WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I remember my first experience with talent points back in vanilla. I'd just hit level 42 or so, and the buddy I was leveling with asked me what tree I'd put my talent points into. Somewhat bewildered, I asked, "What are talent points?" ... turns out all those messages when I dinged weren't just reminders that I was even more talented and awesome than previously before. In Mists of Pandaria, we can look forward to a radically different re-envisioning of the talent trees -- or should I just say talents in general, since we won't have trees anymore? Regardless, here are a few posts from around the blogosphere concerning the upcoming new talents. MMO Melting Pot has an awesome roundup of all the new talents presented at BlizzCon, in handy textual form. The Noisy Rogue likes the look of the new talent system, and fills us in on why it's a good thing. Piercing Shots gives us a brief overview of the new talent system, then dives into some discussion on hunter talents. Fel Concentration has a delightfully in-depth look at the new warlock talents, specifically the affliction tree. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Hallow's End is still ongoing, and there are a lot of new quests and items to pick up! Sadly, BlizzCon 2011 is also taking place at the same time. Don't get me wrong -- Anaheim is an awesome place to be, but it means I miss a few days of farming for that horse. And if I don't see a horse from the Headless Horseman this year, there are going to be repercussions. Serious repercussions.* Today we've got some posts from around the blogsphere discussing the face lift to the Hallow's End holiday. The Harpy's Nest chats about the changes, including the welcome addition of candy as currency. Info about WoW from the Altaholic goes over the ins and outs of the Headless Horseman fight. In keeping with the theme, today we've got some posts from around the blogosphere that are remarkably helpful whether you're a hunter, an officer, or a player heading to BlizzCon. Everyone is still up in arms over the new pet from the Blizzard store -- and arguing over what this means for the future of WoW's economy. Needless to say, today we've got another roundup of posts from around the blogosphere further discussing the situation. Power Word: Gold ponders Blizzard's future intentions for the pet store and whether this is paving the way for more items paid for with real cash. The Ancient Gaming Noob takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the situation and other examples of RMT in gaming. Keen and Graev's Gaming Blog points out that these kitties are not pure RMT at all. Lastly, Marks-365 takes a moment to point out what is bothering me about this whole situation: $10 spent, and I only get the pet on one character? Oh, no no no no no no no. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Has it become too easy to become a big damn hero? I remember the difficulty of the original 1-to-60 grind-- and man, it was a struggle at times. But getting to level 60 meant that you'd finally grown past all those random gathering errands and got to face the challenges of a true hero in Molten Core and other raid dungeons. That's changed a bit since the early days, hasn't it? Today we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere talking about those changes and other changes that we've seen in WoW over the past several years. Flavor Text has a particularly intriguing essay on failure, challenge, and the apparent decline of both in WoW. Priest With a Cause comments on the odd homogenization of the opposing factions in WoW. HoTs & DoTs shares some experiences with the Dungeon Finder through the eyes of someone new to most heroics. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I can't really decide what my favorite thing from the patch 4.3 PTR is. I don't know if it's the fact that I can customize my gear to look pretty cool ... or the new dungeons that are relatively quick, challenging and filled with plenty of worthwhile loot ... or the fact that I've suddenly got 80 slots free in my bank. I can't wait to see what the Dragon Soul raid has to offer, but right now, the next patch is looking really, really good. Today we've got some posts from around the blogosphere regarding the PTR and patch 4.3. Mania's Arcania found a new hunter pet with two unique looks over on the 4.3 PTR. Cynwise's Battlefield Manual has a guide on prepping for patch 4.3 and Season 11 PVP gear. Apple Cider Mage goes over some of the many changes on the PTR servers. The above screenshot was taken some time in early 2005, and it still makes me smile. It also oddly makes me miss the old druid cat form, although the new version is a marked improvement over the old. Anyway, it's Wednesday, which happily means it's that much closer to the weekend, and today we've got some posts from around the blogosphere full of other happy things. Jinxed Thoughts has a laundry list of things she likes about World of Warcraft. Achievements Ahoy offers step-by-step instructions to nabbing talbuk mounts in Nagrand. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoy the blog of one Garrosh Hellscream, although it does contain the occasional crass language. But then we're talking about Garrosh here. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. It's a quest! It's a quest! There's a sign that there's a quest, check in with the closest NPC and watch as you progress! To Hyjal? Or Vash'jir? Why the quest text makes it clear -- an escort or collection, or a task that takes perfection? Zhevra hooves, get some cloth, roam all over Azeroth, for the errands here are never second best! Go on and click that man there, take a chance and gander at the quest, yes the quest, get the quest! I really have no idea why nobody's done a parody of that for reals. Today, we've got a collection of posts from around the blogosphere about what else? Questing! Kurn's Corner considers the definition of a game, quests, and how WoW fits into it all. World of Saz talks about those quests that really get under your skin. HoTs & DoTs ponders efficiency, questing, and whether one ruins the other. Here's your first note -- pulling anything in the bar to your left while fighting Coren Direbrew isn't really recommended. Trust me, your group doesn't need a bar brawl for Brewfest authenticity. For more useful information, check out these posts from around the blogosphere. Pugnacious Priest has a lovely and informative post about hiding battle standards in Battlegrounds. The WoW Debutante has a suggestion for an entertaining guild event based on a television show. Sounds like fun! Maps for Tanks is a relatively new blog, and it's full of ... maps. For tanks! I'm not really sure what's going on in the above video, but I think Tears for Fears may be saying the best way to pick up a librarian is to wait