  • Spotted at Computex: LG's X Note Z350 Ultrabook (video)

Part of the fun of covering tradeshows is that Yanks like yours truly get to handle products that might never make their way stateside. We're going to put LG's 13.3-inch X Note Z350 Ultrabook in that category, since the company doesn't exactly have a strong market presence in the US -- at least not where PCs are concerned. The Z350 is one of many Ultrabooks on display at Intel's booth here at Computex, though it's one of the few we hadn't seen before. Though the press shots we showed you earlier this week make it seem as if this thing is made of aluminum, it's plastic with faux-brushed-metal detailing. The touchpad has the same texture as the palm rest and is so flush that it's nearly invisible from a few feet away. The keyboard is typical Ultrabook fare: shallow, but usable. Ultimately, what impressed us most was the port selection: Ethernet, HDMI and not one, not two, but three USB 3.0 ports. Not bad for an Ultra, eh? If you're curious, we've got close-up shots below, and a walk-through video after the break.%Gallery-157277%

  • LG launches 13.3-inch X Note Z350 / 14-inch Z450 laptop with third-gen Intel Core power, WiDi and an SSD

Evidently, "Ultrabook" isn't a "thing" in South Korea. Or, at least not in the translated press release we've just gotten our mitts on. LG is getting the weekend started right with a proper successor to the Z330, and the X Note Z350 is absolutely a looker. It's a 13.3-incher that does its best to appear just like every other Ultrabook currently on the market, boasting a typical silver motif with black chiclet keys and a glossy LCD. A smattering of palm rest stickers work to further mar things, but the third-gen Intel Core i5 / i7 within makes up for most of that. We aren't told what kind of GPU is under the hood (we're putting our bucks on Kepler, for the record), but there's room for an SSD and a built-in Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) module to beam out 1080p content sans cabling. Pricing, battery life and most other particulars are being kept under wraps for now, but we'll be keeping an ear to the ground for more. Update: Looks like a 14-inch Z450 is also on tap, but outside of the diagonal screen space, mum's the word on specifications.

  • LG Xnote P210 claims 'world's thinnest bezel' title, our undying appreciation

If there's one thing we appreciate more than pixel density, it's slim bezels. LG, a traditional enemy of unsightly frames, is today staking its claim for having the world's thinnest bezel on a laptop with the new Xnote P210. This 12.5-inch machine is said to fit within the footprint of an 11.6-incher, but before you start throwing insults like "netbook" around the place, do take note it has a dual-core Core i5-470UM processor inside -- capable of running between 1.33GHz and 1.86GHz -- 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB HDD. The LED-backlit display's resolution isn't specified beyond a note saying it's "HD," while Windows 7 Home Premium is the predictable OS of choice. Look for the P210 to hit Korea in February for around 1.3 million won (about $1,135), but don't hold your breath on it coming Stateside for anything other than a flying trade show visit.

Looking for a strategy to promote a 15-inch slab of drab plastic laptop? If you're LG then you slap in some 3D gimmickry and roll on the scantily clad product waif. LG's Xnote A510 comes packing a Full HD LED backlit 15.6-inch panel powered by your choice of a Core i7 840QM or 740QM quad core processors and 1GB of NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M graphics. It ships with polarized 3D glasses including clip-on 3D lenses for your existing specs. Don't worry if you can't find 3D content to view because LG's preloaded the A510 with TriDef 2D to 3D conversion software. You'll also find an HDMI 1.4 jack, Blu-ray optical disc drive, and fingerprint reader when this guy ships to Asia, South America, and the Middle East and Africa sometime in October.

  • LG's X300 ad strikes an amazingly familar tone

LG's X300 laptop may have largely avoided comparisons to a certain other thin-and-light when it was announced at CES earlier this month, but it looks like LG is intent on driving that point home regardless. As you can see for yourself in the promo video after the break, not only has LG carried on the oft-imitated manila envelope motif, but it tops things off with a just slightly off "la la la" refrain for good measure. All of which might have earned LG a few points for boldness if this were a parody ad released a few years ago but, sadly, this is 2010, and this ad is all too real. [Thanks, Muller]

Looks like Dell isn't the only one who knows how to produce an ultrathin laptop, as LG's latest concoction has just landed at the always-revealed database of the FCC. The XNote LGX30 (not to be confused with the Ion-based X30) is an 11.6-inch netbook with a 1,366 x 768 resolution panel, solid state drive, integrated webcam, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a multicard reader, GMA500 graphics set and a 3-cell battery. The machine weighs just 1.74 pounds and is based on some sort of Atom CPU, and as expected, it's Windows 7 running the show. We're hoping to hear a lot more about this thing when CES rolls around, but till then, feel free to peruse the user guide down there in the source link. It's a riveting read, we tell ya.

12 hours. That, according to LG, is the new benchmark by which all wannabe long-lasting laptops will have to measure up. Of course, we've seen similar aftermarket solutions before, but it's good to see a manufacturer stick a flag in the ground -- and a big rump on the back -- in the race for the highest endurance netbook. And boy is the X130 a netbook: 1024 x 600 resolution, 10-inch screen and the predictable Atom N270 et al. Koreans can grab one now for 789,000 Won ($639), with almost worldwide availability to follow shortly. Check out our review of the X120 for a flavor of LG's history in the market, while we go look for actual benchmarks undermining that legendary battery life claim. [Via Trusted Reviews]

When your netbook is too bulky to fit in the back pocket then sometimes, not always, but sometimes you just have to bring the back-pocket to the netbook. Meet LG's Levi special edition of its Xnote Mini X120. It's exactly like the regular X120 running XP and Splashtop-powered "Smart On" OS only now with Levi graphics and an obligatory denim laptop sleeve just as you'd expect. More pics after the break because sometimes a man needs more than a monkey.

