Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is officially heading to Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall as a retail and digital game. This version of Dead or Alive 5 is so Ultimate because it includes modes from the Vita's Dead or Alive 5 Plus, new stages, new fighters and cameos from Ninja Gaiden – including levels such as Sky City Tokyo and the character Momiji, as was rumored earlier this week. "The largest lineup in DOA history includes the first ever appearance of Ninja Gaiden's Momiji, who utilizes the Hayabusa-style Aikijutsu taught to her by the master himself, Ryu Hayabusa," the Ultimate press release reads. Said lineup also appears to include the return of Leon, a fighter who debuted in Dead or Alive 2.%Gallery-187919%

An enhanced version of last year's Dead or Alive 5, dubbed Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, will fight its way onto the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at some point in the future, according to a story at Siliconera. The announcement, made in the pages of the latest issue of Famitsu, states that Ninja Gaiden's Momiji will be added as a playable fighter. Momiji's inclusion in a new Dead or Alive project was teased during a Japanese tournament late last month. We've reached out to Tecmo Koei for more information and will update with anything we learn regarding North American and European plans.

Team Ninja announced a new Dead or Alive 5 project this weekend, and it looks to be a new game featuring the Momiji character from the Ninja Gaiden series. As Shoryuken reports, the brief teaser trailer shown at the "TGN Playse #1" tournament didn't divulge much beyond it "coming soon" to Xbox 360 and PS3.The katana-brandishing Momiji first appeared in DS entry Dragon Sword, before gracing the series proper as a playable character in Ninja Gaiden 2. Ryu's apprentice then came to Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge as a playable character through DLC. Unlike some of Ninja Gaiden's protagonists, she's yet to star in Team Ninja's DoA series. When approached, a Tecmo Koei spokesperson said she was unable to comment.

Parent company Tecmo Koei will restructure its flagship studio Team Ninja into two individual groups, Ichigaya Development Group 1 and Ichigaya Development Group 2. In a statement today, Tecmo Koei confirms Yosuke Hayashi will oversee Group 1, while Fatal Frame series alum Keisuke Kikuchi will get a bump up to head of Group 2. We've followed up with Tecmo Koei to confirm how this reorganization may affect others at the Japanese development house. This news comes at a busy time for Tecmo Koei, who just launched Dead or Alive 5 Plus on the PS Vita and is currently gearing up to port Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge to the PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 2. A demo for Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is currently available on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

The recently announced demo of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge now has a release date: today. The demo is available now on PSN. Meanwhile, the Xbox Live version has yet to appear, though Tecmo tells Joystiq that is "definitely slated to go live today." The demo allows players to take on different sections of the game as either the series longstanding hero Ryu Hayabusa, or the purple-haired kunoichi, Ayane.

The Vita's Plus-enhanced port of Dead or Alive 5 gets hit with a demo "close" to the game's launch in North America on March 19. That may well mean it arrives after launch - Team Ninja was more concrete earlier this week about a Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge demo hitting before launch. As demos go, however, DOA5 Plus's looks like it'll provide a good sample of the game. It supports Cross-Play with PS3 players of DOA5 as well as the new Touch Fight mode, and includes eight stages and four characters to play as (Eliot, Hayabusa, Kasumi, and Tina) while fighting any of the roster as computer opponents. Also, being able to transfer save data from the demo to the actual game is always something of a Plus.

The upcoming re-release of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be accompanied by a demo on Xbox Live and PSN. An exact release date for the demo hasn't been announced, though it is promised to arrive before the game launches on April 2.A fresh batch of screens has also been released, featuring plenty of ninja moves and hot menu action. There are also a few shots of the previously announced SmartGlass features for the Xbox version, which allow players to keep track of their progress and watch YouTube strategy videos.%Gallery-180593%

It would make sense that Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on Xbox would use Xbox Smartglass to add tablet features, since it's based on a Wii U game (that's based on an Xbox 360 and PS3 game.)However, the Smartglass features are different from the inventory and off-TV play features used on the Wii U. Playing with the SmartGlass app loaded up on your phone or tablet allows you to keep track of your gameplay statistics. It also allows you to load up videos on YouTube of other players clearing the area you're in, to help you make your way.Razor's Edge will be available April 2 in North America, and April 5 in Europe.

