Japan's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a> earned a warm place in our collective nerd bosom long ago for the sheer lunacy of the products it creates. Today it's offering round two of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/">Crazy Earphone</a> collection that includes some kind of mushroom (that <em>is</em> a mushroom, right?), the ol' Katana blade or arrow through the head trick, and a parasitical, conjoined ear if you want everyone to think you've been subjected to a tragic cloning experiment. Spec-wise your &yen;2,000 (about $22) will take home a pair of in-ear buds with 20 ~ 20,000Hz frequency range assisted by a 10-mm driver. Not that it matters: there's no chance in hell that you're buying these for performance reasons.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solidalliances-crazy-earphones-are-wild-and-crazy-in-japan/">SolidAlliance's Crazy Earphones are wild and crazy in Japan</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solidalliances-crazy-earphones-are-wild-and-crazy-in-japan/#2745387"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/091224crazyearphone2nd4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solidalliances-crazy-earphones-are-wild-and-crazy-in-japan/#2745388"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/091224crazyearphone2nd3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solidalliances-crazy-earphones-are-wild-and-crazy-in-japan/#2745389"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/091224crazyearphone2nd3-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solidalliances-crazy-earphones-are-wild-and-crazy-in-japan/#2745390"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/091224crazyearphone2nd2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solidalliances-crazy-earphones-are-wild-and-crazy-in-japan/#2745391"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/091224crazyearphone2nd2-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/26/solidalliances-crazy-earphones-v2-because-ear-fungus-sells/">SolidAlliance's Crazy Earphones v2: because ear fungus sells</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 26 Feb 2010 05:29:00 EST. So, you broke the bank (and several credit cards) picking up that uber-stylish <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/02/acronyms-pmp-loving-jacket-keeps-your-earbuds-safe-murders-you/">Acronym GT-J14</a> earbud-friendly jacket only to find that no one even noticed? Or perhaps your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/07/headphone-shocker-lady-gaga-beats-by-dr-dre-and-monster-cable/">Lady GaGa-approved beats</a> couldn't endure the <em>Paris Is Burning</em>-style bad craziness you put 'em through? Well, it looks like it's time to sell a pint of plasma and use the cash for some psychedelic (and highly unfortunate) Crazy Earphones from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SolidAlliance/">Solid Alliance</a>. Featuring a banana, a kitty paw print, sushi, or a Frankenstein's monster-esque bolt affectation, we promise you that a pair of these<em> will</em> get you noticed. But not in the good way. Pre-order now for $22, shipping in December.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/">Solid Alliance's new earbuds are 'crazy,' ugly</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/#2381937"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/091021-crazyearphone-g05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/#2381936"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/091021-crazyearphone-g04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/#2381935"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/091021-crazyearphone-g03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/#2381934"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/091021-crazyearphone-g02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/#2381933"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/091021-crazyearphone-g01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-19146-Solid+Alliance+new+Crazy+earphones.html">Akihabara</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/solid-alliances-new-earbuds-are-crazy-ugly/">Solid Alliance's new earbuds are 'crazy,' ugly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 09:36:00 EST. The Greek goddess of memory, Mnemosyne, would surely be proud of this product bearing her name. For starters, it comes at a price few mere mortals can afford and is couched within an extravagant all-aluminum body. The puzzle cube certainly provides a ceremonial feel to accessing the data within, and makers <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/21/solid-alliances-2gb-usb-skull-ring-helps-rpg-players-look-tough/">Solid Alliance</a> are pitching it as a luxurious receptacle for your most treasured memories. Yes, under all the sheen, you are still looking at 16GB of standard issue flash memory, but can we really put a price on mythology-infused style?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/02/solid-alliances-10-000-mnemosyne-usb-drive-is-built-for-style/">Solid Alliance's $10,000 Mnemosyne USB drive is built for style, not convenience</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 05:47:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">We'll be straight with you: there's no single expression of bad-assery more potent in the polyhedral kingdom of nerdistan than the USB Skull Ring. Brought to you by Solid Alliance, the 2GB USB drive feels right at home transferring files to your PC or at the end of a fist, deftly buried into the gut of a Moradin dwarf. Your choice for $145, no seriously. One more hair-free shot after the break.<br /></div>

