The latest victim of their reckless deconstructive tendencies is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/hp-unveils-z1-all-in-one-workstation/">HP's Z1</a>. The all-in-one turns out to be just as beautiful on the inside as it is outside. The components aren't haphazardly tossed inside the tight enclosure or soldered in place. The impressively repairable and replaceable parts all slide out easily, with at most the turn of a few screws. Only the LCD and glass pane posed an obstacle, but even that turned out to be relatively simple to remove. For more photos of the tiny <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/17/hp-ships-27-inch-z1-all-in-one-workstation-pricing/">workstation</a> torn asunder, check out the source link.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/26/ifixit-tears-open-an-hp-z1-finds-it-impossibly-easy-to-repair/">iFixit tears open an HP Z1, finds it impossibly easy to repair</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 26 Apr 2012 18:05:00 EST. Designed to handle stresses normally thrown exclusively at floor-sitting wind tunnels, the Z1 offers up Intel Core i3 or Xeon server-class CPUs, NVIDIA Quadro graphics, USB 3.0 sockets, a slot-loading Blu-ray writer, SSD / RAID options, support for over a billion colors and a seductive starting tag of just $1,899. If you fancy yourself a power user, HP's got a "world's first" trick up its sleeve that might lure you in. Earlier today, the Palo Alto outfit took the wraps off its newest <a href="http://engadget.search.aol.com/search?q=all-in-one&amp;invocationType=wl-gadget">all-in-one</a>, the HP Z1. This workstation is a mere distant cousin to HP's consumer-focused <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/07/hp-announces-an-avalanche-of-all-in-ones-slimmed-down-touchsmar/">Omni and TouchSmart</a> lines -- not that that's a bad thing. The machine comes sporting a 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, IPS display, the back of which snaps open for easy access when making hardware tweaks and, if you wisely choose to take the premium road, you could be walking out with a quad-core Intel Xeon CPU and NVIDIA Quadro graphics, as well as your choice of a 160GB or 300GB SSD for storage. Needless to say, it all depends on how much dough you're willing to part with. HP says the Z1 is expected to ship around April, with the lowest-end model starting at $1,899. It'll be a while before you can get your hands on one, but in the meantime you can keep yourself entertained by checking out those glossy press shots below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/">HP Z1 press shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819842"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1four_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819843"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1one_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819844"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1six_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1three_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-z1/#4819846"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/imggallery-z1two_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/hp-unveils-z1-all-in-one-workstation/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HP unveils Z1 all-in-one workstation: 27-inch IPS display, starts at $1,899</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/hp-unveils-z1-all-in-one-workstation/">HP unveils Z1 all-in-one workstation: 27-inch IPS display, starts at $1,899</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 14 Feb 2012 16:16:00 EST. That lines up with virtually everything we've been hearing lately, and it's also fortuitous timing considering that both <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CES/">CES</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MWC/">MWC</a> are right around the corner; we don't know what Sony Ericsson might have on tap for CES, but we definitely know they're <a href="http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/12/23/sony-ericsson-teases-new-xperia-unveils-for-february-13th-at-mwc/">planning some new Xperia-branded models for MWC</a>. There are many questions left unanswered -- how (and if) any of this ties into the standalone PSP2, how gaming titles will be purchased, and how many models will be available that support the platform, just to name a few -- but hopefully Sony can clear all that up here within the next few weeks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/28/japanese-paper-pegs-playstation-phone-for-spring-launch/">Japanese paper pegs PlayStation Phone for spring launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 28 Dec 2010 