Canada's day-long monopoly on North America's "Classic White" PlayStation 3 stockpile is finally over, as Sony has announced the system will also be available in the United States on Sunday, January 27.The "Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle" mirror's Canada's offering by including a year of PlayStation Plus membership and a 500 gig hard drive for a $300 price tag. We're also assuming that "Classic White" means there was, at one point, an "Original White" PlayStation 3 that got replaced by "New White," which was probably wildly unpopular.Conspiracy theorists claim this was all a clever marketing diversion while Sony replaced the PlayStation's cane sugar with high-fructose corn syrup, but those guys are crazy.

  • White PS3 listed for Canada, drops January 27

It looks like Canada is the next country to snag a white version of the (latest) PS3 Slim, according to a listing on Best Buy. This bundle includes one year of PS Plus and the 500GB white model of the PS3 Slim, running $300 and set to hit the warehouse on January 27.So far Japan, Europe and Australia have been graced with the white PS3's presence, but it has yet to officially hit US shores. The Japanese, European and Australian white versions were capped at 320GB, however, so it looks like Sony's coloring team is stepping up its game.[Thanks, Trevor S.]

  • White PS3 coming to Europe and Australia in November

There's nothing a like an (almost) fresh and exciting color variant to make us totally forget about the PS4. Besides, this little dazzler will come with a 320GB HDD and two equally white Dualshock controllers, which means you'll only have to spray-paint your PS3 Move, headset, external drive, wheel and eyebrows to match. Look out for it at GameStop in the UK, Germany and possibly other Euro nations too, as well as at Electronic Boutique in Australia from November 1st -- or just pre-order via the source links below.

  • 'Classic White' DualShock 3 appears at e-tail, dreaming of an alabaster console

While the white PS3 Slim pictured above decidedly belongs to Japan, the "Classic White" DualShock 3 alongside has just appeared for preorder at e-tailers based in the US. Now, we wouldn't go so far as to claim that an ivory 160GB game system will follow this controller across the Pacific, but let's just say we won't be surprised if Sony reveals one anyhow before these preorders (tentatively) ship on October 15th. After all, Sony already sells a "Ceramic White" controller, and unless you're attempting to match colors, a single shade of eggshell paint is generally all you need. [Thanks, William]

[GAME Watch] If you were in the market for a white PS3 Slim, but didn't want one with Lightning all up on it, you're in luck! Sony Japan has just introduced a new "Classic White" system, along with a new white vertical stand and, of course, Classic White DualShock 3 controllers. The new system is outfitted with a 160GB hard drive. The 160GB PS3 will retail for 29,980 ($341). In addition, Sony is selling the "Charcoal Black" PS3 Slim in a 160GB Torne digital recorder bundle, for ¥36,980 ($421), and a version with a luxurious 320GB hard drive (and no Torne) for ¥34,980 ($398). All of these are going on sale -- in Japan only -- on July 29. The current 120GB PS3 Slim is now going "open price," meaning retailers can drop the price at their discretion.

Looks like we've (almost) solved the mystery of PlayStation 3's FCC-bound CECH-2501 models. Sony just announced a "classic white" PS3 Slim (as opposed to the "ceramic white" original) for Japan, model CECH-2500, coming July 29th with 160GB HDD. For 34,980 yen (about $400 translated to US currency) you can now start off with 320GB of storage in your "charcoal black" model -- not to worry, the aforementioned 160GB still retails for 29,980 yen ($342). So, when are we gonna see this elsewhere in the world, hm? Update: Post edited to make clear that the new "classic white" model is only available with a 160GB HDD.

  • Rumor: White PS3s shipped, due out possibly in March

Apparently, Circuit City employee's have been talking about receiving some mysterious shipments of late. These shipments are meant to replace the SpiderMan 3 bundle PS3 and come with the serial number "CECHH01". If you frequent Kotaku, you may recall they deduced this serial number was for the new White PS3. So, when those old bundles sell out or a certain date rolls around, expect the new color to hit shelves at $399. Now you can have two different color PS3's to create a sort of console nirvana in your house. Feng-shui, or something.

The FCC just approved the 40GB Ceramic White PS3 for US consumption. It's apparently the same model announced for Japan back in October. Perfect for the living room laboratory if ever released this side of the Pacific.[Via gi]

  • Unboxing the white 40GB PS3, DualShock 3

We're not exactly sure why these unboxing videos have become all the rage. We all know what's inside them, but for some reason, we just can't get enough of seeing the "clothes" come off of our favorite electronic devices. Take for instance the newest unboxing of a white 40GB PS3 and white DualShock 3, which is set to the Scorpions' amazing "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and easily adds at least 100 points to the Cool 'O Meter. Of course, the white PS3 is only available in Japan and Korea right now, and while there hasn't been an announcement of it making its way to the West, we're sure it's only a matter of time until its arrival.

  • White PS3 heading to Korea as well

It almost seems like Korea is getting everything from Sony that the rest of the world would like as well -- IPTV, dibs on new SKU's, and now they're getting the coveted white PS3 as well. We're not complaining, rather, applauding the luck of Korea in gathering up the coolest of the PS3 gadgetry, though we hope Sony tosses some bones to the rest of the world as well. The system is getting released in Korea on the very same day it gets released in Japan, so there's still hope the rest of the world will get a shot at the white PS3 before the new year. The cost in Korea for the system is 348,000 won -- about $350 US dollars. Nice! Enjoy it, Korea![via Kotaku]

  • Japan gets 40GB, price drop, white PS3

Japan always have it slightly better, right? First the FFVII Crisis Core PSP, then the early DualShock 3 release and now Japan is getting the 40GB and a price drop on the 20GB (they still make those?) and 60GB models. So what's new? Europe is getting the same thing, right? Wrong - Japan is getting a new PS3 colour for the 40GB model as well as matching Dualshock 3 controllers. The new 40GB PS3s and controllers (all in Clear Black and Ceramic White) will be available on November 11th, about a month after the European release, and will sell for 39,980 yen (around 340 dollars or 240 euros). The Dualshock 3s will not be bundled with the console but will be available for 5,500 yen each (about 33 euros or 47 dollars). In addition to this, effective October 17th the 20GB and 60GB models will be dropping price to 44,980 yen (about 384 dollars or 273 euros) and 54,980 yen (about 334 euros or 469 dollars) respectively. They will also be eligible for a free copy of Spider-Man 3 on Blu Ray for the first 200,000 purchasers, as will the 40GB once it is released. With price drops of about 5,000 yen across the board, and the inclusion of a new budget system, Sony really seem to be pushing forward through this holiday season. If you're disappointed about not getting rumble until next year, or you just want a white controller, then don't fret. Most of this year's new games will have rumble out of the box so feel free to import the controllers from Japan.
