As always, Monday kicks off a brand-new theme here on One Shots! We're taking a look at your favorite characters, beginning with reader Teranu: Setsujinneko is the product of excessive dabbling in Champions Online's remarkably robust character creator. She's a flat-chested, gun-toting, naked, furry catgirl - and she's one of the less out-there characters I've made in the game! (Others include a tattooed demon-like little girl with super strength that fights in her skivvies, the "creator" of Setsujinneko who turned herself into a part-wolf anthromorph and fights with a tech-bow, and a magician lady cursed into the form of a bipedal jackal with goat legs and bull horns.) Though she looks superficially cute, I tend to think of her as a hard-nosed, humorless mercenary who only takes advantage of her preternatural feline reflexes and flexibility -- as well as the tech provided by the aforementioned wolf-girl -- to more easily attain what she wants. And what she wants, naturally, is moolah. She's also genre-savvy and makes sure to side herself with whomever is most likely to make it out of a given encounter alive, and with their freedoms intact. I absolutely love the fact that the game gives me the ability to create such outrageously outlandish character designs -- the kind of stuff you'd never, ever see in an actual comic book (or anything, really) because it's just too niche or unmarketable. I hope to see plenty of MMOs in the future follow suit -- maybe not quite as ridiculously variable, but at least giving me the options I need to create characters that no developer would risk having as a major part of the story. We've taken a look at all of your accessories over the past weeks on One Shots: weapons, armor, mounts, and pets, but now it's time to turn the spotlight on the star of the show. We want to see you -- well, your character. Snap a screenshot of your favorite character in your favorite MMO. Let us know about him or her by sending the screenshot, your name, and some information about the character to oneshots@massively.com, and we'll feature it here on One Shots! %Gallery-112285%

  • One Shots: Both cute and functional -- it's a win-win

Aion pets are up for today's One Shots. Massively reader Teranu has been playing Aion with an extra helping of cute lately: The Desert Naeda is quite possibly my favorite pet of all time. All they did was take an already-adorable little fox and crank all its cuteness values up to 11, and it works beautifully. Those huge ears aren't just for show, either - they're what lets it function as a warning pet, letting me know when Asmodian interlopers are near. I also like the pet for the prestige factor - they can only be attained by turning in a large quantity of Radiant Ops tokens, which themselves are only attainable through PvP dailies and weeklies (unless you exchange other tokens for them at a cost). Unfortunately, they decided to reduce the price of the pet after I attained it, making it much less of an accomplishment. Still, I've been able to admire its utterly adorable cuteness for months, making it worth the investment. Now it's your turn! Large or small, deadly or purely decorative, we want to see your favorite pet companion. Just let us know your name, the name of the game, and a little about your pet and how you acquired it. Send it all to oneshots@massively.com and we'll feature you and your pet on One Shots this week. %Gallery-112285%
