<div style="text-align: left;">SNAP (Social Network Analyzer for Privacy) by BIT Systems does one thing, and one thing only: it looks at your Facebook profile and then "grades you on how visible you are to the outside world." Of course, you can always just go into Facebook itself and look at your privacy settings, which would save you the steps of downloading an app and using it to login to your account, but at least the thing is free. And it does provide a handy and thorough tutorial on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/13/how-to-effectively-manage-your-facebook-privacy-settings-with-l/">Facebook privacy</a> in general. Hit the source link to take it for a spin.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/16/snap-for-ios-gives-you-the-power-to-appraise-your-facebook-pr/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SNAP for iOS gives you The Power... to appraise your Facebook privacy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/16/snap-for-ios-gives-you-the-power-to-appraise-your-facebook-pr/">SNAP for iOS gives you The Power... to appraise your Facebook privacy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 16 Aug 2010 08:34:00 EST. HTC promised way back at <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/mwc">Mobile World Congress</a> in February that the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/TouchPro2/">Touch Pro2</a> would be fully upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when the binaries went gold, and... well, here we are. Sure enough, they're making good on the promise by rolling out official updates for both the Touch Pro2 and the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> so far, though this is one of those situations where availability for your particular version of the phone is going to depend on carrier branding, locking, and the phase of the moon, among other things -- so if the updates don't work for you, you can wait for your carrier to get in gear or, you know, try your luck over with the always-helpful xda-developers to roll your own update.<br />

Alltel customers -- totally legit ones who've been left out of the Verizon integration -- have a few things going for them, not the least of which is a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/04/alltel-steps-down-to-one-year-contracts-without-changing-phone-p/">one-year contract policy</a> that applies across the lineup. That means you can get a Tour for the same two bills you'd pay on Sprint or Verizon but with only half the time commitment, but now, it also means you can get an HTC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> (generic version pictured above) for just $80. Considering it's the same form factor with international roaming capability that the Tour offers, that might be $120 worth saving if you're not married to BlackBerry OS and you're willing to give WinMo a fair shake. That's not so crazy of an idea, is it?<br />

This "pre-launch" list of upcoming AT&amp;T phones leaked out today, and it's pretty interesting -- in addition to the BlackBerry 9700, it also features the illusory Garmin-Asus <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nuvifoneg60">n&uuml;vifone G60</a>, which finally looks like it'll be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/07/garmin-asus-nuvifone-finally-coming-to-america-in-q4-or-so-they/">coming to the US</a> just a short 18 months after first being announced. Other notables include the HTC Tilt 2 and something called the HTC Pure, which Boy Genius Report says may be a variant of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/snap">Snap</a>. No <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/att,android">Android</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/att,webos">webOS</a> on this list, sadly, but hey -- the n&uuml;vifone is coming. We've been asked not to reveal the URLs, but we can assure you we've seen this official support screen pictured above with our own two eyes, which means that the HTC <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Hero/">Hero</a> is all but confirmed <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/07/31/htc-hero-coming-october-11th-to-sprint/">in a juicy CDMA blend for Sprint</a>. How (or if) that'll affect the availability of the US 3G version unlocked or on any carrier is unclear, but given <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/06/05/sprints-dan-hesse-verizon-needs-to-check-its-facts-on-pre-ex/">Hesse's huffy language regarding Pre exclusivity</a>, we wouldn't be surprised if they've got this one locked down for a while as well. We've seen a similar support page for an Alltel-branded <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a>, so if you're still tied up in one of the carrier's legacy divested markets and you've been pining after the Snap (and <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Ozone/">Ozone</a>) on Sprint and Verizon, fear not -- your own version is on the way. We'll admit, if you had asked us a few months back what American carrier would get HTC's highest-end Android phone to date, Sprint wouldn't have been our first guess -- but hey, good for them. If you can't win the coverage battle against the Big Red juggernaut, may as well try to win the exclusive hardware battle, right?<br />

