Engadget HD Podcast 181 - TiVo Premiere
A new TiVo isn't something that happens everyday -- in fact the last time was almost three years ago -- and because so many love and hate their TiVo at the exact same time, these same people get very passionate about the changes they expect. This is a task we weren't willing to take on our own, so we invited Engadget Classic Editors Nilay and Paul (one is a die hard TiVo user and the other actually went to the event) and just for a little outside perspective, we also had TiVo expert Dave Zatz. Logitech prepping Squeezebox updates
Cashing in on the all-things-touchscreen craze, word comes to us from ZatzNotFunny that Logitech will be bringing updates to its Squeezebox lineup which include refreshed Boom and Duet specs and the all-new pictured "Squeezebox Touch." A bit redundant on the name, isn't that, Logitech? We'll also overlook the fact that "Squeezebox Touch" makes us think of something decidedly Chumby-ish, as details on the line updates are thin and the name could change. Either way, the device is definitely lacking in hard buttons, which is more to go on than the FCC line art of whatever Sonos is conjuring up with its CR200 controller.
Thanks to Black Friday sales, Blu-ray players should outpace the CEA's expectations
News flash folks; when price of adminission to the latest technology drops, more people adopt it. This is at least according to the recent post-Black Friday CEA Web Cast -- that our friend Mari with Zatz Not Funny attended. According to the CEA, the sales of sub $250 prices of Blu-ray players was finally brisk enough that the CEA expects that more than 2.75 million units (previous expectation) will be shipped during 2008. Of course this doesn't mean that anyone is actually buying movies, but it's a good first step right?
