Update: Blizzard has changed the maintenance times and confirmed patch 4.3 for tomorrow. Realm maintenance this week is an eight-hour stint beginning at 1:00 a.m. Pacific and ending at 9:00 a.m. Pacific for all U.S. realms. This maintenance includes the game as well as many of the web services; we may be looking at a little forum downtime with the game downtime tomorrow morning. While there's been no official announcement, the eight-hour window may indicate that we're looking at the release for patch 4.3 tomorrow, which would set us up nicely for the new Darkmoon Island event the following week. If you've been patiently (or not so patiently, like me) waiting for void storage, transmogrification, new instances, new raids and more, you may not have much longer to wait. Neekliam We will be performing scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, November 29th. Maintenance will begin at 1:00 AM PST and conclude at approximately 9:00 AM PST. During this time, all realms and many web services will be unavailable. Thank you for your patience. source Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

  • Extended realm maintenance for Tuesday, October 12th; Patch 4.0.1 likely

I shook my Imp in a Ball and asked if the pre-Cataclysm patch 4.0.1 would be dropping on Tuesday and he said, "Yes, but if anyone asks ... It wasn't me who told you." Then Blizzard representative Rishgur announced on the forums that we would be having extended maintenance from midnight until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Coincidence? I think not. It's so blatant that even Kaylee Switchgear, our maintenance graphic gnome, thinks we're having a patch. Could some random bug crop up between now and then to crush the hopes and dreams of those of us preparing for a 4.0.1 Tuesday? Sure, but that could happen with just about any patch. What we do know is that realms will be down for 12 hours and Cataclysm is only a month and a half away. Be sure to tune into WoW Insider during the downtime to brush up on your 4.0.1 patch information and all of the class-revamping, reforging, prime-glyphing, guild-member-capping, Azeroth-shattering information. Rishgur We will be performing extended maintenance on Tuesday, October 12th. Maintenance will begin at 12:00 AM PDT and conclude at approximately 12:00 PM PDT. During this time, all realms and many web services will be unavailable. Thank you for your patience. source

  • 24 hour maintenance for select servers on Tuesday

Blizzard has released the next list of servers that will be unplayable for 24 hours. Starting at midnight PDT (3 a.m. EDT) tonight and ending around midnight PDT tomorrow, a large number of realms will be down for extended maintenance. Included on that list is Zangarmarsh, the home server for WoW.com's guild <It came from the Blog>, which means we'll be hosting our downtime party elsewhere. I'm thinking a Refugee Party (RP) on Shadow Council may be in order. Stay tuned for details coming later today. Click on the link for details. The full list of realms is after the break.

People are anxiously awaiting the servers to come back up today, fresh with all their patch 3.3.3 goodness. However as luck (tradition) would have it, the servers are not back up yet. This shouldn't really shock anyone, but so many people get angry over it we had to whip out the baby. While you're waiting for the servers to come up, make sure you know everything you need about patch 3.3.3: Patch 3.3.3 Guide Patch Notes (Live) "Super Kewl" Celestial Steed Really, all you need to know about this patch is that somewhere out there, now or in a later patch, you can get a Celestial Steed. We'll update this post as we know more about the extended-extended downtime. Only the latest update will be displayed on the front of the post, all older updates will be behind the cut. Update 4:00 p.m. EDT: Servers are mostly up now, there are some reported issues, but nothing from Blizzard. Enjoy patch 3.3.3!

There will be realm maintenance this Tuesday from 3:00 a.m. PDT / 6:00 a.m. EDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT / 2:00 p.m. EDT. The maintenance should not be any indication that patch 3.3.3 is going to drop, as it just went on the PTR -- so don't expect anything. The full blue announcement is as follows: Ralvorinn We will be performing scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, February 23. Maintenance will begin at 03:00 AM PST and conclude at approximately 11:00 AM PST. During this time, all realms and many web services will be unavailable. Thank you for your patience. source If the maintenance becomes extended, you'll hear it here. Oh wait, is that some new fancy blue quoting CSS stuff on WoW.com? Why yes, yes it is.