Best Buy may have beaten Telus to the punch by offering the HTC Snap <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/22/best-buy-canada-now-selling-telus-htc-snap-for-way-cheap/">on the cheap</a> all by itself earlier this month, and it hasn't been much of a secret that the Touch Pro2 was also <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/17/htc-touch-pro2-calls-dibs-on-3-5mm-audio-jack-for-telus-and-veri/">headed Telus' way</a>, but if you've had any doubts about the carrier's commitment to either of the handsets, you'll be pleased to know that it's now gotten fully official with the pair of 'em. Better still, Telus has even undercut Best Buy's already low $29.99 price for the HTC Snap by offering it for free on a three-year contract, while the HTC Touch Pro2 will set you back a considerably heftier $249.99 on that same contract. Those with an aversion to commitment and money to burn can also snag the Snap for $400 and the Touch Pro2 for $650, or take advantage of some not-very-attractive one or two-year contract deals.<br /><br /><a href="http://mobilesyrup.com/2009/07/30/htc-snap-now-available-at-telus/">Read</a> - MobileSyrup, "HTC Snap now available at TELUS"<br /><a href="http://mobilesyrup.com/2009/07/30/telus-htc-touch-pro2-finally-available-in-canada/">Read</a> - MobileSyrup, "TELUS HTC Touch Pro2 finally available in Canada!"<br /><br />[Thanks, John]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/telus-mobility/" rel="tag">Telus Mobility</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/30/htc-snap-touch-pro2-officially-land-on-telus/">HTC Snap, Touch Pro2 officially land on Telus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 30 Jul 2009 18:03:00 EST. If you're willing to peddle off three years of the prime of your life... well then, Canadians, Best Buy has an offer you simply can't refuse. Telus has yet to release its version of the HTC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> on its own accord, but that's not stopping the big box retailer from doing its thing -- and at CAD $29.99 (about $27) on a three-year contract, we'd venture to say that's quite a steal for a WinMo smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard and global roaming capability. Anyone lining up at the registers right now for this one?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://mobilesyrup.com/2009/07/22/best-buy-puts-unrleased-telus-htc-snap-available-for-29-99/">MobileSyrup</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/telus-mobility/" rel="tag">Telus Mobility</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/22/best-buy-canada-now-selling-telus-htc-snap-for-way-cheap/">Best Buy Canada now selling Telus' HTC Snap for way cheap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 15:44:00 EST. <ul>
<li>Samsung has <a href="http://www.samsung.com/it/consumer/detail/support.do?group=mobilephone&amp;type=mobilephone&amp;subtype=infotainment&amp;model_nm=GT-I8910%2FM8&amp;disp_nm=Samsung%20Omnia%20HD&amp;language=&amp;cate_type=all&amp;dType=D&amp;mType=SW&amp;vType=&amp;prd_ia_cd=01010200&amp;model_cd=GT-I8910DKAITV&amp;menu=download">released</a> a new firmware for its i8910HD that enabled AAC audio while recording HD video. The problem? Right now, only Italian firmwares seem to be eligible for the update, which comes through Samsung's PC Studio app. [Via <a href="http://news.softpedia.com/news/Samsung-i8910-HD-Firmware-Update-116491.shtml">Softpedia</a>]</li>

And let's be honest, Storm owners need all the entertainment they can get.</li>
<li>In France, the Samsung S5230 Player One has been <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mobifrance.com%2Fnews%2F2009-07-13%2Fid15016%2FSamsung-PLAYER-ONE-by-Zadig-Voltaire%2F">re-released</a> in Zadig &amp; Voltaire livery; we've never heard of 'em, but we bet it's a big, important fashion house somewhere. <li>NuevaSync recently <a href="http://nuevasync.blogspot.com/2009/07/push-e-mail-is-here.html">launched</a> its interesting push email service, which simply uses IMAP IDLE on the back end and Exchange ActiveSync to connect to your device (because as push goes, more devices support EAS than IMAP IDLE). <div align="left">Well, there wasn't exactly much mystery left around this one, but it looks like the HTC-made <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/dash3g">Dash 3G</a> (or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Maple/">Maple</a>, or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/S522/">S522</a>, or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a>) has now finally rolled its way into availability on T-Mobile's website, just as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/17/t-mobile-dash-3g-now-officially-official-makes-speedy-arrival-i/">expected</a>. While its full suggested price is $349.99, T-Mobile will gladly let this one go for just $169.99 on a two-year contract, which'll of course get you a Windows Mobile 6.1-based device with a full QWERTY keyboard, and plenty of niceties like built-in WiFi, GPS, Exchange support, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, and some nifty red accents and refined touches that certainly make the original Dash look a bit dated in comparison.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=7416">Mobile Burn</a>]</div>

