The fact is MOST people who go to those Apple Discussion forums go BECAUSE they have problems. Its rare to see people just visiting to praise a product, in any of the forums.

... i was thinking about it and given apple's expectations of capturing 1% market share in one year (10 million units), they would have to sell an average of over 27 thousand units everyday for the iphone's first 365 days. so while it seems that they are selling a lot, if you consider the expectations this thing has, i'm not so sure if its doing all that great. 27 thousand units!

So your chart says iPhone sold out somewhere. Great now Mr RDR (reality distortion ray) is gonna twist this and say, "iPhone was in so much demand it sold out!!" When in reality he gave away a ton to his employees and still couldn't get rid of the stock.

On a side note, I think it'll add this to every comment: Can we have an Engadget forum? Some really cool people post in the comments here, we need a community! And it appears that you guys have some spare time on your hands (read the last couple iphone 'news' stories.) If you need a reason other than your loyal fanbase/readers, think of all the money you'll make running ads on the forums? :).

Also, the fact is that AT&T has reported that "virtually all" of their stores sold out of the iPhone the first day. This has been widely reported in the media. Again, this doesn't exactly support your silly statement that they "couldn't get rid of the stock." (Not to mention, how is "getting rid of the stock" supposed to make any sense when referring to a product that is only 2 days old?!)

It will be interesting to see the sales numbers for the weekend and following week. Can anyone give a guess as to how iPhone sales are comparing to Zune? But I still stand by the point I was trying to make... How is this and half the other iphone stuff posted here today worthy of being a news article. I'm sure I've read somewhere (here!) that there was a link on the apple site showing which stores still had iphones in stock. Why does engadget need to also post about which stores have some left?