until the library has a monkey, then burst into song. Playing a spontaneously appearing keyboard helps, too. Speaking of tears -- or rather, tiers -- how about those new tier 13 set bonuses that were announced? Do you think your tier set bonuses are pretty cool, or are you wondering if they're actually better than what tier 12 has to offer? Today we've got a collection of posts from around the blogosphere regarding the tier 13 bonuses to various class sets. Cannot Be Tamed takes a look at resto druid tier 13 and the set bonuses. Righteous Defense shares four thoughts regarding the paladin tier 13 set bonuses. Warcraft Hunters Union takes a look at the hunter set bonuses for tier 13. Hey, completely off topic, but here are a few entertaining posts from around the blogosphere that are pretty cool and catchy. The Bossy Pally takes a close look at paladin healing numbers and what it means if yours seem to be a bit low. HoTs & DoTs goes back to Steamvault, something that leads to some interesting thoughts on level design. So there I was, idly surfing around YouTube for some particularly cringe-worthy Nerf commercials from the 1980s when I saw the video above. It didn't take more than a half a second for the theme song to immediately lodge itself in my brain on repeat. I need it out of my brain, so I'm sharing it with all of you -- you can thank me later. Now where were we? Oh that's right, Nerf -- or rather the recent nerfing of Firelands content. The blogosphere is buzzing about the topic, and I've found a few posts to share with you about it. Restokin shares a few thoughts on the 4.2 raid nerfs, looking at both sides of the extreme and everyone in between, too. Marks-365 goes over some of the biggest boss changes with the Firelands nerfs. Bubblespec looks at the changes from a raider's perspective and comes back feeling a little deflated. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I know, I know, Blizzard just dropped a bombshell on us with all the patch 4.3 information, and we're all still trying to process everything. So for now, let's take a step back and look at the slightly less important but incredibly entertaining aspect of Monday: Pirate's Day! Yes, Pirate's Day, where we get to don pirate costumes and join in on the pirate party (not to be confused with the pirate patty) in Booty Bay. Today we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere celebrating the wonders of Pirate's Day, including a guide to dressing like a pirate every day of the year. Red Cow Rise shares a little history about the holiday behind Pirate's Day. Kamalia Et Alia has pretty much the most ultimate guide to pirate gear I have ever seen. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Why yes, Beatles, it is my birthday -- thank you for clarifying that. And since it is my birthday, I picked out a few random posts from around the blogosphere with no real common theme. I just thought they were pretty cool. It's like my birthday present to me, for you -- or something along those lines. Anyway, enjoy a few randoms about this and that! Elfi's World has also had a birthday recently (happy birthday, Elfi, from another September kid!) and decided to see what Blizzard's done in the way of historical happenings in September. There is a lot of neat old news that I remember. Orcish Army Knife knows the way to my heart -- rampant speculation. This time, he's speculating on what that rumored legendary dagger is all about. As a rogue, I totally approve. Forever a Noob has forever endeared themselves to me by suggesting perhaps we ought to do away with that whole maximum melee range nonsense. OK, well, maybe they weren't serious, but I love them anyway. Postcards From Azeroth always makes me happy. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Patch 4.2 was released on June 28 -- not a long time ago, all things considered. This makes the announcement of incoming Firelands nerfs a little puzzling. Obviously, Blizzard would like everyone to enjoy the raid content, but I can help but wonder if it's a little soon for nerfs. As a raider, it really doesn't feel like my guild's been wandering around in the Firelands all that long. On the other hand, I'm looking at it from the standpoint of the ICC buff -- it's just a boost to players to help get us through all that content. Still, I'm not quite sure how to feel about it. The blogosphere's been abuzz with the news of the difficulty changes, so why don't we take a look at a few posts and see what everyone else has been saying? I Like Bubbles would like to extend a formal welcome to the Nerf Bat Overlords. Divine Plea is also welcoming the decrease in difficulty with open arms. Kurn's Corner, on the other hand, has a heck of lot to say against the changes. (Warning, some language in said post.) Falling Leaves and Wings ponders the nature of difficulty and challenge. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Back in my day, Drek'Thar was an Orc to be feared. Nowadays, he's not quite as spry as he used to be, but he's just as intimidating. Things were pretty different back then -- none of these fancy heirlooms all you kids are running around with. And dailies? Ha! When you finished all the quests, that was it. No dailies to be found anywhere! And none of that fancy flying, either. Today, we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere chatting about days gone by and things new and old. Jinxed Thoughts reviews all those old Darkmoon Cards from years ago to see if they're still good today. Psynister's Notebook points out the potential new heirlooms being added in patch 4.3. Priest With A Cause forgoes the Molten Front in favor of Netherwings. Nils' Blog takes a good long look at the progression of daily quests, from The Burning Crusade to today. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I have to admit it: Pinocchio was never one of my favorite Disney films. When I was a kid, the scene where all the children turned into donkeys completely freaked me out. As I grew older, it grew less disturbing -- but I still wondered what the heck the point of it all was. Then again, I was trying to make sense out of a movie that featured a puppet taking advice from a cricket. ... no wonder that never quite worked. Today we've got some guides and advice from around the blogosphere, and I'm relatively certain none of them were written by crickets (or any other insects, for that matter). Healbot.net offers some advice and strategies for those looking to heal through Majordomo Staghelm on 10-man mode. Red Cow Rise provides some background and a really good guide to the Harvest Festival. HoTs & DoTs goes over the ins and outs of transmogrification and what exactly you need in order to complete a look. Wowhead News has a really good guide to the books of Azeroth -- whether you need them for achievements, or just for you know, reading up on things.