12:19:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/PlayStationphone|PSPhone">PlayStation phone</a> keeps popping up time and again, and still no one at Sony is going to flat-out admit anything -- but that hasn't stopped <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/28/sonys-peter-dille-thinks-the-psp-could-use-a-cellular-data-conn/">playful speculation</a>. Even SCE chief Kaz Hirai is joining in the fun. "We don't want gamers to be asking, what's the difference between that [a PS phone] and a PSP... we have to come up with a message that users will understand," he told <em>The New York Times</em>. "It would have to be a product that keeps the PlayStation's strengths intact." So that's the issue, then, differentiating a new PSP and a variant with phone capabilities -- nothing a good marketing campaign can't fix, if you ask us.<br />
<br />
But enough about the phone, what of the PlayStation's portable brand in general? Hirai seems to fancy touch controls, actually. "Depending on the game, there are ones where you can play perfectly well with a touch panel," he said, adding that "immersive games" -- the ones he think are Sony's focus, vs. the more casual fare offered by Apple and Android -- do well with physical buttons, and that some games work well with the two. We can't help but notice he said touch <em>pane</em><em>l </em>and not touch <em>screen</em>, which reminds us of the touchpad we saw on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/26/the-playstation-phone/">PS phone leaks</a>, but we wouldn't want to harp too much.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/22/sonys-kaz-hirai-talks-up-virtues-of-touch-controls-weighs-in-o/">Sony's Kaz Hirai talks up virtues of touch controls, weighs in on PlayStation phone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Dec 2010 22:07:00 EST. We can't get enough of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/playstationphone|psphone">Sony Ericsson's PlayStation Phone</a> (also known as Zeus Z1), and we're guessing neither can you. We were just sent a new video of the device in action, only now it's running Qualcomm's Neocore benchmark app. As you can see, the device managed 24.4 frames per second on average. That doesn't seem like much -- our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NexusS/">Nexus S</a>, for example, just pulled off 55.6fps -- but bear in mind, this isn't the final software (or hardware probably), so there's no conclusions at all to draw from this benchmark right now. Just think of it as another nice view of the phone as we inch closer to a finish line we still can't make out over the horizon. At this point, does it really surprise anyone that a new phone is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/22/nexus-s-still-leaking-on-public-photostreams-showing-exciting-n/">leaking by way of a photo sharing site</a>? We totally understand the conundrum: when you're logged into a phone that you're testing and you're taking pictures, it's <em>so easy</em> to upload 'em. And hey, you need to test the sharing functionality at some point anyway, right? At any rate, we love it, so we're not going to complain that a few photos with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/03/playstation-phone-zeus-z1-caught-on-video-again-this-time-you/">Sony Ericsson Zeus</a> clearly called out in the EXIF data have started showing up on Picasa. The four appropriately-labeled pictures all clock in at 5 megapixels, so we hope you weren't expecting an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/N8/">N8</a>-beating resolution here... but then again, when you're heads-down in PlayStation-branded games for hours on end, do you really have time to be taking decent pictures anyway?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/03/sony-ericssons-zeus-z1-playstation-phone-contributes-sample-sho/">Sony Ericsson's Zeus Z1 PlayStation phone contributes sample shots to Picasa</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Dec 2010 21:16:00 EST. Wow guys, we just spotted a new video of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/PlayStationPhone/">PlayStation Phone</a>, codenamed Zeus Z1, and this time we get a long, loving look at the entire device -- a refreshing contrast to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/01/playstation-phone-espied-in-greece-said-to-have-gingerbread-and/">last time's blurry tease</a>. In addition to appreciating just how fat this phone is, and just how <em>real</em> it is, you can clearly see a "PlayStation" icon, which should hopefully put to rest any doubts that this phone will actually play PlayStation games. Check out a close-up of the icon after the break. Oh, and by the way, there's no audio on the video, your computer is not broken.<br />
<br />
[Thanks, Sha]<br />