Blizzard will be performing maintenance on the following realms beginning on Saturday, February 20, at 2:00AM PST/5:00AM EST until approximately 5:00AM PST/8:00AM EST. While the purpose of the maintenance isn't explained, the list of realms is pretty small, and the affected realms should only be down for about 30 minutes each. See below for a full list of affected realms:

Just when you thought it was safe: The following realms will be undergoing emergency maintenance today from 2:00 a.m. PST / 5:00 a.m. EST until 7:00 a.m. PST / 10 a.m. EST. This maintenance is to resolve performance issues on a large number of realms. If there are any issues that extend this emergency maintenance period, we'll update this post. Once again, we've got realms coming down and undergoing emergency maintenance on Friday, February 12th from 5:00 a.m. PST / 8:00 a.m. EST until 7:00 a.m. PST / 10am EST. This maintenance is to resolve performance issues - hopefully this will address some of the lag issues players have been reporting since the extended maintenance on Tuesday. Please note, all realms will be undergoing this maintenance EXCEPT those realms listed below. Coincidentally, the realms listed below are the same ones that underwent maintenance this morning. If there are any issues that extend this emergency maintenance period, we'll update this post. Updated 2:01am PST: The maintenance has been canceled, and they are no longer bringing any realms offline. See below for the full list of excepted realms.

The following realms will be undergoing emergency maintenance today from 5:00 a.m. PST / 8:00 a.m. EST until 11:00 a.m. PST / 2pm EST. Please note that there seems to be some inconsistency in the wording of this post -- the title lists this maintenance as rolling restarts, while the post itself clearly indicates players are going to see some downtime. This maintenance is to resolve a database issue, but a large number of realms appear to be affected. Hopefully this will address some of the lag issues players have been reporting since the extended maintenance on Tuesday -- if there are any issues that extend this emergency maintenance period, we'll update this post. See below for a full list of realms undergoing maintenance.

The following realms will be undergoing maintenance tomorrow from 5:00 a.m. PST / 8:00 a.m. EST until 9:00 a.m. PST / Noon EST. There is no indication given as to why the maintenance is occurring, but there have been widespread reports of lag and instance problems tonight. Common lag bugs like looting taking several seconds to complete or mobs rapidly changing places have been reported on quite a few realms. If this outage turns into something more, we'll update this post. The realms affected by the maintenance include: Antonidas Cairne Drak'Tharon Drenden Farstriders Garrosh Hydraxis Mok'Nathal Moon Guard Nazgrel Nordrassil Quel'dorei Rivendare Shandris Tortheldrin

There will be realm maintenance for all US realms this Tuesday, January 19th, from 3:00 a.m. PST / 6:00 a.m. EST until 11:00 a.m. PST / 2:00 p.m. EST. We have been hearing for awhile now about a mini patch that's going to bring some small yet noticeable changes to the game, and there's no indication this downtime will bring that mini patch -- although we don't know officially one way or another. There have been a few stability issues reported this past week, so we're sure that many folks will be looking forward to having the maintenance hopefully fix these things up. We'll let you know if we hear the maintenance is going to be extended -- but other than that, enjoy the downtime. I hear the Star Trek Online beta is a good way to pass the downtime.

  • Brief launcher update

Blizzard updated the launcher again today without warning and hopefully without incident -- unlike Monday, when everything went awry, errors abounded and people were unable to connect. There is no indication that patch 3.3 is anywhere near downloading or anything other than a small tools patch. There has also been no word from Blizzard yet on exactly what this patch does, but it is required if you want to log into the game. The patch is very small and only takes a handful of seconds to download and apply. We'll keep an eye on this issue for any problems, but as of this writing, all is well.

There will be a round of realm maintenance for everyone tomorrow, Tuesday November 10th from 5:00 a.m. PST / 8:00 a.m. EST until 11:00 a.m. PST / 2:00 p.m. EST. This is more or less the "normal" maintenance time we've all come to know and love. The downtime tomorrow should not be taken as any indication that patch 3.3 is dropping; that event is still a couple weeks away at best. The patch tonight was a "tools patch," that while temporarely screwed things up for the majority of people, wasn't anything that changed things significantly -- at least as far as we all can tell. If anything else develops of this downtime, we'll be sure to let you know.

Blizzard has announced that they are conducting urgent maintenance on several realms. Though the official Warcraft twitter account announced it would only go on until noon PST (the tweet was about account maintenance), the in-game and forum messages state that they do not know how long the maintenance will take. They expect to have more information by 12:30 p.m. PST / 3:30 p.m. EST. The list of affected realms is after the break (which includes Zangarmarsh, the It came from the Blog server). We will keep you informed as the status changes. 3:25 p.m. PST: All realms are (supposedly) online and playable. Update 3 p.m. PST: More info at 3:30 PST. Update: More info at 1:30 p.m. PST.

