The Lego Apple Store pops up in Christmas Village to help items for Toys for Tots
As a regular reader of TUAW, you've probably heard of the Lego Apple Store. Designed and built by Lego enthusiast John Lazar, the store is a remarkably faithful recreation of Apple's retail outlets. Now the miniature storefront is hitting the road, making a guest appearance at the 2013 Winter Wonderland Village in Hamilton, Va. On December 14, 2013 from 6 PM to 9 PM, the Village will be open for display to the public as part of a benefit for Toys for Tots. The 350-square-foot Winter Wonderland Village combines animation, sound and lights to put your mother's snow village to shame. Sorry Mom... please forgive me. This year's town features the first appearance of the Lego Apple Store, theoretically slinging iPads and MacBooks to the village's tiny inhabitants. Other features in the village include a detailed town square fountain, miniature houses, a ski village with a working gondola, skiers with an animated ski school, a working carnival with over 50 rides and attractions, a working train, a football field and a strip mall. The strip mall will feature miniature versions of stores from sponsors Home Depot, Walmart, Harley-Davidson, Starbucks, Wegmans and Chick-Fil-A. Finally, when it's time for the holidays to be over, the citizens of Winter Wonderland can fly home from the town's airport. Yeah, it's even got an airport. Admission is free, though attendees are required to bring a new, unopened toy to gain entrance. The event's address is 16806 Heather Knolls Place Hamilton, VA 20158.