It's quite fitting for a device that's purportedly codenamed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/10/sony-ericssons-anzu-x12-to-be-xperia-gingerbread-flagship/">Zeus</a> to make its first video appearance somewhere in the wilds of Greece. What we have here is the apparent full motion debut of Sony Ericsson's big crossover device, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/26/the-playstation-phone/">the PlayStation Phone</a>, one half portable gaming console, one half Android smartphone. Unfortunately, we never see it flexing out its slider to reveal that delicious <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/the-playstation-phone/#3511130">control pad</a>, but judging from its curves and little design details, it does indeed look to be the real deal. <em>Techblog.gr</em> reports that it's dubbed the Sony Ericsson Z1 and comes with Gingerbread on board -- something that meshes well with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/29/the-playstation-phone-new-photos-more-details/">earlier indications</a> that some Zeus devices in the wild are already running Android 2.3 (and above) -- while the screen is a 4-inch panel that apparently offers great touchscreen responsiveness. See the mythical creature for yourself after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/01/playstation-phone-espied-in-greece-said-to-have-gingerbread-and/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PlayStation Phone espied in Greece, said to have Gingerbread and 4-inch screen (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/01/playstation-phone-espied-in-greece-said-to-have-gingerbread-and/">PlayStation Phone espied in Greece, said to have Gingerbread and 4-inch screen (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 01 Dec 2010 06:07:00 EST. Though Toshiba's flagship <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/toshiba-introduces-zx900-series-55-inch-and-65-inch-cell-tvs-for/">ZX900 Cell TV</a> has yet to make its feature-packed US debut, the company is already planning fancy new toys for the motherland. This week, Toshiba announced a full <em>fifteen</em> new LCD HDTVs destined to spice up the sweltering Japanese summer -- each of them ready to pull double duty as DVR -- and <em>Nikkei Electronics </em>reports that the company's 3D-converting sets will debut around the same time. Meanwhile, Google Translate tells us a bit about the rest. While the low-end REGZA HE1 series have only a built-in 500GB hard drive and LED-backlit LCDs (as if that weren't enough), the RE1 can send footage to up to four external hard drives over USB in a system that gives each family member their own dedicated hard drive. But the Z1 series takes the cake -- it's got fleshed out DVR functionality that lets users record two programs at once (while watching a third) and jack into a LAN switch with eight drives for a veritable <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/network+attached+storage/">NAS</a> of up to 4TB. It's little things like this that make us wish we lived in Japan.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/16/toshibas-new-regza-record-over-lan-convert-2d-to-3d-quite-soon/">Toshiba's new REGZA record over LAN, convert 2D to 3D quite soon in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 16 Apr 2010 01:57:00 EST. The plasma may be a dying breed, but the ones that are left are undoubtedly some of the best the world has ever seen. Take <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Panasonic/">Panasonic</a>'s 54-inch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/26/panasonic-z1-wireless-hdtv-appearing-in-us-retailers/">TC-P54Z1</a> for example, which wowed audiences (us included) when it was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-officially-premieres-z1-wireless-hdtv/">first unveiled</a> way back at CES. The <em>HD Guru</em> recently had an opportunity to take this very screen into his abode for review, and after a labor-intensive (around "one hour") setup process, the gazing was officially on. Panny's engineers were able to slim the set down to an inch by requiring that a dedicated (wireless) set-top-box be used for tuning OTA channels and managing connections, and the result was nothing less than elegant. If you're wondering what north of five large really buys in an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HDTV/">HDTV</a> these days, wonder no more -- the set was deemed darn near perfect, with "outstanding" color, contrast and deep black levels. Potentially best of all, there were no motion artifacts to speak of, and anyone with a 120Hz / 240Hz set can testify to just how annoying those things are. Hit the read link for a detailed unboxing, setup and review, but don't even bother if you're looking for someone to talk you out of what you're about to do.