PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale lets fight sticks compete on PS3
Everyone knows the elegant weapon for a more civilized age is the fight stick, the tried-and-true sidearm of every fighting game fan the world over. And so SuperBot Entertainment announced on Facebook today that the PS3 version of PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale will support fight stick peripherals."Fans of the fighting game genre can use their favorite arcade-style controller to play Battle Royale to full effect," the Facebook post mentions. "Every attack, combo, and strategy that can be performed on the DualShock 3 controller is seamlessly mapped to arcade button layouts."Actually, there is one difference between using the fight stick and DualShock 3 – throwing. On the DualShock 3, the move is done using the right analog stick; on a fight stick, it'll be "an easy button combination, similar to many traditional fighting games."
Rumor: PlayStation All-Stars characters and stages leak all over the place [Update]
A slew of images reportedly pulled from a private beta of PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale shows off many of the game's characters and stages. An original image posted by Reddit user 696Ly is a leak in the truest sense of the word, as the word "leak" is written all over the picture (seen here).More visible images of 14 stages and 12 characters from the game were posted online by NeoGAF user miladesn. The images appear to be pulled from the game's stage and character select screens, including the BioShock Infinite-inspired "Columbia" stage seen above. We've reached out to Sony for confirmation.Update: The files pulled from the beta version of the game and posted to the thread on NeoGAF indicate that some of the characters listed may be unlockable. Cole McGrath, Jak and Daxter added to PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale roster [Update: Now with trailers!]
Cole McGrath of Infamous fame and Jak and Daxter of, well, Jak and Daxter fame were just revealed as the two latest additions to the PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale cast during a panel at SDCC. As seen in the announcement trailer above, Jak and Daxter will function as a pair of characters working in tandem and controlled by one player, sort of like Ice Climbers in Smash Bros. Jak will utilize signature weapons from his series, such as the Gyro Burster and Mass Inverter, and also has the ability to transform into Dark or Light Jax. Daxter will lend a hand with melee attacks, and probably provide moral support. Meanwhile, McGrath's move list is predictably lightning oriented. PlayStation All-Stars' combo system is more Marvel than Smash Bros.
PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale faces an interesting challenge in ingratiating itself to the patently skeptical fighting game world, as not only is it a brand new IP, but it's also a four-player brawler, rather than a "traditional" 2D or 3D fighter.The game's combo system, however, has more in common with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 than it does any iteration of the Super Smash Bros. series, as is evident by the trailer above. Speaking personally, we love the idea of legitimate combos in a brawler setting, but we're also worried about keeping track of something that complicated during a fully-zoomed four-player fight. What if we get confused and do a forward quarter-circle instead of a backward quarter-circle? How embarrassing.

PlayStation All-Stars joined by Heihachi and Toro
The roster in Sony's mascot mashup, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, has grown by two more fighters. Heihachi Mishima from Namco Bandai's Tekken series, and Toro, cartoonish marketing feline for Sony Japan, have both been confirmed for launch (on October 23) by Sony during an EVO 2012 presentation.In addition to the new characters, a new stage called Dojo has been revealed. Dojo (depicted above) is inspired by Chop Chop Master Onion's stomping/chopping grounds, as seen in Parappa the Rapper.Update: The PlayStation Blog has posted videos of both characters, which we've embedded below the break.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale smashing bros on Oct. 23 in NA, Oct. 24 in EU
There's still lots that we don't know about SuperBot's PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, but today we learned when it'll arrive on store shelves: October 23. At least that's the case for North Americans – Europeans get the game on October 24. And yes, that's the same release date for both PlayStation 3 and Vita versions – Sony's not revealing pricing or more info until its EVO 2012 panel later today (6PM PT). Those scoundrels!The various costumes seen in the image above are part of the game's pre-order bonus, though someone should probably tell Sony that those giant yellow question marks are gonna look really weird in a fighting game. Honestly, who wants to play as question marks? Come on, guys.
Sony tags PlayStation All-Stars as 'Super Smash Bros.' on YouTube [Update: Removed!]