We can't say that no one has ever doled out a USB flash drive with a hint of Lego <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/31/zip-zip-offers-up-usb-flash-drives-within-lego-blocks/">before</a>, but how could one ever complain about <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/26/the-lego-flash-drive/">more</a>? This go 'round, it's Solid Alliance doing the deed with its USB Brick Key. The device arrives doused in green, black, blue or red and offers up 1GB of internal storage space, but unfortunately, pricing is one detail it failed to divulge. Feel free to take one last peek after the jump, you know you can't resist.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_details.php?id=15572">AkihabaraNews</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/26/solid-alliance-offers-up-lego-like-usb-flash-drives/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Solid Alliance offers up Lego-like USB flash drives</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/26/solid-alliance-offers-up-lego-like-usb-flash-drives/">Solid Alliance offers up Lego-like USB flash drives</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 26 Feb 2008 09:20:00 EST. We've already seen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/16/sweet-delicious-swag-sony-sends-ps3-birthday-cakes-to-the-pres/">Sony</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/19/happy-birthday-wii/">Nintendo</a> (er, an avid fanboy) get down with their bad selves and celebrate with cakes that represent their respective milestones, but Solid Alliance is out to make sure no one gets shunned from the festivities. That's right kids, even the USB obsessed can find a reason to party down, as the limited edition four-port USB cake enables you to connect up a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/20/hello-kitty-embraces-warming-blankets-gets-fired-up-via-usb/">variety</a> of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/26/usb-powered-g-gloves-for-the-ladies/">warming</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/24/thankos-usb-slippers-or-mittens/">gizmos</a> to keep your person toasty while surfing through the cold, blustery days that lie ahead. Additionally, the cake comes with four strawberry flash drives, each of which pack a full gigabyte of delicious storage space. Better hurry, though -- reservations are only being accepted through December 3rd, and you can expect the cake and all of its trimmings to run you a staggering &yen;50,000 ($453).<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.fareastgizmos.com/computing/christmas_cake_style_usb_hub_for_455.php">FarEastGizmos</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/20/solid-alliance-celebrates-with-four-port-usb-cake/">Solid Alliance celebrates with four-port USB cake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 20 Nov 2007 16:59:00 EST. If the talking <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/heart/">heart</a> mouse was the brain child of anyone other than <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SolidAlliance/">Solid Alliance</a>, we'd probably question its legitimacy, but considering that zany is this company's mantra, we're not surprised in the least. On the surface, this shiny red USB <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mouse/">mouse</a> boasts a left and right click, a scroll-wheel, and a heartfelt (ahem) design, but apparently, this thing also emits optimistic phrases (read: I love you) to keep you mousing even when fighting through carpal tunnel syndrome. It's a little late (or way early, depending on perspective) for Valentine's Day, but for &yen;1,980 ($17), why not treat someone special anyway?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.fareastgizmos.com/computing/talking_heart_shaped_optical_mouse.php">FarEastGizmos</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/17/solid-alliance-cranks-out-talking-heart-mouse/">Solid Alliance cranks out talking heart mouse</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 17 Aug 2007 02:26:00 EST. We know, you're probably on your third <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/USBhub/">USB hub</a> by now, but even if this forces you to purchase an entirely new machine in order to cram one more <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/USBpowered/">USB-powered</a> whatchamacallit into it, it's simply a must. Meet Tengu, the USB lip syncer that politely sits beside your machine until it gets wind of nearby tunes, after which its face lights up and the digital mouth begins to try its best at matching the words coming from your speakers. Unsurprisingly, the design will reportedly be manufactured by none other than <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SolidAlliance/">Solid Alliance</a>, and while it's hard to realize how awe-inspiring this thing is in just the picture above, click on through for a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/video/">video</a> demonstration you won't soon forget.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.everythingusb.com/tengu_usb_13085.html">EverythingUSB</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/03/lip-syncing-tengu-adds-some-merriment-to-your-usb-port/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lip syncing Tengu adds some merriment to your USB port</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. Oh dork lord incarnate, meet the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a> 3-port USB Engine Hub. Modeled after a motorcycle engine, SolidA's latest features a kick starter, gear shift, and enough faux-engine revving effects to drive everyone around you nuts. <strike>No word on price yet</strike>, but it's available starting tomorrow in Japan. Now check the video action after the break.