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/22/panasonics-1-inch-thick-z1-plasma-reviewed-playing-with-perfec/">Panasonic's 1-inch thick Z1 plasma reviewed: playing with perfection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 22 Oct 2009 09:56:00 EST. Hit the read link for a detailed unboxing, setup and review, but don't even bother if you're looking for someone to talk you out of what you're about to do.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/22/panasonics-1-inch-thick-z1-plasma-reviewed-playing-with-perfec/">Panasonic's 1-inch thick Z1 plasma reviewed: playing with perfection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 22 Oct 2009 09:56:00 EST. Sharp's PC-Z1 NetWalker conjured up all sorts of love and hate-filled emotions when we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/03/sharp-pc-z1-netwalker-hands-on-ubuntu-like-youve-never-seen-it/">toyed with it</a> earlier this month, but for fans of unorthodox handhelds, minor details like a wonky optical pad and frail keys aren't apt to put a damper on the excitement found in this moment. The cool kids over at <em>Pocketables</em> were able to procure a unit over the weekend from Japan (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/27/sharps-5-inch-pc-z1-netwalker-honors-the-zaurus-legacy/">right on cue</a>, might we add), and predictably, they've broken out the camera in order to let you relive the unboxing experience and see it side-by-side with a UMID <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/18/umid-mbook-m1-spotted-in-black-keyboard-and-all/">mbook M1</a>. The read link folks, that's where it's at.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/29/sharps-pc-z1-netwalker-takes-the-inevitable-unboxing-journey/">Sharp's PC-Z1 NetWalker takes the inevitable unboxing journey</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 29 Sep 2009 21:24:00 EST. Fanboys have been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/08/ubuntu-gets-ported-to-sharp-zaurus-pdas/">running Ubuntu</a> on Sharp's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/16/sharp-halts-zaurus-pda-production-smartphones-to-blame/">deceased Zaurus</a> lineup of PDAs for years. Now Sharp makes it official with the launch of this 5-inch, 1024 x600 TFT LCD touchscreen NetWalker smartbook, aka the PC-Z1. It's not a Zaurus per se, but the compact 161.4 x 108.7 x 19.7 ~ 24.8mm / 409g device certainly resurrects its ghost. Underpinning the device is an 800MHz Freescale <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/05/freescales-i-mx515-netbook-processor-promises-low-cost-long-ba/">i.MX515</a> CPU built around the ARM Cortex-A8 architecture, 512MB of memory, 4GB of on-board flash storage (with microSDHC expansion for another 16GB), 802.11b/g WiFi, 2x USB, and QWERTY keyboard going 68 percent of full-size. Sorry, no 3G data. The PC-Z1 features a 3-second quick launch, non-removable 10-hour battery, and is purposely positioned by Sharp as a taint -- it ain't quite a smartphone and 't ain't quite a laptop. Good luck with that Sharp. The device is expected to hit Japan on September 25th for &yen;44,800. That's about $479 whenever it might come Stateside. <br /><br />It's worth noting that the current US ban on the import of BGA-packaged products like Freescale's i.MX processors should not affect the import of the PC-Z1 as <em>Akihabara News</em> contends. As we understand it, that ban affects the import of the chips, not the systems using them and assembled elsewhere. Otherwise, Amazon wouldn't be selling its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/08/freescale-netbook-and-android-powered-smartbook-debut/">Kindle</a>, dig?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_details.php?id=18763">Akihabara News</a> and <a href="http://japanese.engadget.com/2009/08/27/5-netwalker-arm-ubuntu-3-10/">Engadget Japanese</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.sharp.co.jp/netwalker/images/catalog.pdf">Read</a> [warning: Japanese PDF]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/27/sharps-5-inch-pc-z1-netwalker-honors-the-zaurus-legacy/">Sharp's 5-inch PC-Z1 NetWalker honors Zaurus legacy with touchscreen Ubuntu</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 03:51:00 EST. Panasonic has cleared a path for its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/wihd">WirelessHD</a> equipped HDTV to launch in the UK now that Ofcom has opened up the necessary radio spectrum for use by all manufacturers. As it stood, manufacturers needed to get permission to use any part of the wireless spectrum, but now anyone should be able to use the 57-66GHz range. Expect the 54-inch version of Panasonic's wireless set to run around &pound;5,000 when it becomes available in a few weeks, with other wireless TVs from LG and other coming later in the year.