    04.18.2014

A new round of updates have been released for the alpha client of Warlords of Draenor. Included in the patch notes are new sections covering changes and adjustments with Itemization, Movement Speed, Raid Utility Balance, Reforging, and Combat Resurrection. There have also been updates to existing sections as well - many class sections have received a lot of updates and adjustments, as expected for such an early build. Haste % and Crit % bonuses have been streamlined -- no more spell/melee/ranged, it's a universal Haste and Crit % bonus for all. Druids, rejoice -- Ravage no longer requires you to be behind the target. Many glyphs have been removed, and a lot of new glyphs have been added, with some glyphs now being exclusive to a specialization. Movement speed enchants now increase Movement Speed by 10% -- up from 8%. Hunters, there has been a comprehensive sweep over pet abilities -- it's a major list! Paladins, there have been some major tweaks to both Holy and Protection specs. For the full list of updates, check out the official Battle.net site for all the details. New updates are denoted in red for easy reading.

All characters now learn a few important Major Glyphs as they level up. Garrisons, garrisons, garrisons! Read on for the full list of patch notes after the break.

  • Patch 5.2 official patch notes

    03.05.2013

Patch 5.2 is here, and we've got the official patch notes for you to enjoy. Some of the major highlights from this major content patch include: New Daily Quest Hub: Isle of Thunder Wrathion is determined to know the origin and source of Mogu power, and Azeroth's mightiest heroes will aid the Black Prince in finding out what it is. The search for information will take players into the depths of the Thunder King's Palace, and pit them against trials of perseverance and skill. Along the way, they'll unlock the secrets to a new legendary metagem, the Crown of the Heavens. Players that have grown attached to working the land at Sunsong Ranch can now acquire the farm from Farmer Yoon via a quest. The farmhouse becomes a rest point like an Inn, where the player can bind and instantly log out. Work orders will pour into the farm from factions across Pandaria, and completing a work order will earn a reputation boost with the issuing faction. Throne of Thunder raid bosses in Normal and Heroic difficulties have a chance of dropping items with the Thunderforged designation. Thunderforged items are 6 item levels higher than their Normal or Heroic counterparts and will drop more frequently in 25-player raids. To encourage Raid Finder groups to persevere, each time an Raid Finder group wipes on a boss fight all players in the group receives a stacking buff that increases health, damage dealt, and healing done by 5% (up to a maximum of 10 stacks). This buff is cleared once the boss has been killed. Satchels obtained via the Raid Finder now have a chance to contain additional rewards, including: consumables, Spirits of Harmony, rare pets or mounts, and Raid Finder versions of Normal and Heroic difficulty zone drops that were previously unavailable from Raid Finder encounters! Warlocks can now undertake a solo adventure that culminates with the ability to change the color of their Fire spells to appear Fel green. The quest begins for those Warlocks determined or fortunate enough to have laid their hands on the fabled Codex of Xerrath. Players in low-level Battlegrounds will have their effective level raised to the maximum level allowed in that Battleground bracket. Players' base stats and spells are scaled accordingly, and are treated as the same level when determining hits, misses, and critical effect chance. The full patch notes after the break.

  • Patch 5.2 PTR: Patch notes update for Feb 25

    02.26.2013

As we draw closer to the release of patch 5.2, changes continue to be made. Another round of patch notes have just hit the 5.2 PTR. This time around, the list of changes to classes and quests is relatively small. However, there are a ton of updates for professions of all kinds -- and one interesting change to AoE spells and abilities. The area damage cap is now 20 targets instead of 10. Players that have a high fishing skill now have a chance to fish up new pets! The Pet Journal has clues on where these new pets can be found. Happy hunting -- er, fishing! New raid and PvP patterns have been added for tailors. Tailors can find these new patters with the daily Imperial Silk cooldown. Players can now participate in Pet Battle duels while in the Throne of Thunder, just in case you'd rather take a break from certain troll doom and instead focus on fluffy critters. You can see the full list of patch notes at the official site, but if you'd just like a list of the new changes, follow after the break for a consolidated list.