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Priced at &yen;5,250 or about $43, vroom vroom daddy, vroom vroom.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/26/solidalliances-usb-2-0-engine-hub-drives-your-geek-cred/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SolidAlliance's USB 2.0 Engine HUB drives up your geek cred</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. If you thought Asus' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/05/asus-shows-far-out-aura-concept-phone/">Aura concept phone</a> was otherworldly, you haven't seen anything yet. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a> is back yet again with another zany and completely unnecessary cellphone <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/18/solid-alliance-phones-home-with-ufo-detector-warns-of-imminent/">accessory</a> that purportedly changes hues based on the planetary mojo that's currently going on around it. There's not much to the Aura Controller besides it varying colors in response to faux psychic waves and totally bulking up your pocket when it's getting carried around, but hey, that's the price you pay to stand out. As if we needed to tell you, this one can be one found in none other than Japan for about $27.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/10/solidalliance-goes-psychic-with-aura-controller-orb/">SolidAlliance goes psychic with Aura Controller orb</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 10 Jun 2007 23:47:00 EST. Oh yes <em>it is</em> a gadget. Look closely -- but not too closely -- into this queasy sea of food-like twaddle and you'll spot a foursome of USB connectors. That's right, that <s>pile of legless larvae</s> Rice-Tomato thingy is the hub while the other courses pack 1GB of flash memory. This USB FoodHub is claimed in the name of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a>, who else. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-13651-FoodHub+et+FoodDish+USB+by+SolidAlliance.html">Akihabara News</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. The only thing that could be possibly trump an interview with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/04/thankos-ceo-interviewed-the-man-behind-the-usb-mask/">CEO of Thanko</a>, is an interview with the CEO from Japan's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a>. You know, SolidA, the eccentric kooks behind the original <a href="http://www.engadget.com/entry/1771101666610756/">USB Sushi</a> and other such master crapsmanship. Mister Karahara sat down with Akihabara News to display the best of the best. Who knew that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/04/02/usb-ghost-detector/">Ghost Detector</a> really worked!? According to Kawahara-san a lot of customers have "actually found a ghost, just try it." Okaaay. Unfortunately, the <a href="http://japanese.engadget.com/2006/11/17/ufo-and-alien-infiltrater-detector/">UFO Detector</a> has not been so successful; SolidAlliance has "not heard of people finding the UFO, yet. But if you have any feedback, just call us." Oh... we will, we will, right after we get off the horn with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/02/french-space-agency-to-launch-ufo-archive/">French space agency</a>. Nah, we're not surprised in the least that the zany gurus at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=SolidAlliance">SolidAlliance</a> have found a way to crank out yet another completely bizarre <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/usb/">USB</a>-related gizmo, and the Xstamper <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=usb+Drive">USB thumb drive</a> / stamp hybrid certainly fits the atypical bill. Reportedly useful as a type of Japanese notarization device, the stamping abilities of this 256MB USB drive allow "official stamps (ahem) of approval" to be handily applied without forcing you to hunt down your dedicated depressor. Of course, the snazzy carrying tube and quarter-gigabyte of internal storage just about top off the amenities, but if you're looking to add one more off-kilter device to your keychain assortment, SolidAlliance's latest can be snapped up now for &yen;3,790 (or about $32).<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-13610-Geek%20USB%20Stamp%20by%20SolidAlliance.html">AkihabaraNews</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/10/solidalliance-kicks-out-bizarre-usb-thumb-drive-stamp/">SolidAlliance kicks out bizarre USB thumb drive / stamp</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 10 Apr 2007 13:04:00 EST. What can we say? The latest mouse from SolidAlliance is so ugly, even the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/08/ristretto-coffee-mouse-brings-the-beans-and-the-ugly/">Ristretto coffee mouse</a> retches in disgust. This ain't no <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/06/solidalliances-omellete-mouse-cover-thats-rice-not-maggots/">SolidA mouse cover</a>, it's an honest to goodness USB "mouse" equipped with some kind of motion sensing dark magic; the same sort evoking bile from the pit of your bowels at this very moment. How much for this fistful of fake jewels? Wait for it... &yen;15,600 or $131. Choikawadeco: Japanese for "a little bit cute." Feeling. Mmmm, nothing says "I'm a dangerous loner" like plugging a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a> USB <em>anything</em> into your PC. At least this time, the USB Horse Mackerel Sushi nudges SolidA's novelty flash drives just beyond the free tradeshow schwag range -- 1GB if you must know. But if storage was your primary interest you'd be spending your &yen;7,980 or $68 elsewhere.