Yarr! Hmm, not really. YARRRRRRR! That's a little better. Ahoy, mateys. Talk Like a Pirate Day may be over, but that isn't stopping me from navigating the rough waters of Flying Lab Software's Pirates of the Burning Sea for this week's issue of Community Detective. The game's a fair bit of fun, and since it recently joined the F2P bandwagon that all the cool kids are jumping on these days, it's likely to become more popular in the near future. As such, much like I did with Turbine's Lord of the Rings Online, I wanted to get a look at the game's community and customer service apparatus both before and after the payment model switcheroo. So how are the social aspects of the SOE-published title shaping up? Well, the customer service is pretty spot on. The community? Well, I'll be kind (for now) and simply say that it leaves a little something to be desired. Sail past the cut to learn more.

Talk Like a Pirate Day is coming on the 19th, and Turbine is getting into the spirit of things with pirate-themed sales in both Dungeons and Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online. LotRO fans can stock up on pirate eyepatches, hats, and outfits, all brand-new items in the store. DDO players might find themselves on an unexpected shopping spree. Anything that could possibly be considered a pirate-themed item is 30% off beginning tomorrow. Two adventure packs, pirate grog, headgear, pirate weapons, and much more are all marked down, so you'll certainly want to browse through and see what you want to stock up on. LotRO players can find the item list in the forum, while DDO players can find their list on the DDO Store page.

After a brief hiccup earlier this morning, pirate-themed MMO Pirates of the Burning Sea hoisted its sails and left port for the wide open sea where, SOE hopes, it will be greeted by thousands upon thousands of patiently waiting pirates who've got treasure aplenty to spend in their virtual Caribbean. If you're a lowly stowaway aboard this latest MMO, you'd be wise to stop off at the port of Massively wherein you'll find plenty of features to orient yourself. If you're an old hand, been playing since this morning, let us know what you think in those there comments. %Gallery-8176%
