Why didnt Apple just release the first iPhone with 3G ? Now I've got to try and figure out if its worth getting one now or waiting for what could be months before the 3G version is available. I've already waited long enough but I don't want to buy something thats superceded straight away. Not being able to afford every new toy realy sucks sometimes !!
I'd like to know how the draw from Wifi compares with 3G. We keep hearng how 3G is tough on the battery and yet Wifi is never mentoned and my 3G Sony w8800i which is a third of the size of the iPhone can quite happily last for 3 or 4 days.
Why do people keep accepting Jobs' lame excuse for no 3G? "Too power-hungry" indeed.
News flash: If you really want longer battery life, you can SWITCH OFF 3G and go back to 2.5G on virtually every 3G phone out there, then SWITCH IT ON AGAIN when you want the raw speed instead. How is "no choice at all" any better than that?
I just don't understand why people switch off their brains whenever Teh Steve speaks. That RDF is powerful mojo.
With that tiny-ass screen on the Sony that probably never sees any internet browsing use, I wouldn't be surprised that the battery lasts forever with 3G. Reading and downloading text doesn't use that much power. BTW, you ever watch any movies on that SE w8800i?
When SE puts a much larger screen, movie playing capability and full browsing capability on it's handsets, then come back and brag about battery time. Apple keeps trying to fit everything in the same size package. I don't think that's a great idea, but that's not my call. I say increase the size and weight to fit features, but then you get a chunky brick. Sorry, but it's all a matter of compromise and what sells.
Depending on what you do with your handset determines how much battery life you'll get.
Anyway, mostly techies are screaming about 3G. If I was using a handset I'd yell that there's not enough bandwidth on 3G since I'm used to 10 MB/s download cable speeds. It's a relative speed thing. I think most non-tech users will be satisfied with 2.5G. At least in the US, anyway.
Honestly.... I send this out to all of you early iPhone adopters. And make no mistake, I don't give a flying $hit if you rank me lowest or try to come back at me with useless responses.
For all of you that went out and bought the iPhone and get jacked 2 months later, or 2 hours later, I don't give a FUCK! You bought the damn thing, deal with it if it's obsolete before you even walk out the store.
First off, I own a palm treo. Not because I can't afford a iPhone, If I wanted a damn iPhone, I could by 6 of them a month just to chuck em at windows and still have enough money to pay off my rent, bills, and any other crap I want out there. Why haven't I bought one? Cause it doesn't freaking offer what I want from it!!!!!!!
Second, if you buy one, and you get jipped the next week, boo fucking hoo. Deal with it jackass. I want you to go to the car dealership you went too last week and tell them that you wanna get 5,000 bucks back because the car you bought last week depreciated that 5 grand over the past week, and you want them to make it up to you. Go see what they tell yo ass.
Third, quit your fucking bitching and sounding like a bunch of irritated pussies because you got suckered into buying a freaking iPhone you couldn't afford in the first place, and then after something better comes out you feel juked.
I for one, WANT the 3g, with a higher storage capacity for the freaking iPhone. And I'm willing to wait till it comes out. All you sucka's out there that just whine and gripe about forking out cash for a phone you can't afford, should maybe just be grateful you got something. YOU made the choice to buy it. Don't get all pissy cause the price dropped 2 months, or 3 months or whatever later. Maybe yo dumb ass shoulda held out for when you COULD'VE afforded it, or better yet, came with the options you wanted it too.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

According to Mr. Jobs: WAAAAAY too much power draw.
And everyone wants to have something with a long battery life =)
So... What uses more power then. Taking a long time to load a page with Edge, or loading a page quickly with 3G? DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!