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?&amp;u=http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2007/0320/solid.htm">Impress</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/20/solidalliance-coughs-up-1gb-of-usb-horse-mackerel/">SolidAlliance coughs up 1GB of USB Horse Mackerel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 20 Mar 2007 09:46:00 EST. It's been awhile since we've heard a peep out of Japan's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a>. Perhaps it's because the team has been so patiently waiting for their new Rice Omelette (Omuraice) mouse cover to putrefy. The first question of course, is why would you want to cover your mouse? And b... why with this? If you hold the answer to either of these riddles then perhaps you're also willing to part with the &yen;7,980 (about $69) required to take this one home. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-13405-The+SolidAlliance+Omuraice+%28Rice+Omelette%29+mouse+cover.html">Akihabara News</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. Anyone with even an ounce of geek cred has at least one of the many varieties of duck-shaped flash drives hanging obtrusively off of his or her computer, but up until now there hasn't really been a proper way to showcase these tributes to the whimsical bathtub days of youth. Well that's all about to change thanks to duck-loving <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=solidalliance">SolidAlliance</a>, who has just released a USB hub specifically designed for the iDuck, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2004/09/01/the-i-duck-love/">iDuck Love</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2004/03/04/the-devil-duckie/">Devil Duckie</a>, and their many, many brethren. What makes this particular hub so duck-tastic, you ask? For starters, its got pictures of USB ducks adorned above each input -- so, you know, you don't accidentally plug in your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=usb+sushi">sushi drives</a> or something stupid like that. You'd think that they'd also space out the USB jacks so that you could squeeze in three full-size ducks next to one another, but alas, it seems that you'll need some baby ducks (or ducklings, as it were) in the mix if you want to fill up all four slots. And if you don't have enough electronic waterfowl to justify a dedicated dock? No problem: these damn ducks are so popular nowadays that you can even pick up non-functional, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2004/11/30/the-iduck-usb-flash-memory-drive-only-without-the-flash/">completely ornamental models</a> to fill in the blanks.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/23/solidalliance-dock-puts-your-usb-ducks-in-a-row/">SolidAlliance dock puts your USB ducks in a row</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Jan 2007 22:29:00 EST. We all know that Solid Alliance <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/10/solidalliances-fatbear-usb-drive-gets-fat-scares-kids/">occasionally</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/03/solidalliances-850-mottainai-usb-drive-2gb-of-flash/">strays</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/03/solidalliances-850-mottainai-usb-drive-2gb-of-flash/">into</a> <em><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/29/who-ya-gonna-call-solid-alliance/">non</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/08/solidalliances-icool-scented-mp3-player/">compos</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/08/solidalliances-icool-scented-mp3-player/">mentis</a></em>, but check this one, childrens. The Kore Ja Nai sure looks like a wooden toy robot, right? But that name translates roughly into "this is not it" and is purposely meant to invoke painful feelings from childhood. You know, like the time you opened that present full of yule and hopes of Atari only to find a lameazz Slinky inside. As such, the Kore Ja Nai won't <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=roomba">clean your floor</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/16/giant-panda-robots-extinction-solved/">rid the planet of the human scourge</a>, oh no, this &yen;7,329 / $64 non-robot is merely a USB stick capable of transporting a paltry 256MBs of say, your Excel spreadsheets. And it's made from plastic! Thanks Solid A, all that whiskey therapy and time spent in dangerous relationships just to bury those memories, wasted. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?