"Resident Evil 6" may not be representative of the number of Resident Evil games that exist in total, but it looks to be the title of the next entry in Capcom's long-running zombie series. A retail poster spotted by one GameStop-employed IGN reader outs the title, a November 20, 2012, launch date on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and a perfectly spooky drawing of the number six. Additionally, GamesBeat purports to have insider info from a Capcomer in the know, who says that RE6 will star series vets Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy. Everyone's favorite mysterious, violent lady, Ada Wong, is also rumored role in the yet-to-be-announced game. Scant other details were given, though it is said to be developed by an internal Japanese team at Capcom that's "aiming for a cross between the action/horror blend of Resident Evil 4 ... and the far more action-oriented Resident Evil 5." After The Sixth Axis tracked down Capcom as the source of a recent viral ad campaign ("No Hope Left"), the company's US reps refused to comment on the meaning of the ads. At the time, it seemed likely that the faux graffiti was tied to the Resident Evil franchise given the stylized biohazard symbol found on the "o" in "No," but now it seems all the more likely to be tied to an announcement at 5PM ET today, lining up with a notably direct video added to the ad's website (found after the break). We'll be here at 5PM -- and beyond, of course -- to let you know if we hear anything more official. Update 1: IGN is further reporting that both Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy will be playable characters, each teaming up with "unnamed partners" for their own campaign branches -- branches that will apparently cross paths at some point in the game. Ada Wong is supposed to be playable at some point after completing both Leon and Chris' storylines, though a third unnamed character will also have a campaign that must be completed as well before Wong is accessible. All three campaigns will allegedly be available from the jump, allowing players to jump between stories. And finally, RE6 is supposed to be set "across the globe," with China mentioned specifically. This is all according to "sources within the development team." Update 2: Capcom has since confirmed the game as heading to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 20 with a PC release to follow. • Capcom behind 'No Hope Left' viral ads (or widespread graffiti, depending on your perspective)

The "No Hope Left" ad campaign spotted in a variety of locations across Europe has been pinned to Capcom. At least that's according to The Sixth Axis, whose intrepid reporter schlepped down to the Vauxhall station in London after seeing an image pop up on the viral ad campaign's website. He spotted an ad company (Primesight) credited for the faux graffiti and emailed them to confirm who had bought said ad. He was told, "Panel number is 2375 03 Parry Street. The company advertising on it is CAPCOM." This makes a lot of sense, given the "O" in "No" looks like a stylized biohazard symbol (the name of the Resident Evil series in Japan). It would also not be surprising at all for a video-game company to post adverts marauding as graffiti, though we doubt this will draw as much ire as previous attempts. Either way, it looks like we'll find out more tomorrow, as the ads all point to a reveal on January 19, 2012. Here's hoping tomorrow doesn't accidentally coincide with the real zombie apocalypse. Boy would that be a lot of egg on Capcom's face, eh? [Image credit: NoHopeLeft.com]

You can't find Sony's name anywhere on this bit of video; it's a "viral" from Wolfbreeder, an LA ad firm that Sony can no-doubt distance itself from if it gets in trouble. But we won't tattle: the video above, which has been described for you succinctly in the headline above, the video which you've no doubt already watched and forwarded to that one friend of yours who still plays Wii regularly, is frankly badass. [Thanks, Bilbo]

  • Mass: We Pray is almost certainly a hoax

In a world where things like extreme Bible-reading apps exist, it was hard for us at first to accept that Mass: We Pray could be anything other than legit. After watching the alleged (read: probably fake) developer Prayer Works Interactive's over the top trailer for the game, though, we were fairly confident in casting doubt on the game's veracity. A quick WHOIS of the game's official homepage revealed nothing, and our email to the company was met with a boilerplate auto-response denying our request for more information. Add to that the complete lack of any business records with the Massachusetts Secretary of State's office (the company's alleged home state) nor in business-friendly Delaware, and the possibly offensive included accessories, and we've got a maybe viral ad/maybe hoax on our hands. If we were the speculating types, we might posit that this has something to do with Dante's Inferno and a tie-in to a particular ring of Hell – Heresy or Fraud, perhaps? Either way, give the aforementioned trailer a gander after the break and see for yourself exactly why we're so skeptical.

  • Olympus revealing new DSLR(s) on March 5th?

Teaser campaigns are getting so popular these days that even camera manufacturers are hopping on the bandwagon: last year we saw Sigma try to generate some buzz for its Foveon-powered SD14 DSLR, and now Olympus has posted a similar photo with just enough info to get us interested, but not enough to determine anything concrete about the camera(s) being promised. All that we're given in the pic on Olympus' European site are three increasingly faded silhouettes of either a single or multiple DSLRs; besides the hot shoe and the control ring, we can also see a white badge with the date "5 March 2007." As is our wont, we'll obviously be trying to get the scoop on this new cam well before the official announcement, so stay tuned to this channel while we go dredging for deets in the seedy gadget underworld.[Via Digital Photography Blog]
