The Capcom Digital Collection gathers eight of Capcom's most recent XBLA offerings into a $40 package: 1942: Joint Strike, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 (curiously, not the first game), the two-game Final Fight: Double Impact title, Flock!, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil with "It Came from Uranus" DLC, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3.Downloading each title a la carte will cost $100 total and a good chunk of your HDD space -- but more patient, frugal fans of The House that Hadoukens Built can spin a disc and try these previously download-only XBLA titles on March 27. Across the pond, gamers will have to wait until March 30 before they can put on some pants and head on over to the local shoppe to snag a copy. That is how you guys spell "shoppe" over there, right?

Your stubborn reluctance to purchase any of Capcom's digital releases is about to pay off. The publisher is collecting eight of its XBLA games for a $40 disc dubbed "Capcom Digital Collection," out next spring. It's exclusive to Xbox 360. The set includes 1942: Joint Strike, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 (not 1 ...), the two-game Final Fight: Double Impact, Flock!, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil with "It Came from Uranus" DLC, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3. That's an overwhelming windfall of games to receive at once -- and it would be $100 if you bought it all digitally. If you want more than a couple of these games (and especially if you're light on hard drive space), it's a pretty appealing deal.%Gallery-141794%

Sometimes, we like to think of XBLA in Brief as a public service. We get to tell people about the good games on Xbox Live Arcade like Commando 3, and, perhaps more importantly, warning them about bad games like Frogger 2. We won't go into details here (that's what the video is for, silly!), but suffice it to say that Commando 3 is decent and Frogger 2 ... isn't. Now available on the Xbox Live Arcade comes Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 from Capcom and Frogger 2 from Konami--each priced at 800 MS Points. The token, weekly, omni-directional shooter WotB: Commando 3 drops three selectable characters behind enemy lines tasked with saving prisoners of war and blowing up everything in sight. A reminder to potential buyers, purchasing WotB: Commando 3 also includes future access to the beta test for Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.Frogger 2 adds a much needed story mode to the classic hopping adventure that tackles such hot-button issues as high gas prices, world economy and wart control. At least part of the previous sentence is not accurate. Gallery: Frogger 2 Gallery: Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3

True, buddies over on the Playstation Network already have it, but next week it'll be coming to the better online platform (that's fanboy humor, get it?)Capcom just announced that Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 will be releasing to the Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday, June 11th for 800 Microsoft points. And with three player online or local co-op, fresh 3D visuals and enough "kaboom!" to throw a hand grenade stuffed puppy at, it may be worth your points. Remember too that those who purchase Commando 3 will also be granted access into the (deep breath) Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta which will launch in the days following. A beta that is exclusive to the XBLA. Like we said, the XBLA is the better online platform ... mwahahahaha!

  • Frogger 2 & Commando 3 xbox.com pages appear

While there has yet to be major news of them, both Frogger 2 and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 now have their respective xbox.com pages online. Judging from the screens Frogger 2 doesn't look like its Dreamcast cousin, using sprites, a new kiddy art style, and possibly more puzzles. Commando 3 on the other hand is an arcade shooter with that Incredibles/TF2/BFH art style that seems to be gaining in popularity lately. While Frogger is a bit of a quantity, Commando 3 could be a pleasant surprise if it manages to differentiate itself from the myriad of other arcade shooter currently on XBLA. Release dates are of course unknown, but our best guess would be before the month is out.%Gallery-24324%%Gallery-24325%[Read, Frogger 2][Read, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3]

  • Joystiq hands-on: Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 (XBLA/PSN)

Call it another old-school remake/update; Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 will be out on XBLA and PSN this Spring. The angled, overhead shooter draws on its MERCS origins, bringing three-player destruction to those systems for $10 or 800 Microsoft Points. At a recent demo, I played the 360 version of the game. Controls felt good, with walking assigned to the left stick and shooting to the right. I lobbed grenades and launched super attacks with other buttons; the arsenal held my interest. Vehicles should be a big part of the game, too. In my demo, we drove in an armored truck, shooting from our different seats, and floated down a river raft. Hopefully the full game will feature lots of these breaks, since on-foot battles could grow monotonous.%Gallery-18256%
