We should have seen this coming, given that Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles recounts events from Resident Evil 2, but it never oc-curd to us: Tofu, the character from the hidden "Tofu Survivor" stage in RE2, will return for the Wii-exclusive rail shooter, as confirmed (or con-extra-firmed) in this trailer. But not as a protagonist: in Darkside Chronicles' Tofu Mode, many of the zombies are swapped out for gelatinous, crumbly, flavor-absorbing tofu. After the break, enjoy a trailer featuring some alternate costumes for the playable characters, all of whom are made of meat, as far as we know. %Gallery-73897%

If a Big Bird bender resulted in a bumpin' of nasties with Keepon, well, this would be the genetic result. Meet TOFU, the "squash and stretch" robot with OLED eyes developed by the big brains over at the MIT Media Lab. Tofu applies techniques of social expression long used by 2D animators to explore the impact on robotics. If cute was the goal then we'd call this project a success -- enslave us now oh furry overlords of doom. Video after the break.

  • Murloc bento box looks strangely tasty

A "bento" or "bento box" is a prepared meal in Japanese culture consisting of rice, some kind of meat (often sushi), and cooked vegetables. The big image above is a Murloc bento, put together by a WoW fan with some excellent culinary taste. The Murloc itself is made of cabbage, dyed tofu, and red and yellow pepper stripes, the hut to his left is made of Thai turkey meatballs and steamed cabbage, and the treasure chest is made of tofu and seaweed, while the sun and flowers are eggs.Very interesting. It's still a work-in-progress apparently (though considering that it's all food, it can't take too long to make, can it?), as the creator still wants to get teeth on the Murloc. But it looks pretty ready to eat as is -- the hut and the treasure chest, especially, look pretty delectable. [via PixelatedGeek, thanks, jessE!]

Yes, tofu. And it dances. Expect a First Impressions post for Whirled in the near future, boogieing soy critters and all!

Have you even been reading something online and wished it was in column format? I know I have, and now I don't have to suffer anymore. Tofu is a cool little application that takes in text and then renders it in columns (the number depends on the length of the text and the size of the window). Donations are accepted, but the app is free.
