To coincide with its Xbox One debut earlier this week, HB Studios' picturesque golfing simulation The Golf Club has just exited Steam's Early Access program. Now available on Steam at $35, The Golf Club offers players a spartan simulation complemented by a wealth of gameplay options, including online multiplayer, impromptu tournament creation and a fully-featured course editor. The Golf Club lacks extraneous bits such as a tutorial or any useful guide to learning the game's unique swing mechanics, but that falls in line with The Golf Club's aim of being a golfing simulation aimed not at gamers, but at those who consider themselves both gamers and golfers. Alongside its Early Access exit, The Golf Club has been updated with a handful of new features including female golfers, additional objects and wildlife for the course editor and improved graphics. Full details on the final release version of The Golf Club can be found on Steam. [Image: HB Studios]

Virtual golfers looking for an alternative to EA's simulation franchise can now take a swing at The Golf Club, a new golf game from developer HB Studios that just hit Steam Early Access. Though HB warns would-be players that The Golf Club is not yet complete - a caveat that should be attached to all Early Access releases - the developer notes that this version of the game includes "the full core experience." Not only can players hit the polygonal links, either solo or with online pals, they can also build their own courses to share with others. As development rolls on, HB Studios plans to add tournament support as well as full-fledged tours. Best of all, to celebrate the Early Access debut, HB Studios is offering a 15 percent discount on The Golf Club for a limited time. More details are available on the game's Steam page. HB Studios' socially-driven golf simulator The Golf Club will launch for PC through Steam. The developer announced the news on its blog and says that after a closed beta on PC, The Golf Club will be made available as an Early Access game. The Golf Club, launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC this spring, features a social hub where players can share the game's procedurally-generated golf courses. Included editing tools will allow players to tweak those courses, and they can even create and share custom tournaments through the social hub. Founded in 2000, HB Studios is located in Nova Scotia, Canada. Throughout the 2000s HB Studios worked mostly on EA Sports games but most recently the studio is responsible for the out-of-left-field rhythm game, NBA Baller Beats. [Image: HB Studios]

HB Studios has announced a new golf game and direct competitor to EA's Tiger Woods games PGA Tour series: The Golf Club. As interesting as the game looks, can we all agree the title is a bit on the nose? The Golf Club, coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC, features procedurally-generated courses that can be shared with other players through the game's social media hub. Editing tools will allow users to fine-tune courses, and HB Studios says loading and wait times between holes will be next to zero thanks to the nature of the game's procedural generation. Users can even create and share custom tournaments and tours. The Golf Club is built on the Unity engine and plans to – wait for it – take a swing this spring.
