Nintendo has laid out its 2014 indie eShop lineup for the next few months: Mutant Mudds developer Renegade Kid has two games up for 3DS, Moon Chronicles in March and Treasurenauts in May. Wayforward's Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is due out in Q1, and Mojo Bones' side-scrolling bouncer, Siesta Fiesta, is due out in March, both for 3DS. Wii U's "Japan steam rock" platformer, Wooden Sen'Sey, is targeting a February launch, while Nicalis' 1,001 Spikes is due out in Q1 for both Wii U and 3DS. Nihilumbra, Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails and Squids Odyssey should land in March for Wii U. Teslagrad is aiming for March or April, and QUBE Director's Cut should launch in April, each for Wii U. For those who want to get their indie gaming on right now, the eShop's two-week Super Indie Connection Sale is live, offering a handful of games for 60 percent off, if you already own one of the games in the sale or if you buy one at full price. Sale games include Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Spin the Bottle, Toki Tori 2 and Mighty Switch Force. As a friendly reminder, Retro City Rampage DX is due out on February 6 for the 3DS eShop, and Shovel Knight hits Wii U and 3DS (and Steam) on March 31. [Image: Toxic Games]

Renegade Kid's plane-hopping platformer Mutant Mudds Deluxe will debut for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita on December 17 as a Cross-Buy release, studio co-founder Jools Watsham announced. The PSN version of Mutant Mudds Deluxe will be priced at $9.99, and includes Cross-Save functionality across both platforms. Players in Europe will need to wait a little longer before joining the fight against the Mudds, however, as Watsham notes that "the cost and logistical hassle" of age-rating submissions has delayed the game's European launch on PSN and the Wii U eShop. Watsham additionally revealed that work on the upcoming sequel Mutant Mudds 2 has been put on hold while the team finishes up work on its current project, Treasurenauts. "We feel that it is healthier/better for us to develop a new 2D platform game in between Mutant Mudds and Mutant Mudds 2 to maintain perspective on what Mutant Mudds 2 needs to be," he explained. Treasurenauts has been delayed to next year, and a release date for Mutant Mudds 2 has not been announced. Series fans have a new batch of content to look forward to, however, as Watsham revealed that the original Nintendo 3DS version of Mutant Mudds will receive a free update "sometime in 2014."

Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham announced that the studio's Nintendo 3DS platformer Treasurenauts will miss its previously announced December release date, and is now set to launch in the eShop in the first quarter of next year. "Don't worry, there's nothing wrong," Watsham assures. "The game means a lot to us, and we want to do it right. We need more time to make it the game we want it to be. [...] Sorry for the delay, but as an independent developer we rely on the success and revenue generated from each of our self-published games. More time = better game = better sales (hopefully)." Watsham notes that two new Renegade Kid-developed projects will be announced next year, including an unnamed 3DS game set for release in mid-2014. These two games will be developed alongside the studio's current projects, which include the survival horror game Cult County and a sequel to its plane-shifting platformer Mutant Mudds.
