I've been using the 6700 for months now on Sprint and couldn't be happier. The rumor is that Sprint/Audiovox are giving special attention to working on updated firmware with a bunch of new features (and a couple small fixes/tweaks) because of the phone's early success.



No crippled Bluetooth on the Sprint version, $15/month unlimited 1x + EVDO, and no crippled WiFi or EVDO+voice so you never have to worry about missing a call (unless using 1x data, like every other phone).



As for #2 - All the specs are identical to Sprint's version. And while I might have liked the black color, I'm confused as to why part of it remains silver which totally ruins the look for me.



Personally, I think the HTC Wizard (GSM cousin of this phone) is the best looking of the bunch. But it has a slow OMAP processor and crappy GSM. It is true that Verizon remove a lot of Bluetooth and WIFI functionality from the device just like the Samsung i730 but my experience tell me that give it a month and I can get a hack for it from http://www.pdaphonehome.com believe me there a lot of end user out there with Microsoft Windows Mobile software. They can always recompile and put back the stuff that Verizon remove.

the treo can play mp3s, uses SD and has palm os. the XV6700 cant play mp3s or not advertised, uses miniSD and cant play mp3s. they both have bluetooth as well.

OK, so the price info turns out to be accurate. I ordered mine yesterday(1/4), and at the time I was billed $330.98(phone, NE2 discount, overnight shipping). I got a courtesy call this morning from Verizon with my tracking number, and the fact that they were informed this morning that there was a $100 mail-in rebate for the XV6700. My rep is sending this out to me separately, and I CAN combine it with NE2.

Bryan Richardson warns against the Audiovox device and I may have to agree with him. I got my 6700 on January 21, now 4 four days later it locked up so that the touch screen would not repond to touch nor the keys on the keypad. Verizon Tech Support had to do a hard reset(soft resets failed to correct the problem)in order to get the screen to work again, losing everything in the phone in the process. They tell me I can return the phone for a refurb model after I just shelled out $300 for a new phone less than a week ago. - Fat Chance! I'll take my 2100 minutes a month plus data elsewhere before that happens. But Bryan, I'm not sure if it is the Audiovox hardware or just another crappy, unstable Microsoft operating system. How do you manually dial a phone number??

I am very technical, running my own software company, and have been using a Nokia 3650 for several years now. There are obvious advantages and extensions that something like an XV6700 or Treo could bring, but a large part of my usage would be making calls from the car when I don't have 2 hands free (to use a stylus and eyes free. I dial now with a sense of touch.

I see on the Treo (at least I think I see) that part of the QUERTY keyboard can work as a regular 12 key keypad of a conventional cell phone. Does anyone know if the XV6700 has a similar capability?

The demo I saw in the Verizon store used only a virtual keypad on the screen which probly ain't gonna cut it for me...

Info/experience anybody?
