Is it time to remove all transmog restrictions?
I think an experience along these lines is pretty common for WoW transmog enthusiasts: "Fantastic, I finally got the Talon of the Phoenix! I'm gonna transmog it to... wait. I'm using an axe for raiding." Or maybe this one: "Yes! This is an amazing upgrade! ...Oh I can't transmog a two-handed weapon into a main and off-hand, so I have to redo my outfit." I use weapons as examples because they often have the most limited transmog options, despite the fact that Blizzard did lift a lot of their restrictions in patch 5.2. Polearms and staves can be transmogged into each other. One-handed maces, axes, and swords can be transmogged into each other. Two-handed maces, axes, and swords can be transmogged into each other. But two-handed axes, swords, and maces cannot be transmogged into staves or polearms. Fist weapons cannot be transmogged into one-handed swords, axes, or maces. In one view, the limitations make sense. As a druid, I can use staves, polearms, and two-handed maces. I cannot use two-handed axes or swords. If there were no restrictions, I could transmog my healing staff into a sword and be a resto druid with a sword. That seems odd to me. Then again, I can be a resto druid with a staff transmogged to a polearm, but I cannot be a resto druid with a staff transmogged into a two-handed mace, even though I can equip both those weapons.
Blogger brings Azerothian fashion trends to the real world
One of our pals from Massively.com, Jeremy Stratton, pointed us in the direction of the tumblr Azerothian Appearance. While there are countless tumblrs, blogs, and other fansites compiling in-game outfits for transmogrification, this one has turned its gaze toward looking good in the real world. Using the web fashion tool Polyvore, Azerothian Appearance sets out to recreate World of Warcraft's in-game clothing trends in the real world. Don't expect to find a set of rogue tier 9 in the real world, but there are certainly themes, styles, and colors that can be used as inspiration for a more Earthly, less fantastical outfit. Some of Azerothian Appearance's attempts are better than others. Tyrande (seen above), the aforementioned rogue tier 9, and an outfit based on the aesthetics of Crystalsong Forest all look great, but the Stormrider's Regalia ... perhaps not so great. Go show Azerothian Appearance some love, and come up with some of your own WoW-inspired outfits! I would, but I have the fashion sense of a dog with mange.
WoW fashion blogger tells why transmogrification's hot for every player

Yeah, she runs a pretty mean blog and forum for enthusiasts of unusual and unique WoW outfits -- but I ended up pinging her because I kept getting notes about what a helpful, welcoming resource she and her site are to other players. I can only wish my high school chemistry teacher (yep, that's Kirina's calling during offline hours) had been so sympathetic. With the ability to change the outward appearance of our gear right around the corner for all of us image-conscious players, I knew Kirina would have some pointed comments about the advent of transmogrification. Will transmogging be as significant to the mainstream player base as it is to fashion fans like Kirina? She thinks it will be, and she tells us why after the break.
