, a new version of Splatoon (look at those hairstyles) and a new Mario Kart featuring King Boo and two item slots. Of course we saw The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as well, but it was the third-party support that really stood out.
'Skyrim,' 'Fallout 4' to offer user mods and PS4 Pro support
Bethesda and Sony have kissed and made up. Who benefits from that corporate make-out session? You, because mod support is en route for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, according to a post on Bethesda.net. Skyrim mods will show up first, but there isn't a timetable for when that will actually happen.
Sony isn't allowing Bethesda to support mods for PS4 players
Bethesda has announced that there will no longer be mod support for its PlayStation 4 titles. Unfortunately, it seems Sony has informed the company that they will not be approving user mods in the way they "should work," where users have free reign over what they can create for Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.
Everything we saw at Bethesda's E3 event
Bethesda's big E3 show is over, and it was pretty great. We got a new Quake, lots of Fallout goodness (including Fallout 4 in VR!), a first look at the upcoming Prey reboot and a ton of detail on Dishonored 2. Oh... and a Skyrim remaster. While our very own Tim Seppala and Jessica Condit run like excited children towards that Fallout VR demo, you can check out all of the trailers from the press conference below.