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://stuff.tv/News/Wireless-TVs-to-go-on-sale-this-month/12768/">Stuff</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/plasma/" rel="tag">Plasma</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/15/panasonic-pries-open-room-for-wirelesshd-availability-in-the-uk/">Panasonic pries open room for WirelessHD availability in the UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 15:29:00 EST. Finally, something wireless high definition related that's not <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/16/belkins-1-500-flywire-delayed-again-now-slated-for-august-lau/">delayed</a>. Now that it's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/11/panasonic-2009-viera-hdtvs-official-pricing-revealed/">official and priced</a>, Panasonic seems much happier to show off its wireless HD-sporting, ultra-thin <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/z1">Z1 series</a>, and it's quite the sight to behold. The 54Z1 we got to look at was very strikingly clad in brushed metal gray -- compared to the regular black of most of Panasonic's TV lineup -- and of course incredibly thin. The wireless HD receiver box was across the room and working flawlessly, and it was nice to see that the included remote is an RF unit, capable of non-line-of-sight channel changing -- it's starting to feel like the 21st century around here! The plasma picture was of course very good, and we're really feeling those Viera Tools icons across the bottom. $6,000 though? That's your call.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/panasonics-ultra-thin-54z1-plasma-in-the-wild/">Panasonic's ultra-thin 54Z1 plasma in the wild</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/panasonics-ultra-thin-54z1-plasma-in-the-wild/#1428107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/panasonic-54z1001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/panasonics-ultra-thin-54z1-plasma-in-the-wild/#1428114"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/panasonic-54z1002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/panasonics-ultra-thin-54z1-plasma-in-the-wild/#1428097"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/panasonic-54z1003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/panasonics-ultra-thin-54z1-plasma-in-the-wild/#1428113"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/panasonic-54z1004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/panasonics-ultra-thin-54z1-plasma-in-the-wild/#1428112"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/panasonic-54z1005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/plasma/" rel="tag">Plasma</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/12/panasonics-ultra-thin-54z1-plasma-in-the-wild/">Panasonic's ultra-thin 54Z1 plasma in the wild</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 12 Mar 2009 18:12:00 EST. Just in case the HDGuru didn't carry enough credibility for you, Panasonic has finally issued a press release with prices and shipping months for most of its <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-expands-viera-hdtv-lineup-at-ces-2009/">2009 VIERA brand lineup</a>. We've taken a peek, and everything appears to <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/03/05/panasonics-ultrathin-tc-p54z1-viera-plasma-priced-at-5-999-95/">line up with the leaked figures</a>, including that slim wireless HD equipped Z1 and its $5,999 pricetag, while only copping to a summer ship date. The rest of the lineup proceeds downward in pricing and features from there, the wall-busting details are but a mere click of the read link away.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/11/panasonic-2009-viera-hdtvs-official-pricing-revealed/">Panasonic 2009 VIERA HDTVs official pricing revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 11 Mar 2009 19:11:00 EST. Yeah, we know -- six large for a 54-inch HDTV seems a bit much in today's society, but the same sort of thing was said last September when Mitsubishi threw a <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/09/06/mitsubishis-65-inch-laservue-priced-at-cedia-6-999/">$6,999 sticker</a> on its mesmerizing LaserVue set. Panasonic's one-inch thick <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/z1/">TC-P54Z1 plasma</a>, which just might be the <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/03/04/engadget-hd-podcast-125-03-04-2009/">last of its breed</a> barring production of the <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/NeoPDP/">NeoPDP</a> concept, will undoubtedly serve a shrinking niche, but for those willing to pay for the best of what's new, they'll be getting an awful lot of sexy for $5,999.95. Speaking of that MSRP, that's the good word from the HD Guru himself, though we've yet to see an official confirmation from Panny. Yeah, we know -- six large for a 54-inch HDTV seems a bit much in today's society, but the same sort of thing was said last September when Mitsubishi threw a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/06/mitsubishis-65-inch-laservue-priced-at-cedia-6-999/">$6,999 sticker</a> on its mesmerizing LaserVue set. Panasonic's one-inch thick <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/z1/">TC-P54Z1 plasma</a>, which just might be the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/04/engadget-hd-podcast-125-03-04-2009/">last of its breed</a> barring production of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NeoPDP/">NeoPDP</a> concept, will undoubtedly serve a shrinking niche, but for those willing to pay for the best of what's new, they'll be getting an awful lot of sexy for $5,999.95. Speaking of that MSRP, that's the good word from the HD Guru himself, though we've yet to see an official confirmation from Panny. Honestly though, that's about what we reckoned it would list at after seeing it <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/panasonic-introduces-wireless-1-inch-thick-tc-p54z1-viera-plasm/">unveiled at CES</a>, so now would probably be a good time to start hunting for any 10 percent off coupons for your favorite B&amp;M HDTV outlet.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10189086-1.html">CNET</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/plasma/" rel="tag">Plasma</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/05/panasonics-ultrathin-tc-p54z1-viera-plasma-priced-at-5-999-95/">Panasonic's ultrathin TC-P54Z1 VIERA plasma priced at $5,999.95</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 11:41:00 EST. Panasonic announced a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-expands-viera-hdtv-lineup-at-ces-2009/">slew of Viera TVs at CES</a>, and although we already knew when they'd be making their <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/03/panasonics-ces-2009-viera-hdtv-lineup-priced-and-dated-for-j/">Japanese debut</a>, US info has been hard to come by. That's starting to change: pricing details are leaking out, and CNET and HDGuru have managed to assemble a pretty exhaustive list of what to expect and how much it'll cost. Of interest, Panny's still going strong on the plasma tip, so those of you aching for the best picture possible but unwilling to shell out for the dead-ended Kuro will still have plenty of options -- there's a set at every point between the 42-inch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-officially-outs-the-ipod-lovin-viera-x1-hdtv/">720p X1</a> at $899, the 50-inch 1080p S1 with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-talks-up-ultrathin-neolcd-neopdp-displays/">nicer NEO-PDP pane</a>l for $1,799, the 50-inch THX-certified G10 with VieraCast for $1,999 and the as-yet-unpriced, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-officially-premieres-z1-wireless-hdtv/">one-inch thick wireless 54-inch Z1</a>. As for LCDs, it's a similar story at smaller sizes: you've got sets ranging from the budget $499 720p 32-inch C12 to the $1,099 120Hz 1080p 37-inch G1 with Motion Focus and a 20,000:1 contrast ratio. Check all the info at the read links; we'll be scouring the wire praying for news that Panny's bought up the Kuro tech from Pioneer.<br /><br /><a href="http://hdguru.com/2009-hdtvs-are-shipping-now-buy-a-closeout-or-wait-for-the-new-model-panasonic/392/">Read</a> - HDGuru<br /><a href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10186550-1.html?part=rss&amp;tag=feed&amp;subj=Crave">Read</a> - CNET<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/plasma/" rel="tag">Plasma</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/panasonics-ces-2009-viera-hdtvs-get-us-pricing-and-dates/">Panasonic's CES 2009 Viera HDTVs get US pricing and dates</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 18:02:00 EST. Not willing to let its Blu-ray decks have all the fun, Panasonic's seen fit to announce that the European editions of its upcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-expands-viera-hdtv-lineup-at-ces-2009/">Z1, V10 and G15</a> line of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/viera/">VIERA</a> plasma displays will all be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/divx">DivX </a>compatible. We assume this functionality will be present on this side of the Atlantic as well, so these flat panels are ready to access video via DLNA or SD/SDHC card. Frankly, these days we're happy just to hear plasmas are <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/26/does-the-death-of-kuro-signal-the-end-of-the-plasma/">still in production</a>, and expect the added functionality won't hurt a bit.