When robotic lions get together, they form a robot that defends the universe. When the PS3 and Xbox 360 get together, they apparently sometimes kill each other. In the battle for 1UP Editor John Davison's living room, Round 1 goes to the PS3, smacking the 360's red-ringed ass to the curb. The truncated version of Davison's tale of woe goes a little like this: His toddler turns on the PS3 (without Dad's knowledge) while the 360 is on. The two systems share the same confined space, but Davison always opens the shelving when the PS3 is on, for fear that it would go nuclear. It totally does. But instead of shutting down, it blows out so much hot air that it kills the 360. He learned it from watching you, Dad! ... He learned it from watching you.

A new trailer for Super Robot Taisen W, which in all likelihood isn't going to release outside of Japan yet looks totally enjoyable regardless, has hit the internet and we find ourselves loving all of the battle animation. Aside from that, the game has frickin' Voltron in it. Voltron! A staple of our childhood cartoon enjoyment, playing as Voltron is a prospect that cannot be equaled in our mind. The video, as usual, has been embedded past the post break.[Via Siliconera]

When we say huge, we mean gigantic. Yet, for those with speedier internets, these images from what we assume is a shop display somewhere in the vast land of Japan, which depict some promotional materials as well as images from the game itself, will be a nice treat. Some of the pictures are a bit blurry, but for the most part should only compound upon your already incredible desire for this title to form some sort of Voltron-esque super desire able to vanquish ne'er-do-wells and win dance competitions. Final Fantasy III is currently slated for a November release.[Via QJ]

  • Waiting for Wii: And I'll form the head!

The sight of billions of people waiting in line to touch Nintendo's elusive Wii is hardly something unusual at this year's E3, but men with robot heads are considerably less common. I cautiously approached the frightening man-machine hybrid and was relieved to find that underneath the metallic shine and pulsing red eyes was a passionate gamer eager to get his hands on Nintendo's new games. Yanier Gonzalez decided several months ago that, in order to get into E3, he would have to create a distinctive gaming website. The result was Destructoid, a nifty independent blog that has since become a real passion for Yanier. He told me that he was eager to try out The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and would gladly spend hours in line to give "average Joes" a glimpse at what goes on at E3. Kudos to Destructoid, and thanks for letting me borrow your home-made robot head!

  • Crossbeam Studios on Thorn

Crossbeam Studios, who is working on 3 titles for the Revolution, recently gave up some info in regards toward their game Thorn. In striving to combine several different gameplay elements into one Voltronesque experience, the team seeks to assemble space combat, exploration, and swordplay into the ultimate killing machine experience. The studio also strives to create a dynamic progression system in which the player can use information and/or allies to choose in which way they wish to play through the game. The team's goals are valiant, yet until we see something beyond concept art, we're left to speculate. Seeing as how Crossbeam won't be showing anything at this year's E3, I'm wondering whether or not they're even capable of executing these ideas. Only time will tell...
