You've probably heard by now that the infamous Zune Guy ("Microsoft Zune") was so disappointed with Microsoft that he's elected to have his ink removed in place of something more in line with his shifted priorities. In addition to the reconstructive work he's going to have, ZG claims that Microsoft actually lied to him about his free trip to the Redmond campus, which (as you might imagine) further tarnishes his image of the company. Unfortunately, according to reps from Microsoft we spoke with, the trip was never confirmed -- only discussed -- and ultimately canceled due to the very reasonable fear that it might lead a lot of "hyper-engaged users" to expect a trip of their own (though they did hook our man up with a free Zune and some related swag). What you probably haven't heard (or seen) is his sprawling video rant, in which he accuses the big M of dropping the ball on his favorite PMP before going on a general rage-bender. We've included the video after the break (careful moms, it's full of expletives), as well as link to a zunescene forum where the Zune Guy reveals he's just purchased a new PMP... an iPod.

[Thanks to everyone who sent these in]

Read - Something else I have been hiding....
Read - Bought my new PMP today....
Continue reading Zune Guy calls Microsoft 'liars,' says Zune situation is 'f***ing bulls**t'

Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video

Zune Guy calls Microsoft 'liars,' says Zune situation is 'f***ing bulls**t' originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 26 Jul 2008 19:31:00 EST. Say it ain't so! America's most loyal advocate for Microsoft's Zune is apparently throwing in the towel. Of course, we should warn you that this could very well be a simple ploy for attention, but if the man keeps his word, he will soon be covering his Zune tattoos with... something else. Curiously, he didn't say whether or not he would be playing the traitor card and picking up some sort of iPod, but considering that more people have seen this guy's body art in the wild than actual Zunes, the general public should know soon enough. You fought a good fight, Zune Guy, but consider yourself expelled from The Social.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video, Wearables

Zune Guy fed up with Zune, seeks to cover up tattoos originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 23 Jul 2008 13:57:00 EST. By now you're probably aware of the Zune Guy's mission to change his name to Microsoft Zune, right? He's now documenting the entire process to the delight of amateur psychologists and identity thieves everywhere (seriously dude, at least edit out your phone number). You'll find step 1 of his vision quest -- a call into Microsoft to discuss the legality of the move -- recorded after the break.

Look, we know that our continued attention just rewards the monkey for his dance. But like any good car crash, our morbid curiosity won't let us look away. Especially when we learn that the Zune Guy drives a Ford Focus, just like Bill Gates. We're guessing that's not a coincidence. Click through for the action.

[Thanks, TomTom]
Continue reading Video: Zune Guy begins name change quest, drives Ford Focus just like Bill

Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video

Video: Zune Guy begins name change quest, drives Ford Focus just like Bill originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 14 Apr 2008 05:46:00 EST. We can't say we'd follow in this guy's footsteps for any amount of money, but boy, does it make for fantastic drama. Shortly after the famed Zune Guy (you know, that cat with a trio of Zune-inspired tattoos?) decided to legally change his name to "Microsoft Zune," the plan was put on hiatus after hearing that it cost a whopping $500 to get a name swap. After getting curious, investigating and discovering that he only needed $150 to have it done, he put the mission squarely back on the front burner. Unfortunately, there still stands a chance of the aforesaid name being denied, so he's posted up a poll in order to let the general public give him a list of backups. Personally, we're feelin' McZunin.

[Thanks, Brian]
Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video

Zune Guy's name change endeavor is back on originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 10 Apr 2008 09:08:00 EST. Three tattoos later, what's a man to do? Change your name to "Microsoft Zune," natch. The initial legal consensus seems to believe that the name change is possible under trademark laws just as long as the individual is not benefiting from it or doing harm to the company in any way. Guilty on both accounts we're afraid.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Zune Guy: changing name to Microsoft Zune originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 05 Nov 2007 03:50:00 EST.