So. Big news guys: The Three Worgen Moon Shirt is here. Seriously. The Shirt that will change your life, I kid you not. I ordered mine, and I have already sensed the presence of beautiful women gravitating toward the aura of self-assurance and wildness created around me by the very decision made to purchase the shirt.Nah, but seriously. There's been stuff going on this weekend. Mostly, Patch 3.3's been going on, and we've had crack teams poring over the data files and running through the dungeons getting all the latest for you. For example, here's some video footage of some of the team running The Pit of Saron. Also, you're going to need to convert your account to Battle.net pretty soon now. There's much more to peruse of course, so let's get to it. Here's a list of some of our best news and features from the past few days.

  • Stability issues, rolling restarts for tomorrow

    09.22.2009

We've been getting a steady stream of tips and tweets in about the stability issues plaguing nearly every server tonight, and Blizzard has finally confirmed that something isn't working right. Most people are experiencing extreme lag both in instances and out in regular zones. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it all, just constant server-side lag that impairs things like looting, completing quests, using items, buy items, or trading things to other players. Pretty much every wonderful thing that could have lag to it does; including the lovely 30 second mount cast.Hopefully the rolling restarts that will be taking place tomorrow morning at 5:00 a.m. PDT / 8:00 a.m. EDT will fix this. Although I'm hopeful that there would be some quick resets tonight to apply a hotfix or whatever else Blizzard needs to do in-order to make the game more playable. We'll update this post with any additional information if we get it

A large batch of realms will be offline until at least 12:30 p.m. PDT. That list is after the break. If your realm is offline, I suggest reading up on everything in WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2.2. • Maintenance for Tuesday September 8th

    09.07.2009

We've had some serious maintenance in the last few weeks, and it looks like they've come to an end. The extended maintenance that's been going on has been to fix the much hyped "Additional instances cannot be launched" error, and by all accounts the bug has been fixed. But let's not kid ourselves, there'll be at least a dozen comments claiming differently after this post goes up. But it's all good, because eventually the cross-server instances are going to take care of that problem entirely. The maintenance tomorrow will run from 3:00 a.m. PDT / 6:00 a.m. EDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT / 2:00 p.m. EDT.Since WoW will be down, I recommend checking out Champions Online if you haven't already. It's a nice comic book MMO that has some real potential. One thing I really enjoy about it is that its graphics are not super amazing -- they look like comic book graphics. In that sense, it's a very immersive graphical experience. Kyle Horner of our sister site Massively wrote the WoW player's Guide to Champions Online. Check it out for more information about a nice game you can play during WoW's downtime.

    08.06.2009

According to the in-game announcement, there will be two hours of maintenance tomorrow August 6th on all realms. The maintenance announcement has changed throughout the evening, but seems to have settled on this downtime. The downtime will happen from 5:00 a.m. PDT / 8:00 a.m. EDT and last until 7:00 a.m. PDT / 10:00 a.m. EDT. This of course assumes that there'll be no extended super-fracken-duper maintenance put on top of that. And we know just how much Blizzard loves to increase their maintenance periods. If there is you'll hear it here. While the maintenance is going on, you can check out WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2 and read up on all the things you missed, or think you missed. There is also the beginnings of a list of bug fixes; a list that's sure to grow over the coming days.

    08.03.2009

There's a detailed server maintenance announcement for tomorrow, Tuesday August 4th. And off the bat: we still don't know for sure if Patch 3.2 is dropping tomorrow. You can bet that we'll be burning the midnight oil waiting to find out, though. (Note, that would be inadvisable. If you attempt to ignite a petroleum product on this ship at zero hundred hours you will activate the fire suppression system, which would seal off this entire compartment.)All realms will be down from at least 3:00 a.m. PDT / 6:00 a.m. EDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT / 2:00 p.m. EDT tomorrow. However a large group of special realms will be down from 12:00 a.m. PDT / 3:00 a.m. EDT until 12:00 p.m. PDT / 3:00 p.m. EDT.Those special realms are those in the battlegroups Emberstorm, and Whirlwind.Check after the break if you need to see a listing of which realms belong on those battlegroups, and stay tuned to WoW.com tonight and tomorrow for all the patch 3.2 goodness.Minor update: The service alert, which is obviously suffering from a typo, now reads in part: "..we expect all realms to be playable by approximately 11:59PM PDT on Tuesday, August 4." Emphasis added. Hey, at least they're honest, right?Update: Blizzard changed their announcement to indicate that only Emberstorm and Whirlwind would be going offline for an extended period.