Smattering of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Vita domains registered by Sony
Hey, in case you didn't know, that Smash Bros.-esque PlayStation 3 game, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, is very likely also heading to PlayStation Vita. How likely? Pretty freakin' likely, especially considering the recently discovered group of domain registrations from Sony Computer Entertainment of America tied to URLs like "PlaystationAllStarsVita.com," "PS-AllStarsVita.com," and "PSAllStarsBattleRoyaleVita.com."As with so many of these discoveries, Superannuation spotted the URLs – URLs that pretty clearly identify a Vita-based version of the brawler. We'll be saying this a lot this week, so get used to it: we've reached out to Sony for more info, but only got "we don't comment on rumor or speculation" in return. We expect more info next week during E3.

PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale smashes through the PlayStation library
After months of rumors, Sony has officially revealed PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, a brawler featuring multiple franchises from the PlayStation library. As suggested back in November, the PlayStation 3 title is in development at SuperBot Entertainment. The now-official game was available for hands-on sessions at a recent PlayStation event in Los Angeles.The basic conceit of the game is that Sony decided to clone the concepts behind Nintendo's Smash Bros. series or Capcom's Power Stone. PlayStation All-Stars fits that characterization almost exactly: characters from various video game worlds battle in arenas, environments are pulled from recognizable franchises, and everything boils into an evolving bucket of crazy.But that doesn't discount that PlayStation All-Stars was a fun game to play, with some unique ideas that turn it into the video game equivalent of the instant-classic PlayStation television ad "Michael." Sure, it's Smash Bros. with PlayStation characters, but given the choice between Waluigi and Kratos, I'll gladly go with the God of War.%Gallery-154229%

It's a good thing that Sony registered a URL for PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, because developer SuperBot Entertainment has been working on a game named just that!Though rumors about the title have been swirling since November 2011, Sony is ready to reveal the brawler to the world. Taking cues from Nintendo's mash-up series, Smash Bros., SuperBot's first title sees recognizable PlayStation characters square off in four-player multiplayer arena-based battles. PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale is set to hit the PS3 later this year.Joystiq went hands-on with the game earlier this week and will have a preview available for your late-night reading pleasure momentarily.
Sony registers domain for 'PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale'
Back in November of last year, rumors swirled over Title Fight, which was reportedly an unannounced brawler/fighting game staring characters from various Sony and PlayStation-exclusive franchises, like Heavenly Sword and God of War.The game was said to be in development at SuperBot Entertainment, and that's about all that ever came of it, since the rumor died off almost as quickly as it had flared into life. Now though, new life has been injected into its whimpering husk with the registration of an extremely longwinded URL: http://www.playstationallstarsbattleroyale.comIf we follow the rumor train's logic tracks, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is Title Fight's actual name, and the game is set to be officially announced on Spike TV this Thursday. The URL does belong to "Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC," according to the its whois information, so that much at least has been verified as totes legit. As for whether this thing is what became of Title Fight, however, we'll have to wait and see. One thing's for sure, though: That URL is way too long.
Rumor: Sony working on a Smash Bros-esque fighter featuring Sony all-stars
The hat of "Sony Mascot" has been worn by many, many different critters and folk since the days of Crash Bandicoot and, uh, Croc. In fact, Sony's stable of lovable household names is so fully stocked that they've decided to pit their creations against one another to determine who lives and who dies. Okay so, that last part might be a little hyperbolic, but the rumor mill is operating at full capacity over Title Fight, a Super Smash Bros.-ish cross-franchise brawler reportedly in development at SuperBot Entertainment, according to The Paul Gale Network. If rumors are to be believed, the game will feature a cast of Sony-console specific characters like Nathan Drake, Sweet Tooth, Sly Cooper, that guy from Killzone and Fat Princess. Fights will take place in various Sony related locations such as Sandover Village or a golf course from Hot Shots Golf. The gallery of images below, which shows Sweet Tooth, a blank female form that may or may not be Heavenly Sword's Nariko and a debug screen that mentions Kratos, were tweeted (and subsequently deleted) by SuperBot Entertainment's senior level designer Chris Molina. Apparently, this hullabaloo is also what that franchise-rich teaser trailer from September was all about, which would also indicate the inclusion of Parappa the Rapper, as well as a representative from FOXHOUND. If all this pans out, Title Fight will be the latest in a long, proud history of SCEA-published fighting games like Battle Arena Toshinden and Cardinal Syn.