We personally prefer having phones in our own hands -- call us crazy -- but a close second would have to be full, revealing pictorials that do a great job of breaking down every little detail. That's where <em>MobileBurn</em> swoops in with its 11-strong gallery of shots of T-Mobile's branded <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dash3G/">Dash 3G</a> from a New York event this week, showing a distinct lack of Inner Circle support -- and no, T-Mobile, we hate to inform you that the inclusion of myFaves support is <em>not</em> an even trade. That said, we've no doubt this'll still be a decent seller for folks looking to replaces their aging gen-1 Dashes with something a little speedier when it hits retail next month.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/26/t-mobile-dash-3g-sits-down-for-a-photo-shoot/">T-Mobile Dash 3G sits down for a photo shoot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 26 Jun 2009 08:24:00 EST. You've been able to find the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Exclaim/">Exclaim</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> for a while now if you've <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/10/sprints-samsung-exclaim-and-htc-snap-in-radio-shacks-this-week/">dug through third-party retailers</a> hard enough, but Sprint's finally selling them directly from its own site. The Snap -- which <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/12/sprint-confirms-direct-htc-snap-sales-for-june-21/">we'd already known</a> would hit this week -- is a portrait QWERTY handset running Windows Mobile 6.1 with support for HTC's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/InnerCircle/">Inner Circle</a> functionality to block out email noise when you feel like you're about to lose your mind; it runs $149.99 on contract after rebate. The Exclaim is a low-cost QWERTY side slider designed to do battle with rival LG's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Rumor2/">Rumor 2</a>; it'll set you back $79.99 on contract. Finally, the LX370 is a basic numeric slider with a 2 megapixel camera, running $99.99 with your name on the dotted line.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=4502">Phone Scoop</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/22/sprint-launches-lg-lx370-samsung-exclaim-and-htc-snap/">Sprint launches LG LX370, Samsung Exclaim, and HTC Snap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 22 Jun 2009 15:39:00 EST. Exactly <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/27/htc-dash-3g-for-t-mobile-gets-pictured/">as we heard</a>, T-Mobile's managed to nab itself the Dash 3G, who while on the lam went by the pseudonyms <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Maple/">Maple</a>, S522, and even the Sprint-bound <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/12/sprint-confirms-direct-htc-snap-sales-for-june-21/">HTC Snap</a>. Exactly <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/05/27/htc-dash-3g-for-t-mobile-gets-pictured/">as we heard</a>, T-Mobile's managed to nab itself the Dash 3G, who while on the lam went by the pseudonyms <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Maple/">Maple</a>, S522, and even the Sprint-bound <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/06/12/sprint-confirms-direct-htc-snap-sales-for-june-21/">HTC Snap</a>. Some folks are already having luck scooping these things up at <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9328122&amp;productCategoryId=pcmcat146100050026&amp;type=product&amp;id=1218085897646">Best Buy</a> and / or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/10/sprints-samsung-exclaim-and-htc-snap-in-radio-shacks-this-week/">Radio Shack</a> (you can snag it from the big box for $520 off contract), but if you like your phone sales direct, hang tight -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> isn't far off. Sprint has told <em>InformationWeek</em> that the WinMo Standard device -- likely the first version of it to launch stateside in front of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/27/htc-dash-3g-for-t-mobile-gets-pictured/">T-Mobile</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/24/htc-touch-pro2-brandishes-verizon-logo-poses-for-camera-with-ce/">Verizon</a> -- will be launching on the 21st of this month for $149 on contract after rebates. That still puts it a solid $50 behind the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/e71x">E71x's</a> aggressive $99 on-contract price over on AT&amp;T, but if you're a WinMo diehard or you've got to be on Sprint, this might be your best option going.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=4471">Phone Scoop</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/12/sprint-confirms-direct-htc-snap-sales-for-june-21/">Sprint confirms direct HTC Snap sales for June 21</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 14:09:00 EST. So the HTC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> missed its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/13/htc-snap-snapped-with-larger-battery-sprint-insignia-june-7th/">rumored June 7 date with destiny</a> on Sprint, but don't count it out -- it might still be available before the weekend comes around. Word on the street is that Radio Shack is gearing up to offer the S511 Snap alongside Samsung's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Exclaim/">Exclaim</a> QWERTY slider as soon as Friday for $149.99 and $79.99 on contract, respectively. If true, that would almost certainly make Sprint the first US carrier to offer a version of HTC's latest WinMo Standard device, beating out T-Mobile and Verizon -- the two others currently rumored to have eyes on it. Anyone planning on camping out at their local Shack Thursday night?<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipster]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/10/sprints-samsung-exclaim-and-htc-snap-in-radio-shacks-this-week/">Sprint's Samsung Exclaim and HTC Snap in Radio Shacks this week?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 10 Jun 2009 17:27:00 EST. We're still not sure we understand the business justification for leaving the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> name off the US version of the phone, but that's all good -- the dryly-named <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/S522/">S522</a> just got hooked up with FCC certification on its way to a likely summer release. This means that there'll ultimately be two versions of the phone specifically with North America in mind, since T-Mobile USA's getting an AWS-equipped model as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dash3G/">Dash 3G</a>. Let's be real, it's not as exciting as a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchPro2/">Touch Pro2</a> launch -- but at least the S522 branding will save us from countless "oh snap" jokes (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/bloggers/joshua-topolsky">Josh</a>, we're looking <em>straight</em> at you).<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/09/htc-s522-gets-fcc-blessing-with-us-3g-but-dont-call-it-a-snap/">HTC S522 gets FCC blessing with US 3G (but don't call it a Snap)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 09 Jun 2009 14:42:00 EST. Want an HTC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a>? Have &pound;289.99, $481, or some equivalent mix of currency? Then you might want to head over to Devicewire, where the first trickles of Snap stock are starting to flow. It seems they've only started with a few dozen units here, and we wouldn't be surprised if they went quickly -- so if portrait QWERTY, Windows Mobile 6.1, and HTC's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/InnerCircle/">Inner Circle</a> technology all get you hot and bothered, you'd best place your British order soon rather than later.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-standard-news/288712/htc-snap-in-stock-now-at-devicewire/">MoDaCo</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/htc-snap-goes-on-sale-in-the-uk/">HTC Snap goes on sale in the UK

