I can't even imagine how homicidal I'd feel if I lost an 18K gold accented phone if it cost more than $500 - or an iphone for that matter.

Secondly, Vertu phones SUCK. Gold and leather wrap don't mean anything to me. I'd probably never buy a luxury phone, I will however be taking a serious look at the lg vx880 (veenus - Dumbest fuckin cell phone name ever). Anyone have any speculation on the price of the vx8800? Yeah, I got it August 29.
Anyway, if you're planning on getting one of these pieces of crap, think again. They don't last long. Mine broke on September 7. I always kept it in my pocket with a case on it, and one day when I took it out, the sceen was cracked. Yes, the ENTIRE screen was cracked. You would think that your pocket would be a safe place to keep it in...but it ain't.
Now, I dunno if this problem has happened to anyone of you that has this phone, but whatever. I thought that accidents happened and (some) people drop their phones sometimes. That's understandable. It would probably get a minor scratch or something. But breaking when it's in your pocket?! That's just plain stupid. I didn't even drop it once. I created a silent WAV file, and set that as the ringtone for SMS's.
Then I found out there's an undocumented reminder that beeps every
couple of minutes until you acknowledge the SMS. You can't turn off
the reminder.

I opened a support case with Motorola, but they didn't have any
resolution. They said they usually update the firmware 2-3 months
after release, but they didn't commit to that, or that they would fix
the problem.

For me, the phone is unusable until (or if) Motorola fixes it with
the next release. If you already bought one, please open a support
case with Motorola. The more people that complain, the more likely