We felt a bit out of place when waltzing into LG's very business like booth, and while we were absolutely devoid of suit and tie, we weren't unappreciative of all the beauty seen here on the Xnote P510. First spotted just under a month ago, this here lappie is an immediate eye-catcher in person. The entire palm rest of made of a rubberized material (trackpad included), and there's even a vibration function to provide noticeable feedback in the pad if you're into that sort of thing. The build was sturdy, the keys were delightful to touch and the flush trackpad was simply luscious. In case you couldn't tell, we were nearly booted from the booth from drooling all over the demo unit. We still couldn't pry out a price, but we overheard one of those aforementioned suits bragging to his buddy that he'd have one "next month." LG has made plenty of attempts to make its Xnote line stand out from the pack in the past, and it looks like its new P510 model is no exception, with it boasting a textured exterior, a rubber keyboard, and apparently even a bit of haptic feedback on the power button and some other controls. LG doesn't seem to be skimping when it comes to specs either, which include an LED-backlit, 15.4-inch 1,440 x 900 display, NVIDIA's new GeForce GT130M graphics, 2GB or 4GB of RAM, and your choice of three suitably high-end Core 2 Duo processors, not to mention both a 64GB SSD drive and 500GB hard drive on the top-end P510-UP98K model. No word on pricing or a release date just yet, but you can get a closer look at it by checking out the video after the break.[Via SlashGear]

LG may not have strayed to far from the outward appearance of the XNOTE P300 with its new P310 model, but it looks to have given the "premium" laptop a decent enough upgrade under the hood, with it now finally getting bumped up to the Centrino 2 platform. That upgrade also includes a speedier 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo T9400 processor, 3GB of DDR3 memory, 2GB of Intel Turbo Memory a 320GB hard drive, and some decent enough NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics, not to mention the same LED-backlit 13.3-inch display as before. No word on a price just yet, but we're guessing it won't be too far off the €1,599 (or just over $2,000) its predecessor demanded.[Via Hallyu Tech]

No telling if we North Americans will ever see this thing without the help of a dutiful importer, but if nothing else, it's fun to gawk at. Shown off in Korea at KES 2008, LG's 12.1-inch S-210 was said to be packing a 2.43GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM, eSATA / USB ports, VGA out, Ethernet, an NVIDIA graphics set, audio in / out, HDMI and Windows Vista. Pricing and release information wasn't even available for folks in Seoul, but we'll try extra hard not to forget about this completely forgettable machine amidst all the other metoos in the crowd.

LG can be forgiven for receiving a little help in getting its first netbook, the X110, out the door. However, the company doesn't seem to be really trying to distinguish itself from the herd with its second one either, the 10-inch Xnote Mini. It features the same basic setup as the rest, including an Atom processor, 160GB hard drive, 1.3 megapixel camera, and 3-cell battery all contained in a svelte 2.6 pound enclosure. No word on price or availability outside of Korea, where it's been released, but if you're looking for a lightweight 10-incher we think you can already do better without breaking the bank. As expected, South Koreans got their hands around LG's stylish P300 a good while back, and while Americans just knew it was headed stateside in short order, it looks like Europe has received the nod for second dibs. The LED-backlit 13.3-incher reportedly packs an Intel T8300 processor (yeah, that's Penryn), 3GB of DDR2 RAM, an NVIDIA graphics set, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, dual-layer DVD writer and a couple of USB 2.0 ports to boot. For those already head over heels for the design, you can lay down €1,599 ($2,350) right now to claim your own -- just don't rub it in too much, okay?[Thanks, Aido] %Gallery-16683%

LG's dressing up the gear-waifs to roll out product again in South Korea. Up on the block is this, their new XNOTE P300-series of 13.3-inch LED backlit 1,280 x 800 laptops. The top-end, ???2,600,000 (about $2,810) model touts a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 processor, 2GB of memory, 256MB of NVIDIA Geforce 8600M graphics, 250GB of disk, super multi-drive disc, 1.3 megapixel camera, integrated WWAN, and HDMI out. Although we'd appreciate a few more pixels on that screen, an easy on the shoulder 1.6-kg (3.5-pounds) weight is sounding might fine.

LG just kicked out the Z1 prototype as the production-quality, dual-LCD XNOTE R200. That 2.5-inch touch-sensitive, Windows SideShow LCD makes for quick access to email, photos, music, "mini-games" and plenty of Vista gadgets without having to boot the OS or even flip open the lappie. The laptop itself starts with a basic (R200-EP76K) configuration of a 12.1-inch LCD, 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of memory, 128MB of ATI HD 2400 graphics, 802.11a/g/draft-n, and 160GB of disk for as estimated ???2,240,000. That's about $2,440 should it ever arrive Stateside. Anyone else feeling a bit let down by the dearth of SideShow devices after all the fuss made by the industry at CES in January?

The E200-series sports a 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of memory, 1.3 megapixel webcam, super multi-drive DVD, and HDMI-out standard while being one of the first batch of laptops to pack a 120GB hybrid hard disk (HHD) with 256MB of flash. LG's Xnote lineup essentially has all of its bases covered with regard to sizes, as it includes laptops ranging from ultraportable to ultra-ginormous -- the latter of which was recently showcased at SEK 2007. This 19-inch behemoth likely required photos to be taken from several steps back, but aside from its awkwardly large footprint, it sports a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM, NVIDIA's 256MB GeForce 8600M GS graphics set, a 320GB hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner, 802.11a/b/g, audio in / out, a number of USB ports, and a built-in flash card reader for good measure. LG looks set to loose a new 19-inch XNOTE upon Korea. You do get a dedicated keypad, however. Uh, hoozah!? We're sure it'll pop from the barn with some higher-end options though come July.