As we originally learned last December, the "Touch Mode" in Dead or Alive 5 Plus places the player into a first-person environment that can either be oriented in portrait or landscape mode. Attacks are delivered by poking, pinching and/or flicking the opponent, all of which will result in jabs, throws and launchers, respectively.New screenshots also show off Dead or Alive 5 Plus' enhanced Training Mode capabilities, and they even manage to do so with characters that are, for the most part, wearing clothes. There are two inexplicable cheerleader outfits in there, though, so we guess you can't win 'em all.%Gallery-178850%

A new patch has been issued for Dead or Alive 5, available today on the PS3 and next week on Xbox 360, January 29 – a patch that institutes a dizzying array of character-specific fixes, plus a lengthy list of general purpose balances. Seriously, it's a massive list, so feel free to peruse all the numerous tweaks here. There's also a free island paradise-themed level included in the Dead or Alive 5 version 1.03 update for all players: Zack Island. It's all part of a one-two punch (see what we did there?) that includes the 1.03 update and its free content, followed by several island-appropriate outfits available should fighters wish to throw down a bit of cash for dress-up. Of course, the attire in question is swimsuits. It was never going to be anything but swimsuits.%Gallery-176958%

Dead or Alive 5 Plus for the PlayStation Vita will not only allow players to challenge PlayStation 3 owners during online play, but also save a bundle on their provocative-costume bill. Well, in-game at least.Team Ninja's coming portable adaptation of last September's Dead or Alive 5 will support both Cross Play and Cross Buy functionality, according to Siliconera's translation of Famitsu. Like other Cross Play enabled titles, Vita owners will be able to challenge people playing the PlayStation 3 original when battling online. Likewise, any DLC purchased on either system will automatically be applied to the other, meaning that the PS3's limited edition/pre-order costumes will appear on the Vita, and vice-versa.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Team Ninja's second and sharper stab at last year's Ryu Hayabusa outing, is to be Australia's first game classified as R18+.Australia's harsh video game restrictions have been criticized for years. The country passed a bill in June allowing the sale of video games targeted at players 15 years of age and older. As of January 1, 2013, these new laws allow for the sale of games like Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, making it the first adult video game to launch in Australia.

Previously announced only for "consoles," it appears that Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be heading specifically to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The news comes via a batch of job listings for developer Spark Unlimited (which is also handling Lost Planet 3), which identify Yaiba as "a bold new take on 3rd Person slasher with Horror elements for the PS3 and Xbox 360."So there you have it, any fears (hopes?) that Yaiba would debut only on the next generation of consoles have been cut down like a cybernetic zombie ninja.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus is slashing its way onto PlayStation Vitas on February 26, 2013 in the US. It will then scurry into the night before suddenly emerging in Europe on March 1, except in France, where it arrives on February 28. The dates were revealed on the game's newly launched website. The Vita port of the PS3 port of Ninja Gaiden 2 includes new features, such as the ability to switch between ninja heroes mid-battle, and the self-descriptive Ninja Race mode. The PS Vita is getting its Plus port of Dead or Alive 5 on March 19, 2013. Team Ninja confirmed earlier this week that the fighter is due in Europe and Australia on March 22, but the developer revealed the US release date via the game's newly launched website. Dead or Alive 5 Plus is bringing few extras to Sony's handheld. With the Vita held vertically, you can use its motion sensor to get a full-screen, first-person view of your opponent, while publisher Tecmo says the port's touch controls will let you trigger moves via "simple taps, swipes, and pinches on your opponent."

Dead or Alive 5 Plus for Vita includes a new first-person mode, in which you hold the Vita vertically and use the motion sensor for a "first-person, full-screen view of your opponent."The port also has new touch controls, which go beyond the expected touchscreen macros – "Simple taps, swipes, and pinches on your opponent trigger a variety of devastating moves," Tecmo says. In addition, DOA5+ offers detailed frame data for serious study. Uh, for tournament play.
