I know I'm gonna get flamed and voted low for this but those transitions look exactly the same as on the Zune... except without the cool fading in/out effect.

Zune got it from the Media Center-which exists since 2002. Now go back to your iPod or iPhone or iWhatever and let iRational people talk here.
Mac OS X was announced in 2000 and released in 2001.