If you're longing desperately for that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/t-mobile,dash">T-Mobile Dash</a> replacement, you don't have that much longer to wait, because the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Maple/">Maple</a> / <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/S522/">S522</a> / <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> / <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dash3G/">Dash 3G</a> (and yes, sadly, those are all pretty much synonyms) is right around the corner. All signs point to a release this summer -- and we're now seeing the phone for the very first time in T-Mobile branding, which is a good sign as far as we're concerned. We've had chances to play with the unbranded Snap in the past, and while it's definitely a great looking handset in the flesh, it doesn't typically photograph well; strangely, we're digging this fuzzy, dirty, out-of-perspective shot as-is. Something about the T-Mobile logo just does it for us, we guess?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/27/htc-dash-3g-for-t-mobile-gets-pictured/">HTC Dash 3G for T-Mobile gets pictured</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 27 May 2009 21:17:00 EST. Not that it wasn't <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/20/htc-passes-cdma-gsm-hybrid-touch-pro2-through-the-fcc/">without warning</a>, but we've now got some pretty definitive picture proof that HTC 's Touch Pro2 is set to bask in Verizon's CDMA goodness -- we guess your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/19/htc-touch-pro2-for-sprint-spotted-in-the-wild-mid-june-release/">Sprint friends</a> won't be having all the fun, after all. Also caught on camera here is the HTC Cedar, a CDMA version of the HTC Maple / Snap. It's got a slightly different button layout just under the screen than the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/13/htc-snap-snapped-with-larger-battery-sprint-insignia-june-7th/">Sprint version</a> we recently saw, which itself is different from its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/01/htc-snap-reviewed-qwerty-keyboard-winmo-6-1-no-great-shakes/">initial unveiling</a>. According to <em>474RPR</em>, who leaked these pics, this one's bound for Alltel's network, which while we don't see any proof from the image, we could totally buy that. Of course, none of these pics give a release date of any sort, so hang tight while we all anxiously wait in unison.<br />

Looks like HTC's giving Sprint its own version of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a>, albeit with some slight modifications compared to the T-Mobile variant. According to the snapshots from <em>PPCGeeks</em>, all specs are pretty much identical except for a 1500mAH battery in place of the 800mAH, a revived <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/08/htc-snap-coming-to-t-mobile-sans-inner-circle/">Inner Circle</a>, and a potentially nonexistent WiFi component. It also looks like the middle unit has been changed to a more traditional d-pad configuration. The forum poster who uploaded the pics claims it'll launch for a hair under $150 on June 7th, which would be rather odd should another <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/12/palm-touchstone-date-changed-to-june-7-in-best-buys-system-sta/">high-profile release date rumor</a> pan out.<br />

