  • Obama says presidential BlackBerry ownership is 'no fun,' should've gone with the Sectera Edge

It's hard out there for a prez, you know? Hardly anyone knows better than one Barack Obama, who sat down this morning on ABC's The View in order to talk smack with a few ladies who undoubtedly helped put him in office. If you'll recall, Obama fought hard early on for the privilege of maintaining his prized BlackBerry, and while he eventually won out, we learned today that a grand total of ten individuals are authorized to ping it. Yeah, ten. Needless to say, he described that depressing fact as "no fun," and even the folks that are cleared to make contact with it won't send over anything juicy. Why? They know that messages sent to it "will probably be subject to the presidential records act," so those lucky enough to have the digits are also smart enough to divert their ramblings to Texts From Last Night. But hey, at least hanging in there despite the limitations grants you early access to BlackBerry OS 6, right? Right?

  • Matthew Perry suffers Fallout 3-related injury, not radiation poisoning

Poor Matthew Perry. First, he gets trotted out on ABC's The View to promote the new movie 17 Again where he plays an old version of teen star Zach Efron. Second, he gets poked and prodded by the various deleterious hosts of the show. And finally, he gets quickly ushered offstage after admitting to playing so much Fallout 3 that he needed to see a doctor for his hands. As you'll see in the clip after the break, Perry quickly deflects the usual uninformed jibber jabber of View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, telling her, "This is something you know nothing about," and, managing to navigate the rest of the co-hostesses giggling, explains the hand pain he recently endured from hours spent patrolling the Capital Wasteland. Though Perry's latest film looks less like our cup of tea and more like a 'made for TV' movie, he just jumped up a few cool points in our books.

Just after hearing that the Ellen Degeneres Show would be going HD in a few short long months, another daytime favorite (or not, depending on perspective) will also be dipping its toes in the wondrous waters of off-site high-definition. Reportedly, the infamous chit-chat show is set to tape a week of episodes from Sin City next month, as it swoops in on Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from June 23rd through 27th. The excursion will mark the first time The View has broadcast in HDTV while on location, though no details of further involvement were mentioned. [Image courtesy of Yahoo!]

Each year, Philip Swann compiles the best and worst looking celebs in the high-def world. Teri Hatcher was number one last year but thankfully for her sake, Rosie O'Donnell joined The View right when the show made the transition to HD. The Shock Jock himself, Howard Stern, brook his way into the list at number two followed by the still desperate Teri Hatcher and the living proof that money cannot buy beauty after two kids and a dead-beat hubby, Britney Spears. Rosie's fellow cast member Barbara Walters hit number five hard followed by Burt Reynolds at number six and another View host The Today Show host, Meredith Vieira at number seven. The last three on this years list isn't that big of a surprise with Madonna at number eight, Mick Jagger at number nine and Ray Liotta of CBS's new crime drama Smith, holding down the number ten spot.

  • Oprah going HD in 2007?

Is Oprah going HD next year? We hope so for the sake of total HD domination but the source of this info is a bit sketchy. There is a good amount info from this thread (and website) but, still, we just don't know. There is something about information coming from a random forum without a source that makes this information, er, shady. According to the post however, Oprah is going 16:9 SD in January '07 and full HD the following September. Now that The View is high-def and it looks like Oprah is going sometime within the next year, women are now a prime target for HDTVs. [Thanks, Andy]

  • ABC's The View going high-def September 5

One of the two TV shows needed to bring women to high definition is now going 720p. The View will switch to HDTV format September 5 as they add new host Rosie O'Donnell. While Oprah is still in SD, ABC also broadcasts Good Morning America in high def. Jessica Simpson will be a special guest on the episode, in case you needed a better reason to get up before noon other than seeing Barbara Walters (but not Star Jones) in 720 stunning vertical lines of resolution. With MHD, Food Network and now daytime television following primetime programming to HDTVs, the day when your mother/daughter/sister calls you to ask "What do you think about LCD vs. plasma TVs?" draws that much closer.