    02.20.2013

Blizzard has posted another updated set of patch notes for the 5.2 PTR. This time around, the list of updates is relatively small, but there are still plenty of interesting tidbits to be found. Included are class changes for a few different classes, as well as some updates and additions to the list of features that will be available in patch 5.2. Satchels obtained via the Raid Finder now have a chance to contain additional fun items. This includes Raid Finder versions of Normal and Heroic difficulty zone drops that were previously unobtainable from LFR difficulty. Players of the same faction will get shared credit for Pandaria world bosses -- this includes Sha of Anger and Galleon, as well as the new world bosses in 5.2. Buying the farm has officially been changed to reflect that you will be taking over the farm rather than purchasing it. Players must be exalted with the Tillers and have unlocked all 16 farm plots before this option will be made available. You can see the full list of patch notes at the official site, but we've made life a little easier and just compiled a list of all of the changes after the break.

  • Patch 5.2 PTR: Patch notes update for Jan. 30

    01.30.2013

Blizzard just posted an updated set of patch notes for the 5.2 PTR. Included in the latest round of updates are the continuation of Wrathion's legendary quest chain, some class changes, a whole mess of Pet Battle changes, and a few interesting tweaks to LFR that might just make that issue of players dropping groups a little less likely to occur. To encourage LFR groups to stick around, each time a Raid Finder group wipes on a boss fight, all players will get a stacking buff that increases health, damage, and healing done by 5%. This stacks up to 10 times. Lorewalker Cho has two new tales to tell -- Dagger in the Dark, and A Little Patience. As of 5.2, both factions will be able to complete both scenarios. No more faction limit! Characters that have attained titles from the Rated Battleground system (Centurion, Knight-Champion, High Warlord, Grand Marshal, etc) will now be able to purchase old PvP items requiring those titles. You can see the full list of patch notes at the official site, but we've made life a little easier and just compiled a list of all of the changes after the break.

  • Patch 5.2 PTR: Patch notes update for Jan. 16

    01.17.2013

Blizzard updated the official 5.2 patch notes a few hours ago. Some of the updates are consolidated changes from the last few PTR builds, but many of them are new. You can see the full update at the official WoW community site, but we've compiled all the changes. Check out some of the highlights below. The continuation of the Wrathion questline will unlock a new legendary metagem, Crown of the Heavens. Three new spectral porcupine spirit beasts have appeared across Pandaria as tameable beasts. There is now an option to show absorb effects (such as Power Word: Shield) on player, target, party and raid frames. This feature is currently enabled if you turn on the predictive healing option. Unlike predictive healing, absorb effects will display for enemy targets. The Reputation panel on the character screen will now let players know which reputations they have purchased and used Grand Commendations for.

    12.22.2012

A preview of the notes for the patch 5.2 PTR has just been released on the official blog. While the PTR may not be open until January, Blizzard certainly isn't wasting any time with getting the information out there and readily available to players. The trend of speedy patches in Mists of Pandaria seems to be continuing as hoped, which should make players very happy, and far less apt to run out of content to do. Highlights from the patch include: The new raid, Throne of Thunder, which includes 12 new raid encounters and an additional 13th foe unlocked upon defeating Emperor Lei Shen in Heroic mode. New daily quest hub: The Isle of the Thunder King -- the Kirin-Tor Offensive and the Sunreaver Onslaught face off to lay claim to Emperor Lei Shen's island stronghold and the treasures contained therein. Two new world bosses, Nalak the Storm Lord and Oondasta An option to purchase Sunsong Ranch to make it a resting point like an inn. Work orders will come in from various factions, and completing the work orders will grant you reputation with the issuing faction. All world bosses are now Tap to Faction. This new system offers every eligible player of the same faction that engages a boss the chance to earn loot. Read on for the full list of patch notes for Patch 5.2.

    10.11.2012

Well that didn't take long... the patch notes for the patch 5.1 PTR have been released today. There is no information as to when the patch will release. Some highlights from the patch notes: The conflict between the Horde and the Alliance has ignited a new series of daily quests along the shore of the Krasarang Wilds. Players can visit their faction strongholds in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms to begin the quest to summon their war fleets to the continent of Pandaria. (Please note: The Alliance version of this quest is not yet complete, but will still unlock the new missions and features). Two new Reputations have been added: Alliance players can earn reputation with Operation: Shieldwall, while Horde players will curry favor with the Dominance Offensive. Players can slay rival NPCs and opposing faction players along the shore to earn commissions that can be spent to upgrade their faction's base. Look for strategic objectives to capture, including graveyards and towers. Commissions can be spent to recruit guards that will help protect this captured territory! A new item has been introduced that can be used to upgrade the quality of Battle Pets: Battle-stones. Underground fighting rings have sprung up in Stormwind and Orgrimmar that will give brawlers a chance to earn bragging rights by testing their solo PvE mettle against some of the toughest creatures found in World of Warcraft. 08.28.2012

