The other day we noted that our big-sister site Joystiq had some big plans in the works, including a new site design and the conglomeration of the former 'Fanboy' sites. Well, the changes have gone down and "Joystiq 3.0" is now live as of late last night. Many congratulations to the Joystiq staff for their new and shinier site. It's not just a slick new interface to your favorite game news blog, though, there's a lot of 'behind-the-scenes' goodness as well. There are larger images, easy access to video and podcasting, and a bunch more.Head over to the brand-new Joystiq.com and let them know what you think!

Well, here it is. The ascension has been completed: Xbox 360 Fanboy has become Joystiq Xbox. Aside from the new look, you'll notice that much more content is readily available. It's all up in your face. But, in a good way. Like a "hey, here's a bunch of gaming news if you want to read it, maybe" sort of way. If you scroll down some on the right side, you'll see the Xbox 360 Fancast has a module which streams the latest episode for you, allowing you to listen to the sweet sounds of Richard, Xav, Dustin, and Alexander while you read up on the latest Xbox 360 news. Episode 101 will drop sometime on Tuesday and the entire cast will discuss the new changes and why you should be excited. The podcast archive and streaming version has been fixed in the side module. Feeds should continue to work properly but you may experience a hiccup or two, the Zune podcast feed may experience issues for example. If you have trouble just leave us a comment. We're here to serve! The most important thing to keep in mind is that, while the name and look has changed, the spirit of Xbox 360 Fanboy lives on. This new, streamlined version of Joystiq Xbox has been developed to give you the best, up-to-date news on your favorite console with new and exciting content. You may notice other writers from within the network poking their heads in to drop in some news, so treat them with respect. After all, they are here to serve you, too!To recap, our look and name may have changed, but you're going to get the same experience here at Joystiq Xbox. We hope you like the new coat of paint and please tell us what you think in the comments!

So here we are: the new Joystiq. It's more than just a slick visual upgrade (and it's definitely that!). It's a whole new Joystiq network. You can use those tabs up top to drill down into the "spokes" – formerly known as the "Fanboy" sites – and then dive back into Joystiq. We've cleaned things up; reduced much of the link cruft; widened the content column; added video and podcast modules to the right rail; and added a new coat of polish to the entire operation. We'll have a full day's worth of gaming coverage for you tomorrow, as well as a tour of the new site and some guides for those of you who've been out of the game for awhile. Until then, let us know what you think of the new sites in the comments! We'll do our best to respond, but we'll definitely be listening to any and all feedback in there. We honestly could not have done any of this without a bunch of people assisting behind the curtain. A big thanks to Joystiq's newest hire, Mr. Justin Glow, for piecing this together with his bare hands; a big thanks to the Weblogs, Inc. design crew, especially Mr. Erik Sagen; Team Blogsmith, who not only built some much-needed custom functionality to make this crazy thing seaworthy but also did the heavy lifting that, frankly, the staff at Joystiq is in no shape to do on our own. And lastly, Marty Moe and Brad Hill for seeing things through – it helps to have friends in high places. PS- A very big thanks to everyone who joined us in the chatroom while we got this thing in the water!Update: We're ironing out some small issues with Joystiq PlayStation. hang tight! Fixed. --Justin

Well, folks, we've made it. Welcome to the new home for all things Nintendo here at Joystiq. We've had fun running DS Fanboy and Wii Fanboy for these last couple of years, but that was small potatoes, in all honesty. It was really only training for the long road ahead that would eventually lead here. A road paved with functionality and sexy design. A road that rewards a traveler not only with a cleaner, much more efficient way of getting gaming news and original content, but with a brand new, organized way to get at it.The new Joystiq Nintendo will be everything you loved about the old Nintendo Fanboys. You'll get the same editorial direction, but packaged in a far better manner. We're benefiting from this transition through a sleek, customized version of Joystiq. One that fans of the Nintendo Fanboy spaces before will hopefully come to love as much, if not more, than those previous blogs. You all made this happen because you choose to stop by our little corner of the internet every day and brighten our lives with your opinions and tips. We appreciate that and hope you all enjoy our move. We're hoping it gets you more content, much more quickly. Let us know what you think in the comments and we'll see you out there!

  • Joystiq announces conglomeration of subsites, new site look

Massively's big-sister site, Joystiq, is undergoing some pretty impressive changes. They're getting an all-new site look and a bunch of tech upgrades. More dramatic than that is their announcement that the console-specific 'Fanboy' websites are going to be merged with the central Joystiq URL. Xbox 360 Fanboy, for example, will become xbox.joystiq.com. I'll reiterate what Chris has to say about this here, that this is not the result of cutbacks, rollbacks, required layoffs, or anything of that nature. This is purely about making Joystiq a better site with an eye towards the future. Check out the full extent of the site's plans in Chris's post, or listen in on the latest edition of the Joystiq podcast so that Luddy, Chris, and Justin can explain it to you. From our side of things, Massively isn't going to be changing one bit as a result of this decision. Massively and our fellow bloggers at WoW Insider and Big Download have different sets of plans, ones we're really excited to be working towards. If you've come to enjoy Massively's take on the world of MMO gaming, worry not: we're not going anywhere.