&amp;u=http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2006/1207/solid.htm">Impress</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/07/solid-alliances-kore-ja-nai-makes-you-cry/">Solid Alliance's Kore Ja Nai makes you cry</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 07 Dec 2006 08:46:00 EST. If your kids have grown wise to your idle threats of coal in the stocking, then how about letting them play with FATBEAR in their fairy-tale lands of candy-cane slides and soda-pop fountains. Then, when that toddler steps out line, just rip off the bear's head and delight in the screams of compliance. Now this isn't just any ol' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/05/17/roomba-robot-love-me/">child-herding</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/18/usb-teddy-bear-holds-data-scares-children/">decapitated teddy bear</a> mind you, FATBEAR -- which is more like your creepy uncle LEGO Man in a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2004/05/11/grizzly-bear-fighting-suits-for-sale-on-ebay/">bear</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/16/giant-panda-robots-extinction-solved/">suit</a> -- is from none other than Japan's own, SolidAlliance and offered up deadpan with a tagline of "let me taste your sweet memory." Start feeding FATBEAR up to 256MB of your data and this little plastic furball actually begins to grow, we think -- oh please god of the craplastic, let it be so! Of course, his powers of recall will be wiped quicker than you can breathlessly utter "eeer," after tapping that belly for a USB bong. Available now for &yen;3,980 (about $34) for the 256MB model or just &yen;1,980 (about $17) for the 128MB version -- but worth it at any price. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?&amp;u=http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2006/1110/solid.htm">Impress</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/10/solidalliances-fatbear-usb-drive-gets-fat-scares-kids/">SolidAlliance's FATBEAR USB drive: gets fat, scares kids</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 10 Nov 2006 08:25:00 EST. Obviously, at 2GB it's not about capacity here, this gold and brass drive is a salute to ostentatious pomp with embedded Statsuma Kiriko crystal. Make them crystals spin Solid-A and we might pop for a few ourselves. You have until November 10th to get your design in (a template's provided on the page linked below), with the winning design chosen shortly thereafter on November 21st. So what exactly do you get for all your hard-fought Photoshopping, apart from the adoration of flash drive users across Japan? Why a USB drive of your own with your design on it, of course, with all the design rights given to Solid Alliance for them to do with what they please. Ah, the price of fame.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-12692-Customize+your+USB+key+with+SolidAlliance%21.html">Akihabara News</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/27/design-a-usb-flash-drive-for-solid-alliance-and-win-a-usb-fla/">Design a USB flash drive for Solid Alliance and win... a USB flash drive!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 27 Oct 2006 22:45:00 EST. You are getting sleepy, very sleepy. You eyelids are slowly drooping, drooping down. You have seen your fair share of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=%22usb+flash+drive%22">USB flash drives</a>, but this 256MB USB pendant from Solid Alliance is certainly a first. In addition to acting like a plain old storage device, the pendant promises to help you find your lost items just by loading photos of them onto the drive -- which admittedly could prove a bit challenging since the object is, well, lost. You then simply hold out the pendant and let it lead the way. You will not question its dubious efficacy, and you can get one for &yen;9,800 (that's $85 US). When we snap our fingers, you will wake up feeling refreshed, and unaware this occurred.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fjapanese.engadget.com%2F2006%2F08%2F04%2Fusb-dowsing-pendulum%2F&amp;langpair=ja%7Cen&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8">Engadget Japanese</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. Keeping with our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/18/sigmas-usb-audio-hub/">theme</a> of lame and gimmicky USB hubs, we have this little number from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=%22Solid+Alliance%22">Solid Alliance</a>. While we have no idea why someone would make a USB 2.0 hub in the shape of a button that could spark a civilization-ending nuclear war, we really can't fault them for creativity. We're also not sure why machine translation so consistently presents this as the "suicide bombing button," but take that as you will. There is no real functionality gained by the stylings, other than some blinky lights and blasting sound effect when you do activate the doomsday button, but it might just come in handy in light of a international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpc.watch.impress.co.jp%2Fdocs%2F2006%2F0718%2Fsolid.htm&amp;langpair=ja%7Cen&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8">Impress</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/18/solid-alliances-usb-hub-shaped-like-the-button/">Solid Alliance's USB hub shaped like "The Button"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 18 Jul 2006 16:58:00 EST. We know <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=%22solid+alliance%22">Solid Alliance</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=solidalliance">makes some zany crap</a>, and it's not like we'd really put it past them to bust out something so absurd as a supernatural phenomena detection kit -- <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/04/02/usb-ghost-detector/">which the did last year</a>. But once wasn't enough; they've teamed up with Hong Kong firm Akkord International on a parapsychology device laboratory to produce a full array of "ghost radar" products to help you bust that slimer that's been keeping your kids up all night. If there were streams here we'd recommend they not be crossed -- not ever.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc.
