WoW Moviewatch: The Sisters: Getting Even
The Sisters: Getting Even is the new machinima by WazopVids. The plot seems straightforward. One sister is stuck in a cage by the dastardly Horde. The other sister shows up on the boat, kills a whole bunch of orcs, and successfully stages a rescue. A lot of backstory is implied, but I like the simple version. What's interesting about The Sisters: Getting Even is its impressive animation. Sure, it's a little stiff at times, and the fights don't all seem to flow quite right. But you can clearly see Wazop learning his trade and putting the characters into unique motion. I think of this video as a teaser, and I get very excited about what could be coming next. WoW Moviewatch: Raining Frost -- Stormwind Assault
You need to give this video a little bit of time to get started. The opening is a little slow, in my opinion, but the video picks up pace considerably after a short time. I'm actually kind of excited to meet WazopVids, as I'm looking forward to what he might do in the future. Not much plot rears its head in Raining Frost -- Stormwind Assault, but the video shows a lot of promise in terms of pacing, tension, and graphics. I loved the diver's HUD graphics. While it doesn't feel very WoW-like, admittedly, it was an effective technique for getting some anticipation and action in the plot. After all, otherwise you could simply sum the action up as "undead falls from sky"; in this version, you get "undead falls from sky with a cool HUD." WazopVids is working on the next video already. WoW Moviewatch: Nagrand Arena Showdown
New folks are trying their hands at machinima all the time. A guildmate of WazopVids tipped us off to the Nagrand Arena Showdown. This is Wazop's first machinima, which makes it a particularly impressive achievement. There isn't much plot involved with Nagrand Arena Showdown. Let me summarize for you: A pair of arena teams enter the Nagrand Arena and fight each other. Plot criticisms aside, Wazop produced an amazing-looking video for his machinima debut. It definitely has some influence from anime, but the action was surprisingly entertaining. With a little practice and narrative development, Wazop clearly could do some absolutely amazing works.