Newly-leaked projected training and launch dates on T-Mobile are revealing a treasure trove of goodies for the summer months, not the least of which seems to be a visual voicemail system -- a trend already validated by <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/22/visual-voicemail-for-blackberry-bold-gets-realer/">AT&amp;T's</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/11/verizon-gets-official-with-visual-voicemail-service/">Verizon's</a> past and future launches -- expected on July 16, though it's not clear what devices are lined up to get it. On the hardware front, we're getting some much-needed validation on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/05/sidekick-2009-coming-may-13th-to-t-mobile-snap-and-touch-pro2-i/">dates we've already heard</a>: we've got the Dash 3G (alias <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a>, alias <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/S522/">S522</a>) in the mix for July 1, the 8 megapixel <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cs8">Sony Ericsson CS8</a> slider for June 24 (and its kid brother, the CS5, for July 8), and the HTC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Rhodium/">Rhodium</a> / <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchPro2/">Touch Pro2</a> for July 22. We've also got a couple "hero" Samsungs listed in here, though we're fairly certain they're not Android devices -- <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Houdini/">Houdini</a>, where are you?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sony-ericsson/" rel="tag">Sony Ericsson</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/05/t-mobile-rolling-out-visual-voicemail-this-summer/">T-Mobile rolling out visual voicemail this summer?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 05 May 2009 16:36:00 EST. New inventory items in Telus' system are setting these old, weary interwebs ablaze, especially those parts of the interwebs where <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/HTC/">HTC</a> devices are discussed with great love and passion. Specifically, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchPro2/">Touch Pro2</a> have made appearances -- not surprising, considering we know <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/16/sprints-2009-roadmap-comes-to-light-packed-with-goodies/">other CDMA carriers have these on the roadmap already</a> -- but what's extra delicious here are the "World Edition" tags listed in the description field. That would imply that these are dual-band devices capable of supporting GSM abroad, which is music to any globetrotting suit's ears and a surefire way to sell a few more of these biz-oriented things. We've received similar inventory screen shots corroborating <em>Boy Genius Report's</em> which makes us even more certain they're on their way -- it's just a question of when and for how much.<br /> <br /> [Thanks, anonymous tipster]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/telus-mobility/" rel="tag">Telus Mobility</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/04/htc-touch-pro2-snap-coming-to-telus-with-gsm-in-tow/">HTC Touch Pro2, Snap coming to Telus -- with GSM in tow?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 04 May 2009 09:16:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">We know you've been dying to get your hands all over the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HTCSnap/">HTC Snap</a>... oh, wait. You haven't? Well, neither have we -- but no matter, 'cos <span style="font-style: italic;">Smartphone Daily</span> has a review, and they've filled us in on the luscious deets. For the uninitiated, this is a 2.4-inch, Windows Mobile 6.1, touchscreen deficient candybar, and something of a BlackBerry doppelganger (if only in the looks department), featuring WiFi and a camera. Wild, huh? Overall, the reviewer found it to be "decent" -- if you're looking for a "business device," that is. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/08/htc-snap-coming-to-t-mobile-sans-inner-circle/">Inner Circle</a> feature was singled out for some praise: little more than an Inbox filter for your, erm, "inner circle," you have to wonder why a manufacturer hadn't thought of it before. On the downside, he did find the inclusion of a TAB key (where the A key belongs) to be particularly annoying. This bad boy will go on sale this summer in Europe, at which time the S522 (as it's known 'round here) should hit the shops Stateside. Well, here's <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/04/08/htc-snap-coming-to-t-mobile-sans-inner-circle/">one rumor</a> that's looking destined to pan out: the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/S522/">S522</a>, which we'd heard was being readied for availability on T-Mobile, just hit the FCC as the MAPL100 (that's "Maple" for short, the device's codename) bearing 3G on the AWS band. That would make it fully compatible with T-Mobile's HSPA network -- but what we still don't know is whether the device's new Inner Circle service will be stripped from the retail unit like we've been hearing. Either way, this is interesting in light of the fact that HTC has said an unbranded S522 would be made available in the States this summer, so it looks like T-Mob won't have much -- if any -- North American exclusivity on this one.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/15/t-mobile-bound-htc-s522-throws-open-fccs-oaken-double-doors-fl/">T-Mobile-bound HTC S522 throws open FCC's oaken double doors, flexes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Apr 2009 14:31:00 EST. So the juicy part of this rumor has to be the fact that <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/category/T-Mobile/">T-Mobile</a> could get a branded version of the lovely HTC <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> (or rather the US-specific S522, which doesn't carry the Snap name), a belief based on a leaked ROM rife with references to the carrier's name and logo. Of course, seeing how T-Mobile was HTC's partner on the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Excalibur/">Excalibur</a> / <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Dash/">Dash</a>, it makes a lot of sense that they'd want to carry on the portrait QWERTY tradition there with an updated model, which is precisely where the S522 fits into the puzzle. This is where it gets weird, though: the ROM apparently has wiped all references to Inner Circle, HTC's software tweak that lets you selectively filter out emails from anyone not on your whitelist. Why they'd want to get rid of it is unclear since it wouldn't seem to affect carrier revenue in any way, so we're holding out hope that it'll reappear by the time the device ships -- if this rumor even ends up checking out, that is.<br />

