Zombies!!! board game adaptation still in development, coming soon
It turns out a full console version of Zombies!!! is still shambling around, according to a new trailer and dev diary released this week. Developer Barbaroga has been working on a bigger and better video game version of the Twilight Creations board game for over two years now, though the project's been dark since late 2010.A version did get released on Windows Phone last year, but it's finally arriving soon, according to these videos, on Xbox Live, Windows, iOS and Android.The graphics have been updated, the gameplay and controls have been tweaked, and Babaroga has added asynchronous multiplayer features, so players will be able to trade turns back and forth. Babaroga says the full console version of Zombies!!! should be out as soon as "winter" this year.
Zombies!!! for XBLA shambling in Spring 2011
The last we'd heard of Zombies!!! for Xbox 360, an Xbox Live Arcade adaptation of the killer board game, it was seeking a new developer after the prior one lost its head. Turns out the Xbox Live Arcade version is still alive and will be handled by Babaroga, the same developer that just brought the game to Windows Phone 7.According to Twilight Creations, creators of the tile-based strategy board game, the XBLA version should be out sometime in the first quarter of 2011. Three years after it was first announced, it would seem the game is finally headed for a console release. Considering it's a game about classic zombies, we understand that development can shuffle along slowly.[Thanks, Andrew O.]
Zombies set to infect PSN with triple exclamation points
The zombie infection is spreading everywhere these days. You just can't get rid of these rotting, animate corpses. The PSN isn't a safe haven from them either. In fact, a fresh batch of undead will be hitting the digital distribution platform in the form of Zombies!!! (yes, with three exclamation points), which is based off the original board games by Twilight Creations. The downloadable title is being developed by Big Rooster and will be available sometime in 2009.[Thanks Dan S.! via X3F]
Zombies!!! confirmed for Xbox Live Arcade
After a rumor began circulating over the summer, Twilight Creations officially announced last week that its Zombies!!! board game is headed to Xbox Live Arcade. For those unfamiliar with the game (like us), it's a tile-based game that has players attempting to flee from the "ever-growing zombie horde." So, in other words, it sounds pretty much like the best board game of all time. Zombies!!! is being developed by Big Rooster, which is also working on bringing the board game Wings of War to XBLA. It's also worth noting that Big Rooster was the studio behind the recently canceled XBLA version of Talisman (hopefully not the beginning of a trend). We'll admit it. We've never played Zombies!!! before. Having said that, we have come to understand one thing: it's a board game ... about zombies. Is it really necessary to say anything else? We think not. Oh wait, there is one more thing to say: it might be headed to Xbox Live Arcade. A gamer tells Joystiq that he was told by Zombies!!! creator Twilight Creations "that they were already underway with this very project." Joystiq posed the question to Twilight Creations' Todd A. Breitenstein at Comic-Con and was told "I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of such a project... but do you think it would be cool?" A zombie board game on XBLA? Yeah, that sounds pretty cool.

Hopefully that's enough punctuation in one headline for you. Apparently an eager gamer had sent in some ideas on how to turn their Zombies!!! game, which pretty much keep them rolling in brains and entrails, into an Xbox Live Arcade title, and was told "that they were already underway with this very project." We decided this was something we needed to look into ourselves, given our love of tabletop gaming.We caught up with Todd A. Breitenstein of Twilight Creations in the extremely slim booth congregation at Comic-Con's gaming portion and he said, "I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of such a project... but do you think it would be cool?" A tile-flipping game was an escape from ravenous zombies plot? Heck yes, we would. While we enjoy getting our game on in Catan, Carcassonne, and even Ticket to Ride, we'd also love to see some good old-fashioned killing of the undead happening as well. Maybe they could even include their flipside game Humans!!! in the deal.[Thanks, Barry!]
