Don't fret, shooter fans. You won't be squinting at small screens or fumbling with poor controls as you try to play Firefall on your phone. No, when we say mobile, we mean a rolling LAN party designed by West Coast Customs. Red 5's Mobile Gaming Unit is a 48-foot-long gaming center on wheels, featuring "an aesthetic design pulled straight out of Firefall's sci-fi world." The MGU is slated to tour America later in 2012, bringing with it top-level e-ports play, and of course, Firefall brand awareness. Anime Expo 2012 will be the site of the MGU's official reveal. If you'll be in the Los Angeles area between June 29th and July 1st, stop by and have a look. [Source: Red 5 press release]

What often gets lost amongst all the flying and painting and partying is that Mario, he's just a regular dude. He's a blue red collar plumber just looking to earn an honest days pay, hangout with his lady and occasionally deliver a racing kart to unsuspecting Tennesseans. When the artist formerly known as Jump Man rang the bell of Nathanial Stehley to drop off his West Coast Customs-built ride, we can only imagine what went through his mind -- probably something about not eating Toad's relatives.Tim: "Honey, there's a plumber on the porch again."Michael: "Wrong castle, buddy. All the 'word-up' posturing in the world won't get me to bring out Princess Peach."Brian: "You called for a plumber?"Jon: "Imma da new mailman. Yeah, M is for mailman."Joe: "So, uh, you brought the mushrooms, right?"Dan: "Yeah, the name's Cooper. King Cooper. You wanna see my girl? You'll have to go through me, pal."Brad: "I'm sorry Mario, but your princess is in another condo."Dante: "What do you mean you were expecting Xzibit?"Terrence: "Hey Pauline, this guy says he knows you."Zach Lutz: "In a desperate attempt to return to the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario swallows his pride and asks for directions."James: "I told you before Mario, Princess doesn't want to see you, you have to stop calling like this."Richard Lai: "Which part of 'stay 100 yards away from her' do you not understand?"Sean Buckley: "I'm a bit short on change, mind if I bang my head on your wall for a little while?"David: "No, I don't have any 'powerups' today, come back tomorrow."Darren: "All I do is win, win, win no matter what."

  • Nintendo and West Coast Customs bring Mario Karts to life

Normally, Mario's Kart is just a bit of virtual video game magic, confined to a world where turtle shells fly and banana peels litter racetracks. But Nintendo has joined forces with auto shop West Coast Customs to produce two real life Mario Karts, currently on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Both Mario's main ride, above, and Luigi's Bumble V kart were made, and both are equipped with front-wheel drive, 18-inch wheels in the back, and a propeller add-on for traveling through water. Unfortunately, that propeller doesn't really work underwater (so says the press release), but the karts really do move. Their construction will be spotlighted in an upcoming episode of West Coast Customs' reality TV show. You can see more shots of the karts over on the company's site (including one of Reggie Fils-Aime himself driving).

  • Visualized: the HP Slate's new job

Wondering where your HP Slate has been all these weeks since you ordered it? Well, at least one of those precious Windows 7 tablets has taken a little detour from its supposedly enterprise-centric destiny to make a cameo appearance... as a dashboard infotainment system. HP, in its inimitable wisdom, has decided to grace the opening of its Vancouver store last month with a customized GMC Yukon Denali truck, which is where we find the company's Slate casually showing off its Acrobat Reader and other big boy OS advantages. We wouldn't really say embedding the Slate into your dash is the worst idea in the world, though the rest of the characterful customizations to this Denali just might be. [Thanks, lmwong]

myFlash = new FlashObject('http://www.gametrailers.com/umremote312.swf', 'swffile', 480, 409, 8); myFlash.altTxt = ''; myFlash.addVariable('mid', 14259); myFlash.write(); For those of you who thought it was blasphemy that West Coast Customs is included in LA Rush, I'm sorry to tell you that the MTV series, Pimp My Ride, that made WCC a household name is getting its own video game. While I don't fully understand the need for a Pimp My Ride video game, obviously somebody thought they could make a lot of money from it. And according to the game's brand manager, Steve Wiliams, "Pimp My Ride the video game only makes sense." Sure Steve, if you say so. And hey, any game that lets you Ride the Whip can't be all that bad, right?

Midway has just released a gameplay trailer for LA Rush, which is due out in November. Featuring "amazing jumps, spectacular stunts," the game allows players to customize their cars by dropping them off at West Coast Customs, race against other players wirelessly and allows you to pull off some crazy jumps in the Stunt Arena. Judging by the video, the game looks like it's a lot of fun. And with West Coast Customs in the game, you're biggest decision could be whether you want a tanning bed or fireplace in your car. [Thanks, Steve]