The gang at <em>TmoNews</em> have it from a "trusted source" what's purported to be a list of tentative release dates for nearly a dozen T-Mobile phones. At the top on that list is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sidekick">Sidekick 2009</a> (a.k.a. "Blade") for May 13th, followed by heavy hitters HTC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> and HTC Rhodium (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchPro2/">Touch Pro2</a>) for July 1st / 22nd, respectively. Rounding out the list is a pre-paid Nokia 1661 for April 29th, a mysterious Sony Ericsson CS8 for June 24th, six Samsung T-series phones all debuting between May 6th and August 19th, and a big, fat "TBD" for the HTC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Magic/">Magic</a> (Sapphire). What the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> lacks in flair, it makes up for in sheer, unadulterated function -- and having an utterly awesome keyboard certainly helps in that regard. It's easy to pass off HTC's latest portrait QWERTY handset as a bit frumpy from photographs, but trust us when we say that it's totally passable in person (some might even call it insanely attractive) -- think of it as the anti-<a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/8900/">8900</a>, if you will. Pictured on the Snap above is the configuration screen for Inner Circle, which HTC also introduced this week. There's really not much to it -- you can add email addresses from your address book or from incoming emails, and when Inner Circle is enabled, only emails from those contacts will be visible in the Snap's unified account-agnostic inbox. It's a great idea for shutting out the electronic noise most of us experience in our day-to-day lives, and we're hoping this little feature finds its way to HTC's full WinMo lineup going forward. Follow the break for a video tour of the phone (and pay close attention, Yanks, 'cause it'll be coming your way as the S522 in the next few months).<br />

What the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snap/">Snap</a> lacks in flair, it makes up for in sheer, unadulterated function -- and having an utterly awesome keyboard certainly helps in that regard. It's easy to pass off HTC's latest portrait QWERTY handset as a bit frumpy from photographs, but trust us when we say that it's totally passable in person (some might even call it insanely attractive) -- think of it as the anti-<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/8900/">8900</a>, if you will.

Since the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Excalibur/">Excalibur</a> and <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Cavalier/">Cavalier</a>, HTC's shown an unhealthy aversion for the immensely popular portrait QWERTY format -- until now, that is, with the introduction of the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/03/18/htcs-qwerty-packin-maple-rumored-for-april-release/">rumored</a> 12mm-thick HTC Snap. The Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard smartphone features a 528MHz Qualcomm core, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM, 2 megapixel camera, microSDHC expansion, and the requisite QVGA display, all paired with AGPS, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi, and HSDPA data. "What kind of HSDPA?" is the next logical question in that progression, and the answer is that you're looking at two versions of the device: one with 900 / 2100 for Europe and Asia, one with 850 / 1900 for North America (interestingly, the North American version won't be known as the Snap -- instead, it'll simply be called the S522). The new device also marks the introduction of HTC's "Inner Circle" feature, which can selectively pull emails from certain contacts to the top of your inbox -- the perfect way to ignore Terry from Accounting who's been on your case for the past three weeks about filing expense reports. Look for the Snap to launch globally this quarter, while the unlocked S522 hits "during the summer."<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-snap-snaps-to-life-coming-to-us-as-s522/">HTC Snap snaps to life, coming to US as S522</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-snap-snaps-to-life-coming-to-us-as-s522/#1464579"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/htc-snap-ofc-00_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-snap-snaps-to-life-coming-to-us-as-s522/#1464581"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/htc-snap-ofc-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-snap-snaps-to-life-coming-to-us-as-s522/#1464582"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/htc-snap-ofc-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-snap-snaps-to-life-coming-to-us-as-s522/#1464583"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/htc-snap-ofc-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-snap-snaps-to-life-coming-to-us-as-s522/#1464584"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/htc-snap-ofc-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/01/htc-snap-snaps-to-life-coming-to-us-as-s522/">HTC Snap snaps to life, coming to US as S522</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 01 Apr 2009 09:29:00 EST.
