I don't see how this is any different than the t-shirt contest. A lot of graphic designers bitched about having to compete with amateurs, but I had a lot of fun entering even if I didn't win dammit, and to me it was cool that Engadget was letting its readers design the shirt. Same deal here, it's cool that Engadget wants the readers doing shit, and the incentive is a chance to win a laptop. If it's not worth it you, don't enter.
