Activision and Tony Hawk are developing a console game for 2015 that's poised to delight Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series fans, Hawk announced in a tweet today. There's also a mobile game incoming, he said. I'm currently working with Activision on a console game for 2015 (along with a new mobile game). I think fans of THPS series will be hyped. - Tony Hawk (@tonyhawk) November 7, 2014 Additionally, Hawk tweeted that the coming mobile game Shred Session "has been put on hold indefinitely." The previous console game to bear the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater moniker was 2012's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD (pictured above), developed by Robomodo and published by Activision. Activision has confirmed the company is once again collaborating with pro skater Tony Hawk on a new video game. "Activision can confirm that they have something in the works with Tony Hawk, more info is coming soon," a statement provided to IGN reads. Hawk first revealed the collaboration during a segment on SiriusXM's Demolition Radio show (via IGN), stating, "We're working on a game, we are working on a game, it's pretty cool." No further information about the project was provided. The last game to bear the Hawk moniker, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, was developed by Chicago studio Robomodo as a collection of fan-favorite levels from the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. That same studio also produced the faux-skateboard driven Tony Hawk: Ride in 2009 and its direct follow-up, Tony Hawk: Shred, in 2010. [Image: Activision]

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD managed to move into 120,000 hard drives during its first week on Xbox Live Arcade. Robomodo head honcho Josh Tsui told Gamasutra that early success will eventually lead to a "fuller game.""By making it 'lower risk' we were allowed to take some chances, which benefits both developer and publisher," Tsui said. He also noted that "the prospect of a fuller game is definitely on the table" and that it's "just a matter of when and how."Of course, first thing's first: PC and PS3 ports of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD are still waiting in the wings, as is some DLC focused around Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. But after that, Tsui seems to think Activision will be more open to publishing a new game.

Following the announcement of Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD, we were filled with nostalgia. We instantly put on some "Superman" and did some Google image searches for Warehouse. We were pumped. But then, a concern popped into our brain: would our beloved soundtracks from Tony Hawk Pro Skater and its sequel return? Is that a realistic expectation? According to the One of Swords blog, "probably not." "Right now, everything is unknown, and there's a lot more work to do before things are final," says Activision's Dan Amrich. He posits a few different scenarios, where the developers could chase licensing on these original tracks or simply license brand-new ones. If you're looking for all of your old favorites, you may end up disappointed. %Gallery-141619%

  • Tony Hawk 2 on the iPhone (and you'll probably never get to play it)

Yesterday, a video for what was supposedly Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on the iPhone leaked, but we here at Joystiq HQ couldn't really bring ourselves to believe it. The video -- it was pulled, but we've found another and placed it after the break for your scrutinizing eyes -- is suspect for a variety of reasons. But, even though we have a hard time believing it, the president of LTI Gray Matter, Daniel R. Chavez, told TouchArcade that it is, in fact, legit.Chavez says that his company merely used Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 "strictly as a 'test subject' and not at the request of Activision or anyone else." When LTI had finished and showed Activision what Chavez's company had come up with, it didn't express much interest in the title, sadly. And with a new game about to be revealed, Activision is concerned that marketing an iPhone game could cause confusion. It's a shame, really. THPS2 is arguably the best in the series, and based on the gameplay in the video after the break, it looks like it would be a fun time on the iPhone.

We haven't heard much on the latest Tony Hawk game that is supposed to be in development, aside from there supposedly being a peripheral key to gameplay that Activision is designing themselves. Well, we've got some news now: Neversoft, the developers who started the franchise, have handed off the duties to another developer. Why? Because they need to concentrate on Guitar Hero.So who's working on the new game? Well, word is that it's Robomodo, a developer that has some ex-EA employees within its ranks. Turns out part of that rumor from EGM was true. We're fully expecting an announcement soon, with a look at a new peripheral to play the game. Just look at what they're doing with the DS game.[Via Joystiq]