The release patch notes of patch 5.0.4, the pre-Mists of Pandaria content patch, are now available. They aren't all that different from the PTR version of the patch notes we saw at the end of July, but patch day simply isn't patch day without poring over patch notes. These notes are surprisingly short, we find. Rather than laying out every single class change in detail, Blizzard has glossed over them with simple, general statements that stuff has changed. If you'd like to see the patch notes for yourself, you can find them below.

    11.17.2009

The patch notes for the patch 3.3 PTR have been updated. This latest iteration of the patch notes gives, in particular, warlocks and rogues some of the love that they've been waiting for (although I'm sure it won't be enough for some/most). Some highlights: Deadly Poison: In addition to its existing effects, when a rogue applies Deadly Poison to a target which has already reached the maximum number of applications, this will also trigger the poison which the rogue is using on his or her other weapon. Improved Poisons: Bonus chance to trigger Deadly Poison from this talent increased. Improved Drain Soul: This talent now reduces threat by 10%/20%, up from 5%/10%. Destructive Reach: This talent now reduces threat by 10%/20%, up from 5%/10%. There are also a new slew of bug fixes. All the updates after the break.

  • Patch 3.3 PTR: Patch notes updated

    11.11.2009

Horray! Another update to the patch 3.3 PTR patch notes. This one is nice and small. Usually, when the note updates become smaller and smaller, it's a good indication that the patch is getting closer to being done. But, we also haven't seen any itemization of this patch yet -- so there is obviously still a bit of work to do. However even then, items don't exactly change very much in the PTR, they are mostly set via formulas devised well ahead of time. So we'll see... nice to see things shaping up though. All the updates to the patch notes are as follows: Druids: Gift of the Earthmother: Redesigned. This talent now increases spell haste by 2/4/6/8/10% and reduces the base global cooldown of Lifebloom by 2/4/6/8/10% instead of its previous effects. (This was just reworded, nothing changed, according to Blizzard.) Paladins: Sanctified Light (changed reverted based on update to Lay on Hands) Murder: This talent now provides a flat damage increase of 2/4% against all targets, instead of only targets which do not appear in Icecrown. Victory Rush: This ability is now trainable at level 6. (This was just corrected, nothing new.) Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.

    10.01.2009

Blizzard has just released the patch notes for the Patch 3.3 PTR. As with all PTR patch notes, please be aware that they are the early stages of the finalized patch notes, and not everything may yet be in them. These notes are particularly shorter than what most would expect, however there are still some juicy goodies. The PTR is not up yet. You'll hear it here when it is. These notes come a day after the information and pictures of Icecrown were released. Some of the highlights from the patch notes released thus far: The Forge of Souls, the first wing of the 5-player dungeon, is currently available for testing. Additional Icecrown Citadel dungeon and raid content will be made available in future test builds Misdirection: Redesigned. Instead of having finite charges, it now begins a 4-second timer when the hunter using Misdirection performs a threat-generating attack, during which all threat generated by the hunter goes to the friendly target. In addition, multiple hunters can now misdirect threat to the same friendly target simultaneously. Rogue Vanish: For the first second after this ability is used, neither Vanish nor Stealth can be broken by taking damage or being the victim of a hostile spell or ability. Shaman Fire Nova Totem: This totem has been replaced with a new spell, Fire Nova, which is available at the same ranks as the old Fire Nova Totem. Existing characters will automatically learn this new spell in place of the totem. With a Fire Totem active, shamans will be able to use Fire Nova (fire magic) to emit the same area-of-effect damage as the old Fire Nova Totem from the active Fire Totem, not consuming the totem in the process. Fire Nova will activate a 1.5-second global cooldown when used and has a 10-second spell cooldown. The caster must be within 30 yards of the totem to use this ability, but does not need to be within line of sight of the totem. Black Magic: This enchantment now sometimes increases haste rating for the caster rather than inflicting the caster's target with a damage-over-time effect. It is also now triggered by landing any harmful spell rather than inflicting damage with a spell. Entire patch notes after the break. This post is currently being edited.
