In a lot of those countries, getting a landline put in is much more expensive than buying a cellphone. I.e. calls made from your home, or rather calls made via the specific cell network antenna that's nearest to your home. I mean... You shouldn't go camping if you can't pinpoint the dials on a normal cellphone but for RVs this is a very cool solution.