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/plasma/" rel="tag">Plasma</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/02/panasonic-newest-plasmas-include-divx/">Panasonic's newest plasmas include DivX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 02 Mar 2009 07:26:00 EST. Interested in obtaining Panasonic's 1-inch thick first-with-<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/wireless-hd-hands-on-and-recklessly-interfering/">WirelessHD</a> <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-officially-premieres-z1-wireless-hdtv/">Z1 series</a> 1080p plasma -- before this summer? Hope you've got a good connect in Japan, because this baby is touching down April 20, complete with YouTube and 2.4GHz remote. Thanks to the slim 40,000:1 contrast ratio NeoPDP panel and ability to work without the usual assortment of cables it was born for stylish wall mounting in your appropriately adorned apartment as pictured above. Interested in obtaining Panasonic's 1-inch thick first-with-<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/wireless-hd-hands-on-and-recklessly-interfering/">WirelessHD</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-officially-premieres-z1-wireless-hdtv/">Z1 series</a> 1080p plasma -- before this summer? Hope you've got a good connect in Japan, because this baby is touching down April 20, complete with YouTube and 2.4GHz remote. Thanks to the slim 40,000:1 contrast ratio NeoPDP panel and ability to work without the usual assortment of cables it was born for stylish wall mounting in your appropriately adorned apartment as pictured above. We may be years out from a commercially available <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/hands-on-with-panasonics-0-33-inch-thick-neo-pdp-eco-plasma/">0.33-inch thick NeoPDP</a> screen, but we aren't far from seeing a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/panasonic-introduces-wireless-1-inch-thick-tc-p54z1-viera-plasm/">1-inch think NeoPDP</a>. We caught wind of this puppy at Panny's presser, but now we've got the official verbiage to back it up. The flagship 1080p plasma incorporates <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SiBEAM/">SiBEAM</a>'s WirelessHD technology, VIERA Cast support and a 54-inch panel. Other specs for the TC-P54Z1 include a 40,000:1 contrast ratio, a THX certification label and a 600Hz sub-field drive. We're pretty bummed that Panasonic hasn't disclosed the price and release date, but did you really expect anything different? Got to keep the hype building, right?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/panasonic-officially-premieres-z1-wireless-hdtv/">Panasonic officially premieres Z1 wireless HDTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 10:52:00 EST. Here at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/panasonic/">Panasonic</a> press conference at CES 2009, the company finally woke us up with a stunningly thin 1-inch thick plasma: the all new Z1, or the TC-P54Z1 VIERA, in particular. Little is being said about the panel for now, though we are told that it'll be wireless (via an undisclosed standard) right out of the box.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/plasma/" rel="tag">Plasma</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/panasonic-introduces-wireless-1-inch-thick-tc-p54z1-viera-plasm/">Panasonic introduces wireless, 1-inch thick TC-P54Z1 VIERA plasma</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 18:28:00 EST. The Z1-P2007 is touted as the flagship model and ships with a WXGA LCD, 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 256MB of ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 graphics, and 1GB DDR2 memory and 100GB SATA disk. They also pack in an optical disc drive supporting unspecified formats, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, a couple of 1.5W speakers, and support for SRS WOW, and SRS TruSurround. However, unlike LG's ultra-portable <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/02/lgs-xnote-tx-ultra-portable-laptop-with-dmb/">12.1-inch TX</a>, the Z1 brings some relative chunk tipping the scales at 1.89-kg or 4.2-pounds. Still, not a bad all purpose machine for toting around campus on a daily basis. But with a price tag of 1,840,000KRW or about $2,000, you're going to need some help from mom and dad to bring this pup home.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.mobilewhack.com/reviews/lg_z1-p2007_laptop.html">MobileWhack</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/02/lgs-xnote-z1-series-of-12-1-inch-laptops/">LG's XNOTE Z1 series of 12.1-inch laptops</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 02 Jan 2007 08:30:00 EST.
